    The violence in Colombia is not just because of cocaine. There are more complicated social, economic, and injustice factors.

    How is the history of African enslaved people in Colombia not discussed more extensively as part of the country’s history. Colombia has one of the largest African diasporas in Latin America because of the transatlantic slave trade. This very brief history is not complete without that acknowledgement. A simple .01 second mention of slavery’s abolishment is not enough.

    • @Kyle-pp7dv
      @Kyle-pp7dv 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Is there a particular reason as to why this is the case? I believe it's the only tricolour flag that is not symmetric. Why does the yellow colour has such a precedence over the others.

    • @nicolaspicon2968
      @nicolaspicon2968 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Kyle well, one important thing about it is that it’s really helpful to identify the Colombian flag amongst others countries’ like Venezuela or Ecuador which were part of the “Great Colombia” back in 1830. Also, I believe the reason the colors aren’t symmetrical is simply because of what the represent, as yellow is gold, blue goes by the sea and red by the blood that was spilled during the war, I think having yellow as the main theme does a lot for how the country views itself.

    Gonzalo Jiménez de Quesada, Pedro Fernández de Valenzuela, Antonio Ruiz de Orjuela, Gonzalo Suárez Rendón, Martín Galeano and Lázaro Fonte, among many others. The deplorable state in which the new governor found the Spanish population established in Santa Marta impressed him greatly, since Santa Marta was then reduced to a few straw huts that had not provided sufficient accommodation for the number of men and animals that had just landed, reason why many had to raise tents. 2 Until that time, Antonio Bezos had been in command of the city, provisionally.

    Colombia is a territory with many natural resources, therefore, was colonized for the spanish people. Back then, the spanish people stole the gold of our territories, They turned the natives into slaves. But, the worst thing was that they finished the native culture. After, Colombia was a independent country, and started to form as a republic with Venezuela and Ecuador. Time after, the three countries were divided and each one was an independet country . So, Colombia acquired the name of REPUBLIC OF COLOMBIA, and create its own laws.

    You are wrong! Violence in Colombia increased once the genocide Álvaro Uribe Veléz got power for the first time. Then, against the Political constitution (1991), he declared himself a second term as the president. Knowing that citizens knew about his strong relations with drug dealers and paramilitarism, he continued in power through Mr. Juan Manuel Santos and Mr. Iván Duque, both presidents from 2010 to 2022 (Mr. Santos was Ministry of Defense in Uribe´s term and Duque was part of his political party. Mr: Santos remained in power for two periods as Mr. Uribe.). Please, do not misinform the world. #SOS Colombian government is killing our students!
