Love this place. The lack of heavy human presence is so obvious when you're there but I also removed a decent amount of fishing debris left behind while I was there. It's a special place for sure.
Not abandoned they are actually draining the reservoir as of last week to continue the work they started a while back. Weekends it gets pretty packed but the 20-minute hike just to get to the reservoir deters allot of people. Rangers patrol occasionally making sure you got your license and ticket people who bring any motorized vehicle. This has been my favorite spot this last year. Go out early on a weekday and you might have the entire lake to yourself. The crappie here are decent size and the bluegill are huge, the bass get pretty big as well.
Agreed, I tagged it as a abandoned just because the resort and cabins etc. are all abandoned and pretty sure they're never going to open the gates again for cars to drive in. I was there last weekend also and they're definitely draining a ton of water since the shoreline reseded at least 15 ft. My favorite place as well. Only thing that bums me out is I see people catch bass over 5lbs and take them home. Not my business though.
