The camera work here is absolutely incredible, it belongs in a high end bbc documentary. Im curious if common milkweed uses the same pollination strategy.
I too am rethinking trying to grow this milkweed. No way do I want to kill bees and other pollinators! Thank you for the in depth look at this plant. I really want to help the Monarchs out but not with this one. I'm now subscribed and will look at your other milkweed videos. Getting ready to order some milkweeds from KU's Monarch Watch fundraiser so I'll try to get the ones that help them and don't kill anyone else!
Almamater8888 Thanks! That’s essentially the only way I could combat them, as well (no pesticides!), but still the plants just didn’t like where I had them planted 😥😥
@ I have too many aphids,( I'm in England) how can I combat nitrogen, I thought aphids aim for certain plants anyway, do you have any tips, I have huge amount of slugs but don't like slug pellets
Never seen a bee napping before, fantastic video. Thank you.
I don't comment much on TH-cam, but this is an excellent and educational video. More detail than most.

Will it grow being submerged in a few inches of water periodically?
Mine attracted aphids by the thousands so I got rid of them. I got tired of fighting them.
That was very good.Thanks.

Which ones eat the eggs.
I tried for 3 seasons to grow swamp milkweed. I never got blooms, only those annoying little orange aphids.
Margaret Mathis I killed the aphids on my swamp weed with my fingers, and they never came back.
