I doubt it Guy, Further work or editing is probably not needed unlike other car channels since Steve is a master of information & the King of the "one take" video"!! I think that's why he sounds out of breath sometimes...I don't think he breaths much during the actual filming.

Our family car in the late sixties was a 66 white Coronet 440 station wagon with the red interior like that one. It had dad's favorite 318 engine. I remember the long drives sitting in the rear facing third seat looking out the back windows..

I never seen it either. Til I had hands on experience dragging a 64 Pontiac GTO out of the woods. I opened hood . Valve cover rotted off and valve springs as well. Even the carburators decintergrated into dust . Car didn't have a bottom . Car was silver and black console and buckets. Car covered in dense brush since I'm early -mid 70's when it got stuck there. Abandoned farm house house burnt . Car and other stuff was there. All gone now.

63-65, Plymouth and Dodge shared the same basic body style from the cowl back. My first registered car was an ex-US Forest Service '63 Savoy wagon with rear seat delete and a 225 leaning tower of power coupled to a push button Torqueflite. And... the wagons are still popular as drag cars (I sold my three a couple years back). -edit: the 61-62 Plymouth/Dodge wagons were pure Virgil Exner but you can still see his influences carried over to the 63-65 years. Thanks for taking a closer look at this one Steve. 😎👍

I'm not familiar with the '65 Dodges but the '68 Dodge Dart kick panel vents had a hinged door you opened and there was enough room to stash a six pack still in the ringer on both sides and if it was cool out it would keep your favorite beverage cool for you too.

Back in the late 70’s, my “General Motors” brother-in-law bought a little Dodge Dart from my “Chrysler” brother-in-law to use as a commuter car. As the calendar turned toward winter, my “General Motors” brother-in-law was having a hard time keeping the car warm inside and finally asked my “Chrysler” brother-in-law if he had ever had any heating issues with the car.
The first thing my “Chrysler” brother-in-law asked was, “Did you close the vent?” To which my “General Motors” brother-in-law replied, “What vent?”
Yeah - those hinged door vents that Chrysler used were kind of weird…..😂

Good morning Steve , Speaking of racing station wagons in 1967 -8 I would race anything anyplace on the street and at the strip, in the Pittsburgh area we had P I D and for a short time Keystone only a half mile from Yenko Camaro as us locals called it . As just a little squirt just being able to race on a real quarter mile ment everything so I didn't care so much what it was , it was just bracket racing , sometimes it would be a VW bug sometimes a 64 Goat but I also raced my Dads Mercury Monteray station wagon.

No VIN, can't win, but I got it figured out, no doubt: W for Coronet eight cylinder, 5 for wagon, 5 for 1965 model year, maybe 2 for Dodge Main/Hamtramck, MI assembly aka "Factory Zero", or 5 for Los Angeles, CA assembly, or possibly 7 for Fenton (St. Louis, MO) assembly and the rest is the production sequence. Exterior color is likely code "W" White.

Did the AWB cars actually get dedicated quarter panel stampings with the relocated wheel arches? Or did they alter a body-in-white surgically afterimage was welded together?

    • @SteveMagnante

Hello Bob_88SC, there is a formerly "Confidential" build paper created by the Chrysler Chassis and Suspension Lab back in late 1964 that chronicles the construction of the first altered wheelbase B-Body, a Plymouth which was known as the "mule car". In the photos there are obvious marks where the quarter panels were cut and patched. So NO there were no special altered wheel house quarter panels made for the factory FX cars. Each and every one has some pretty raw body work hiding beneath the race car paint schemes applied to the recipients. Its also why Chrysler painted them white before delivery, a nice blank canvas but it also HIDES surgery scars better than colors. THANKS again for writing, Steve Magnante

I just will never understand why people will take the air cleaner off and ruin an engine. Steve might have taken this one off. And I know the valve covers are rusted through on this one, but I see this all the time on engines that could have maybe been rebuilt.

Because good running engines are pulled to sell when a car goes in a junkyard. The cars with an engine mostly are for parts anyways.
Also if they have 10 good 318 engines that have been sitting without selling they ain't worried about having 11.

Hello TheTallest, yes the metal pointer seemed helpful - at first. But it was too short to really be able to indicate from a distance without getting in the way of the camera. So it was "retired" after just the one video of the 1965 Chevelle SS. So its back to sticks and stones...THANKS for writing, Steve Magnante
