As a “normal collector” who is only buying $100-$200 worth of cards for Series 1 and Series 2, Hobby Box is by far the most fun. Taking your time and ripping 20 packs with a solid insert in most packs, a few good parallels scattered, a potential auto and some luck in the silver pack… I think it’s the way to go!
Fanatic boxes are great. I’ve ripped 4 and got a true photo of Corbin burns, a Yamamoto Stars of MLB red to 75, a game used bat relic, like 4 golds, a green to 299 3 blues and obviously a ton of the aqua. As someone who prefers to hunt parallels rather then Autos, fanatic boxes are sick
I’d have to say my favorite format is monster box. You get 89 Foilboards, numbered parallels, home run challenges, rainbows, and sometimes autos/ relics. And it’s almost half the cost of hobby.

Hey Stryker, I collect the sets as is and replace any base cards with either royal blue, aqua, or yellow bordered cards. All three colors are really cool to look at, but I think they really standout when you look at yellows vs base bordered cards. Very very pretty cards (yellow bordered), and like you said... very collectible.
11:50 it's crazy how much do insert parallels of certain players go for. This could be 20 bucks. Pulled a /299 of last years' All Aces (Mathewson). Looked at the average sell prices for the same parallel of Ohtani - 200 dollars!
I picked up 2 hobby boxes at a local card show last Saturday. 1st box was a bust with a mem. 2nd box was hot! Scored a /50 Bryan Reynolds auto, Clear RC /10 & a Langford SP. Feast or famine and experience both.
I wish it were better for Canadians to get the Fanatics boxes...they're available on the website, but even with the exchange rate they've jacked the price by $7-8.
Both are good this year. I think the likely hood of getting dusted is higher with a Hobby over 3 Fanatics, but when you hit a nice auto out of Hobby it helps a lot.
The Fanatics boxes seem like a great option if you don't want to spend more money to get a Hobby. The downside is you have to order them, you can't just throw one into the cart at Target. I think the Hobby has a higher potential upside with autos and the Silver Pack. Both are good options IMO!

The only thing that helped was the bryce harper home field advantage, and numbered /50 gold chrome Jasson Dominguez from the MOJO pack. Hope my next 4 boxes aren't as bad.
My favorite format is Hobby because I pulled a golden mirror Carlos carasco a clear acetate mason Miller #/10 and a stars auto all in one box on my Birthday

I'd still prefer hobby's just for the ceiling and the silver pack. Better chances at low numbered parallels always outweigh un-numbered parallels that for the best players are around $15 or less
Judging by the rookie cup he didn’t have a rookie card last year in any of the flagship products. So they give him the cup and the RC logo. I know he had some in Topps chrome and bowman. But he didn’t have any in series 1 or 2 last year.
I went with hobby boxes for Series 1, and they were decent. I went with jumbo boxes for Series 2, and I may never buy a jumbo box again, complete garbage.
Jumbos are a waste of money unless you get a monster auto . I bought a series 1 jumbo and got a numbered /199 cowser auto and still got destroyed on the box . Moral of the story , hobby boxes and jumbo hobby boxes are wildly over priced . Thats why I Dnt mind retail
@chrisbrucculeri8988 one of my friends has been in the hobby for much longer than myself, and he only buys retail. I asked him about that a while ago, and he told me that all of his biggest hits came from retail, and when he realized that, he completely ditched hobby. I'm starting to come around to that conclusion myself.
@@Farmersload Its not a Rookie (RC). It's an All-Star Rookie cup card that many times come the year after the RC......completely different than a Rookie Card with the RC logo.
The difference is really going to boil down to two things we don't really know. 1) How collectible/valuable are the Aqua cards down the road and 2) How often do you get an auto vs a relic in the Hobby boxes
I don’t know how rare autos are in fanatics but I got one in my 8 boxes. Slightly less cost than 3 hobby boxes and that’s the auto rate in hobbies, 1:3, I think.

Are there a ton of Fun Face cards? There must have been over 100 listed the first day on EBay. I may be exaggerating but it was a lot.
The hobby box I ripped had a relic card BUT my silver pack had a Jasson Dominguez auto. Si I am probably bias to the hobby box.

He had flagship rookies last year. This is an error from Topps, and only looks to be on the True Photo variation.
