A brief analysis of the taxes by the Ghana Revenue Authority on an imported car. These taxes are supposed to be paid in full before the car can be cleared from the port.
So what will be the profit margin for selling such a car after adding the depreciated MSRP? Does it mean car dealers are selling with next to nothing profit?
Please tell me something is it possible, you can but a car and the clearing is higher than the amount you bought the car? My second question buying an overage car with less amount and pay the penalty and buying Laters car with higher amount which one is do you suggest?
I think paying higher amount that the car value is outrageously ridiculous, even it has happened quite a few times due to certain unnecessary reasons that I can't talk about. And to your second question, buy the latest car, at least with very low mileage, you will have the confidence of owning a better car
Eeiibei!! Paying education fee, covid , African union fee, on someone's Car 🚗 importation ? Na even the school fee itself is free, so why charging educational tax on vehicle which has nothing in common?...😅😂😅😂😅😂😅..What a scam and real robbery😅😅😅😅😅😅...
No one enjoys paying taxes anywhere; humans are selfish and greedy by nature. That's why governments have the power to enact and enforce laws to compel/encourage citizens to honor their civic obligations. Why can't the GOG think creatively about broadening its tax regime to include every citizen? Why can't/don't they enforce the law? More importantly, why don't they use the revenue they collect in a way that would encourage citizens to want to pay their taxes?
What do you mean that the citizens don't like to pay taxes. We pay taxes everywhere from buying used clothes, spare parts to dinning out. Togoleae and Nigerians don't pay a lot if taxes either but Duties are way way lower than Ghana. Ex 2010-2015 Lexus Rx 350 Nigerians pay only 4k- 4,500k dollars for duties and taxes while in Ghana for the same car is about 9,000- 10, 000 U.S dollars
@@kofiarthur3749 Please read well before you comment. I said income tax. Except you want to be mischievous, it is common knowledge the percentage of the Ghanaian population that pays income tax is less than 25%.
What do you mean by income tax? Taxes are taxes it doesn't matter how you call it. There's employment tax, vat, import and export tax, car road tax, car registration tax, road tax, school fees tax etc and they're all taxes that are already included in all these items and services that Ghanaians pay every day with knowing including you. Yes we might not pay enough taxes in order to generate huge income for the government but that doesn't mean that the Government must put all the losing taxes on imports. Doing that makes things extremely expensive and the citizens end up suffering. And besides after paying all these taxes look at the condition of Tema harbor buildings roads inside the port and outside the port. All garbage
Taxes involved so far to my knowledge doesn't exceed the value of the car but mostly Taxes count for over 30% of the value of the car imported which is way expensive for most individuals.
As it is now, it has become unreasonable to import car to Ghana
Hmmm
Thanks for the clarity @ Clarkcargh

If I provide service from India to Ghana, from India, is there any WHT for non resident service provider?
I don't think so
As citizens don’t want to pay income tax, government will use these methods to raise tax. Sad though, a very distorted system, smh.
Sigh!!

is a police officer in ghana considered a diplomat worker ? when they ship car to ghana do they pay duties?
The purpose of the car will determine whether or not to pay duty. If the vehicle is to aid police activities, then duty free and likewise
I shipped 2015 Toyota RAV4 xle last two weeks how much should I pay to get it from the port tema
How much did you buy the car?
55 - 60k cedis
Depending on the amount on the Waybill or Title but you should expect nothing less than 18k cedis
The system is not working 😂😂😂😂
😅😅
Please what does HDV means? is the same as custom value?
Heavy duty vehicle
Home Delivery Value, the cost of the car in the Home country when the car was new.
THANK U@@solomonagudey8914

Why are taxes not levied on the value of the cars. At times taxes levied are more than the value of the cars why
