It's awesome how the pilot flew the machine and showed its awesome capabilities. The extreme low speed and high alphas it can do, it's incredibly fast turn rate and ability to speed up and slow down using the air, I just love the hornet.

+Ahmad Sayyed it's called a blue note. I can't tell you for sure whay causes it but I know the sound was amplified by the buildings I was around.
MigHound, it's because of the sound emitted by the jet engines producing thrust at speeds that can exceed the speed of sound. That plane is a sure beauty ain't she? Well, anyways if you have anymore questions, feel free to ask.

I've been a pilot (not in the military) ever since I turned 18 and that sound just gives me goosebumps at 1:03-1:08

@@MrMolack It's a combination of the turbofans and airframe resonance that causes that noise. It's colloquially known as the blue note. The hawker hunter has the best bluenote in my opinion.

Have an air show coming up here at Barksdale AFB. Thunderbirds are suppose to be here in April. Hopefully i can catch that howling sound when we get the F-18 demo here as well.

2 F-18's flew over my house the other day in unison and were in a low pass. It was so awesome!!

+Xrm150 Hey Ive been to a cf-18 demo this summer and I must say... the F-18s in your videos sound awesome but they lack the incredibly sharp scream these things produce when they pass at roughly 1000 km/h. You probably know what I'm talking but still I'd like you to upload such a pass; I recorded one with my phone, pretty good but it's not worth your fine camera work. Keep up the good vids!

I must admit, It is hard to capture the rumble with the noise of a jet engine. You captured the rumble excellently, and I'm not sure what part I like more with this video, the video, or the sound! ........probably, the sound! Awesome stereo-fect. And the video is great too......good job man!

The probable cause of that high pitch howling sound is either the jet might have holes or vents that which supersonic air is rushing over it much like you blowing air onto the bottle which high speed air is quite compressed unlike subsonic air which the speed is lower than the speed of sound. The Doppler effect also plays a role by the compressed air at supersonic speeds creates higher frequencies leading to that beautiful howl you are listening. Or that the jet itself is approaching the sound barrier and that the immense wave drag forming on the aircraft creates drag and again Doppler effect also causes the frequency to change and the outflow velocity of the air is proportional to the Doppler effect so that means that the pilot will be hearing a constant frequency because he or she is in the vicinity of the supersonic shockwave in the aircraft the observer will hear the changes in frequency because the observer is stationary but the plane is flying

I was just reminiscing about ACE Zero earlier today. Such a great game just like ACE 5.
I took my Son & his friend to Selfridge Air National Guard ANG about 3 times in 1988-1990 to see Blues Angels & an F-14 Tom Cat. The announcer said after the Angels took off they turned around and grouped up at Port Huron 30 miles away. But when the Tom Cat did his routine he took off and flew straight up, then straight back down, then made low level passes over the crowd at just under the speed of sound and NEVER LEFT THE PERIMETER OF THE BASE. It was ausome!
My favorite plane out of many favorites but I am digging the f35 after seeing it for the first time this November at Nellis
The f35 is far louder than I thought.
The f18 is the best sounding jet ever made. Not just the crazy load roar but that underlying almost race car scream that just sounds fast.
That high speed pass was cool

only thing that comes close is the british tornado,both fa 18 and tornado my favorite war planes hands down.
Yeah, it is, and it's called FR A-10C Thunderbolt II, its like the big brother of the F-18, with a 30mm GAU-8 Avenger instead of the 20MM M61 Vulcan of the F-18.
And the structure of the plane is way different, is built around the GAU-8, and is an Attack Plane.
The F-14B-D and the B1B ALL DAY. Those engines will literally shake the ground.
@@jonn443 I haven't heard an F-14 since 2006. Wish I could remember how good they sounded. My ear is a little more fine tuned now. I will co-sign you on the B-1B though. I could feel those afterburners in my chest.

She would make the ground shake and whenever an F-14 was at an airshow, EVERYBODY went. She would single-handedly quadruple the turnout from a airshow.

I once saw an F 14 from VF 101 at the Reno air races in Nevada.

F-18 compared to F-14 is extremely agile, thanks the lightweight body and powerful engines that allow the Hornet make wonderful tricks even above the G-limits!

F-18 is loud but not the loudest. When it comes to loud, it's the Thunderscreech FTW!! The only airplane to create so much sonic booms that it rendered a man incapacitated!

Well I was just taking about vertical climb and what I'd like to watch. However.. if you're taking about dogfighting I'd take a group of f18s (various versions) against any no stealth aircraft.
I'm sure 1 vs 1. I think a growler would change the outcome though.
That’s the inlets howling. Resonant frequency between the inlet and the first stage compressor at low throttle. It’s actually very common, most jets do it to some degree.

This is probably still the most dangerous fighter given it's without the 22 and 35's new tech.
I think the f18 is the most versatile fighter ever made.
@@Xrm150 certainly seems to be, the 35 is probably mirrored after the 18, the 22 was in a class of its own, the 15 and 16 were also up there.
