I have tried many grey screens, always too dim after being used to white. I love bright. Just tried a cinegrey 3d last week in my livingroom and hated how dark it was for everyone outside the sweet spot. Have a wet bar on the side and we like watching from over there too.
@@prtbone78 in the end I just ended up with a Silver Ticket matte white screen on both my projectors it was easily the best bang for Buck. People with $1,000 plus screens would probably tell you different.
@Snaus Pockets I got me an elite screen off Facebook market for 100 bucks used but better than new price and looks great. I want a bigger screen got a 92 seems to small for my liking but for the price couldn't pass it up gonna shoot for a silver ticket as well but hate the chunky borders but ill be fine gong for 120 inch or 135
This is exactly the kind of information we need. Nothing beats a straight comparison between the different materials to illustrate the differences. Thanks for doing this guys.
tengo un blackout blanco mate satinado de 220 X200 para oscurecer la alcoba y medio por proyectar en elcon un PX748 4K y se ve genial me ahorre un dineral en pantalla😎
830hp, wow, great 2011 Cadillac CTS-V, yeah she bad fa real, thanks for explaining the various types of screen innovations material, I just purchased my first projector, Sony 885ES, I'm thinking about SI Solo Pro 2 120'' slate 1.2, I appreciate your videos being informative and helpful, I will be purchasing my mount from Dreamedia, I love the strong FTP mount, I can't wait to see everything once its completed, take care, God bless!
I would have to say the second from the left is the best. The center two alter the look of the color almost purple-ish and the outer two are a bit too bright for a dedicated/light controlled room. I would not purchase a screen that alters the true color of the display. Personally, I look for an Elite or Silver Ticket.
Nice review of SI screens. In my man cave have brilliant white 1.3 gain with JVC 2000 from Zach. Have black velvet cloth over window frames. Eat my popcorn in the dark, lol. Zach shipped my JVC to California & arrived in perfect shape.
Nice! Good to see these sorts of tests. Which one would you recommend with a ceiling-mounted BenQ HT4550i / HT4000i with a 3m-wide screen at 3.7 throw distance in A COMPLETELY DARK ROOM? The point is simply to retain the peak white levels of a white screen, but DEEPEN the black levels - thereby expanding the contrast. Is this really possible?
great video....gives alot of insight to what to use for material. What would you suggest for 300" outdoor suspended screen? "Cream of the crop.....not cream in the crop." LOL
300” screen, the projector that would be necessary to light that up is going to be quite pricey. Would suggest finding the happy medium of the two. Let us know if we can help 👍🏻
Great video guys!! It’s a real honor having one of my screens used as the background to displaying some of the best viewing surfaces in the world. My favorite is no. 5 😆
With the new laser protectors from Sony and JVC even Epson LS1200 which gain would you go with. Personally I like the slate 1.2 the best out of all them. Wish you would do a re do with the new projectors because they are really different then the bulb projectors.
Slate or black Diamond if you have ambient light. ALR is critical in most family room settings. Feel free to call for a free video consultation with a specialist! 877-417-9000 - sales@dreamediaav.com
Greetings and thanks for the video. I have an Optoma HD36 and have been projecting onto a typical cardboard photo backdrop for years. Soft gray colour. Approximately 115". But I want more screen. 125" minimum. And I don't know whether to buy a rollable gain 1.2 white screen. Or make a fixed screen by painting with special paint on a board. I use my living room and I can't paint walls or ceiling. Thanks.
It’s super uber expensive though; for someone on a budget carl’s place is probably good enough performance. If you want to spend more money getting a better projector will probably improve your experience more. That said, I will not deny, screen innovations probably offers the best performance as far as the screen goes. I would like to see a comparison between screen innovations alr and a budget option like Carl’s place alr to see how big the difference really is.
Carls place has a very blue tint. They sent me a large sample and compared it to my textured white wall. The wall gave me a much better picture. Go with paint if you can!
The Black Diamonds look to PURPLE, But look at the car just above the front car, it is VERY BLUE. Is the Projector calibrated to the Black Diamond or even to the main screen ? If the blueish color of on the back Diamond CAN be calibrated that screen has many advantages, one i very low light leak to walls, ceiling etc, wich give a clear and high contrast projection.
Thanks from germany very cool Infos.... I would go with the slate 1.2. I guess it will perfectly fit with my new rs-2000!? The black dimond seems in the video very violett or blue like metl....!? Is that realy like in natural? Also the slate looks more natural. I have conntrolled gray living room... Unfortunately!!!!! This gorgeous screens are so expensi in europe....dont get me wrong. Its worth it! But we pay at ws spalluto the Distributor her, for a averag Black dimond 16:9 100 zoll screen 4800 Euro🥳. Would you send to europe 😭 Thanks and go on with your channels bot of you
I'm sitting here kinda mad watching this because you and it seems like all installers fail to mention one important thing about ambient light rejecting screens. I don't care if it is a slate model or a black diamond, you WILL get sparkles in bright scenes and motion scenes. Installers failing to mention this caused me to buy a Screen Innovations Slate screen and a Seymour screen Excellence ALR screen trying to get the look I wanted. I could not get past the sub-pure look of those screens. Call me a purest! I just want to see the film like it was intended to be seen. I have a pitch black room but my walls are lighter . I'm willing to sacrifice a little contrast for the SMOOTH look. You really need to make people aware of this issue!
Dreamedia Home Theater yes because I actually wanted a legitimate response! I follow your channel and really like it. Just Hoping you could validate what I’m experiencing!!
Scott Tilden I understand no screen is perfect.... But from my experience ,installers don’t mention this sparkle issue. They definitely don’t mention it on videos such as this . I have to go digging in AVS forums to find talk about it, so yes it is the responsibility of the installer to inform of this issue because us as the consumer make decisions based on the installers ( “the professional”) recommendations !
I still haven't bought a screen I am so indecisive hahaI was like all right I'm going to get a 135 screen but then I'm like maybe I should get a silver instead of grey. From My viewing distance I could get away with that 150 inch screen but it's two hundred bucks extra and I'm like I don't know if 15 in extra is worth two hundred bucksFor some reason a Silver Screen is more expensive than a gray screen. I thought all the rage was for grey screen so I thought they would be expensive but now I'm second-guessing myself
Z&C, yeah not so much in the dark with guys. lol. kinda weird especially during football! lol. I LOVE BEER. ESPECIALLY, IF SOMEONE HAS A DISABILITY AND NEED HELP WITH USING A STRAW. LIKE ME. good point Chris lol 👍👍👍 Again Zack, go with the flow! Chris is slow. goof balls..lol
The problem I have with screens is the price I have a nice jvc rs 1000 lamp based front projector but the cost from these quality brands ok is ridiculous I asked a store how much was a si screen 135 inch they said $7000 come on let’s be realistic yes materials matter but $7000 it’s all a con I can tell you it definitely kills the projector market would you pay for a tv twice people
I have a sony vpl-xw7000es projector and any scene that involves blacks is almost unwatchable and terrible. It is supposed to be a high end, very well reviewed projector. When I game on it, even though the screen is 130", it is hard to distinguish units from one another (aoe 3 de). I have a silver ticket 135" ags grey screen. I'm thinking of returning it honestly, really disappointed. Ideally I would like to be able to use it without having to be in a pitch black room with black walls. I have an 85" samsung 'the frame' tv which seems to absolutely blow this projector away in picture quality. Can anyone give me a screen material recommendation? I really hate muddly blacks.
Just a suggestion but maybe consider running each panel vertically up higher. If not total screen maybe half? Very tough to see the differences
I have tried many grey screens, always too dim after being used to white. I love bright. Just tried a cinegrey 3d last week in my livingroom and hated how dark it was for everyone outside the sweet spot. Have a wet bar on the side and we like watching from over there too.
Your preference is.....? Thanks for your feedback

