  • This is a ghost story. 966 Lindley Street in Bridgeport, Connecticut became known as the most haunted house in the world. The poltergeist activity drew famed paranormal investigators, Ed and Lorraine Warren. The supernatural events were witnessed by dozens of police, firemen, priests, and city officials, and over forty hours of testimony were captured on tape. Never has a haunted house had so many credible witnesses and recorded evidence.
Whether it was a ghost, spirit, demon, or otherwise, the nation became obsessed with the haunting at 966 Lindley Street. These events occurred shortly after the release of The Exorcist, and newspapers printed countless pieces. Then, the world suddenly forgot about the world's most haunted house.
    👍PATREON - / pandox_yt
    🐦TWITTER - / pandoxyt
The owners, Gerry and Laura Goodin, suffered a series of tragic losses. They adopted a young girl, Marcia Goodin, who came with her own spiritual baggage. These tragedies could have exposure them to the curse of an occult entity. The home became possessed shortly after.
It began with knocking on the walls of the home. After countless inspections, no source could be found. Then, spectral limbs and ghostly figures manifest themselves. Disembodied hands appeared in the windows, and footsteps formed in front of their eyes. This was only the beginning of the Bridgeport Poltergeist.
Ed and Lorraine Warren came to investigate the home; Ed was more about capturing and recording ghostly phenomenon, and Lorraine was a professed psychic medium. Their research has since been turned into countless film adaptations like Amityville Horror, The Conjuring, Annabelle, and many more. However, their investigation into the haunted house at 966 Lindley Street would prove to be one of their most terrifying investigations.
The spirit levitated furniture, and demonic apparitions manifested in the home. The Goodins were convinced a disembodied evil spirit was trying to hurt them. On November 23, 1974, Gerry and his neighbor, Officer John Holsworth, reported the events to the precinct. Several patrol cars and a firetruck arrived. They witnessed televisions float, recliners open and close, and refrigerators move without any known cause. Priests were called to perform house blessing, and the family pled for an exorcism from the church.
Desperate for answers, many speculated that the haunting was a hoax. Skeptics insinuated that the Warrens, the Goodins, or both were involved in an elaborate farce to raise media attention and build reputations. Reporters arrived to investigate, and stories about the haunted house were distributed across the Associated Press. The haunting received national attention, and a crowd formed on the street outside the home, desperate for an opportunity to glimpse real ghost activity. The crowd would remain for days, even weeks.
Meanwhile, the paranormal activity escalate. Lorraine Warren received blistering burns on her body, despite no nearby source of heat. Gerry Goodin became possessed, chanting the Mass of the Dead in Latin while surrounded by a sulfuric, smoky haze. One of the priests claimed to touch one of the apparitions, while another claimed to have seen the face of a demonic entity in the basement of the home.
The haunted house at 966 Lindley Street had dozens of credible witnesses and official reports. This was one of the most widely publicized horror stories, and it was the focus the nation. Then, it was forgotten.

My whole family grew up in Bridgeport but we live in shelton now (I’m 22). I asked my father if he knew about a poltergeist back in the day and he asked if I was talking about “the Lindsey street house” lol. He grew up down the road and said there was always weird stuff happening at that house. My friend Carl is the third Carl in his family line and his father just retired from Bridgeport P.D. I suspect his grandfather was the officer Carl Leonzi that reported to the scene. Kinda crazy 😅

Great use of drones and sfx. It helps make the headphone experience more engaging. Not sure if you changed anything in your more recent work, but maybe it’d be worth trying a little less compression on your voice. You are already very articulate, and your speech cuts through the mix perfectly, so maybe giving yourself a little bit more freedom in dynamic range might make it easier to draw in attention/build suspense, etc. Loving your stuff, and hope to see you gain the following your work deserves!

Sometimes they sob and sometimes they lose their minds and never recover which was the case with a bunch of people some even killed themselves. It happened and it’s incredibly scary and interesting.

I lived and worked in Bridgeport Connecticut in a company called, "Bridgeport Brass." I often dropped off and picked up enormous reels of sheet brass from a remote storage facility for the brass. The storage facility was close to the address in question. The years I worked there never revealed anything unusual at all. I did not even know about the legend until right before Bridgeport Brass decided to close their Connecticut location to move to the new larger facility in northern Saskatchewan, where I work today. The residence, in question, was easily seen during my pickup and drop off of the reels of brass. It just looked like derelict property. Nothing evil was there. It was just a sad old property.

As Mr. Solfvin states, many of these poltergeist cases center around an individual who is typically the focus of these activities, and they typically occur is situations where a family is in turmoil. After these events, the daughter received treatment for mental health issues, and the activity eventually ceased. There is no written record of what happened to Marcia the years following these events. Hopefully, they all found some peace.

Sounds like an infestation of LSA-producing ergot in the walls of the old home causing gustatory, auditory, and visual hallucinations. The family didn't need an exorcism or a police investigation; they needed a specialist cleaning company to scrape away the fungus from inside the walls.
