I never really noticed the train beat growing up- was never a goal, but I've had to make it happen in pretty much every project I've worked with. Two albums I recorded featured a variation, and it took more practice than I wanted to admit, heh ✌️🥁
You never know what you're going to need. I've played with musicians who wanted to play it extremely fast - which was very surprising and challenging 😁Hard to keep from having a "train wreck" past a certain tempo😁
I totally dig your video. The first song that came to mind was Radar Love, by Golden Earring. That was the first train beat I fell in love with. Ballroom Blitz by Sweet is another one. Thank you!
@@leofender909 Thank you! I'm not from Kansas City but I've been here a long time. The jazz history in Kansas City is very interesting. Jazz thrived here because Kansas City didn't observe prohibition 😃
I’m self taught and I never learned rudiments through proper lessons. I agree 100%, it’s better to know and maybe never use then find out there’s holes in your abilities at a bad time.
Such a great lesson. Thanks!

I learned this in the 80’s when hard rock band Krokus covered Ballroom Blitz by Sweet.
I hit like and subscribed.

Can you provide the drum notation for this drum beat? This would help me to master it. Thanks.
I have it written out on a list of essential beats all drummers should know. It's free. just go to this link. subscribepage.io/lmrPhA
Your drum tuning sounds amazing. Also I see you're from Kansas city and the first thing I thought was "Man that's where Bird was from." 😂

That's the intro to Ballroom Blitz. Not so easy to play when you first try it.
Loved it! sounds like Cheap Trick - I Want You to Want Me
Thank you. I love that tune. I think they were better live than in the studio. That particular tune and live version is really fantastic😀
Don't play all of the Beats until the end of the measure
@@michelestone3194 thanks for your feedback. There are different ways to play the train beat. This is the way I play it
