I was born and raised here in Humboldt and I gotta say, once I started traveling around I truly realized how much of a different world we live in here. The people are very unique and the communities are extremely tight knit in the smaller towns. Outsiders are definitely taken advantage of often, especially when it comes to the trimmers. This video is great. Sheila franks is actually my friends mom so it’s nice to see her story being told and her being remembered. The guy she was dating totally did it, her and bertolini. There’s so much info on the backstory it’s insane. Law enforcement here is a joke. Just wanted to show some appreciation! Great video, glad I came across it ✨

i was born and raised in humboldt as well! when i moved to southern california couple years ago i felt like it was a different universe, i was so used to knowing everybody because of how small the towns are. i get asked what humboldt is like, i tell them it’s beautiful on the outside but once you stay long enough you can see what really lays beneath the surface

I read Kym Kemp's news daily. I completely agree with you. Just read her comments section and you see comments from friends and family's of the victims. Everybody up there knows who killed Sheila and the other girl. The police up there are terrible, they could care less about these women. That's why there's vigilantism in the area. I hope someone takes out Sheila's killer before he kills again.

In about 2012, I was in a bar in Gold Hill, Oregon. I was talking to another middle aged couple at the bar and a 30ish couple, from the woods, kept giving me the eye. Eventually the young woman comes up and says to me: "If this were harvest, you'd be dead". Then goes back to her beau and they glare at me. I was not impressed, nor was I intimidated as I myself being born in the 50's, have not left a sheltered life. I loudly proclaimed that they threatened my life for no reason and I was pissed off. The bar owner apologized and I finished my beer and left. I would not put that town on my list of places to visit in Oregon.

My favorite part about your channel? You present cases that have not previously been featured or if they have not very much!! All of the other channels who present Missing411 do the same ones over and over and over ad nauseam, which is frustrating when you consider that there are estimates of 1600+ who have gone missing in national parks!! I have long thought someone should be hilighting the other 1585 cases, and I hope you will continue the trend!! When I read 'The Humboldt Five,' I thought here we go again, thinking it was about the 5 men who had gone missing after watching a basketball game. I was pleasantly surprised and happy to have been wrong!! Thank you for sharing these stories. You truly never know whose memory might be jogged or when you look through vacation pictures and suddenly it's someone in the background you hadn't noticed before - as that is exactly what happened in the recent Gabby Petito case! Someone noticed her fiance/killer in just that way!! Keep up the great work, and again, thank you!!!

People don't have to believe me, but James Eugene Jones is my uncle, Uncle on my Dad's side. It's so surreal watching a youtuber I recognize talking about him. I don't live in California so I can't say for certain but it does really seem that he's turned his life around (Mostly just info passed to me from my dad) I can't say I know if he did anything either, it just gave me such a trippy sort of feeling watching this and knowing that you're talking about my uncle.

Years ago there were a couple foreign trimmers working on a farm and after the season was over the owner decided to execute them instead of paying them, one ended up escaping after the other was executed.
I also picked up a hitch hiker way out on the back roads on a super hot day and said he had been dropped off at the bottom of the hill by the farm owner’s wife and told to walk back to the farm. Being born and raised in Humboldt County I found this interesting. I also noticed you mention the “Ford” character, not really sure what you think he has to do with the missing five. Yes he was a serial killer, but he was a truck driver that worked over the road out of state where he did most if not all of his evil deeds. Plus he lived on the opposite side of the county where most of these girls went missing from. So called murder mountain is not a place you can just go and roam freely. You must have an invite or escort in most of the time, and even then you are not safe from harm. Humboldt is a beautiful place full of lots of fucked up and deranged people sad to say. It’s also sad only these five girls being mentioned as missing all the time in stories. There are hundreds maybe thousands that have gone missing in the hills out there. Out there meaning the hills and remote areas of the county not just so called murder mountain.

I live in Humboldt County, and the police up here are a joke. More women have gone missing or were murdered, and the official response is “No connection”. Maybe, maybe not, but they do a half-assed curtosy “investigation” and then quit. They just don’t care.

Mountain cops used to be mountain people.
They're connected to the farmers and the killers.
The cops "arrest" ppl but they just take their money and pounds and give the pounds back to the farmers. With legalization there's WAY less pie to go around, so ppl get desperate.
The same farmers connected w the cops sell the same pounds, sometimes multiple times in one day. Sometimes ppl get pulled over and the ppl in the car go missing. There's no law up there. It's crazy.

No bs chit chat or boring convos that have nothing to do with the story when u get pods with 2& 3hosts. Theres so many of them they foolow such interesting cases but i cant get past the absolutely pointless boring bantar between them. Its completely ruins the listen. I search for content just like this with this kinda format. Thank u