I'm glad these support 8k. I was worried the fabric was going to pixelate with a high resolution projection.
This is exactly the kind of information we need. Nothing beats a straight comparison between the different materials to illustrate the differences. Thanks for doing this guys.
Very helpful. I was confused what surface color to go for. I have a dark media room with no ambient light. I am going for a white.

I just got into projectors and I love how professional yet genuine these vids are. Funny shit, subbed

Slate 1.2 is very nice. This video has me going back to the drawing board. 👍🏿
Can you do a review on EPV screens
Thanks you 2 that's all I need to say
Thank you for the kind words!
Just have to say.. @chris.. that super charger sounds badass
Nice review of SI screens. In my man cave have brilliant white 1.3 gain with JVC 2000 from Zach. Have black velvet cloth over window frames. Eat my popcorn in the dark, lol. Zach shipped my JVC to California & arrived in perfect shape.
awesome! THANKS brother
Any shining or glittery "sparkells" on the screen whit the pure white 1.3..?
Such a great comparison..

So, any advice ...what is the best screen FOR 3D MOVIES? , my projector is 3000 ansi lumens.
What would you pair for Sony 6000 projector with? In a family room setting
Slate or black Diamond if you have ambient light. ALR is critical in most family room settings. Feel free to call for a free video consultation with a specialist! 877-417-9000 - sales@dreamediaav.com
What screen do you *generally* suggest for anyone that is going with a JVC RS3000 with controlled lighting?
Greetings and thanks for the video.

I have an LCD 1300 lummens projector, which screen should I buy?
WOW REALLY COOL ZAK I have learned so much by just watching this video thanks for a great video Zak and Chris

Great comparison video, I have a better idea of what will work for me now, probably the Slate 1.2 will work best.
I have aurlex sound burst. Ant advice hot to actually use??
Nice video …which is better for projector with 1500-2200 ansi lumen ?
I have only ever used beaded screens and more than happy.
the black diamond has a purple hue to it that I really do not like.
White is the best AS ALWAYS.
Thank you for your comment!
The black diamond looks red
Can i use black board for projection?
The Black Diamonds look to PURPLE, But look at the car just above the front car, it is VERY BLUE. Is the Projector calibrated to the Black Diamond or even to the main screen ? It is odd he didn't mention it! I had a sample in my home and yes hot spots!
I use white wall and IAM ok with it
whats the best screen material for 8000 lumens led projector toperson t421 for movies and pc gaming
would be great to see them compared to a normal white wall too
Loving the daily uploads!!! Keep it up
There's nowhere to purchase SI screen in the UK lol
Did he just say 2.35:1 screen as IMAX ?? @ 3:34
Haha yeah I was like wait a minute what? IMAX aspect ratios are about approximately either 1.43:1 or 1.90:1
