Vans are pretty dead in the US. However... Li Auto got to where they are by building luxury SUVs. Their current products like the L8, which is a large 3 row electric luxury with 100 miles of pure electric range for in town use, and 500 plus miles of range on road trips if you use gas. Now THAT would sell like hotcakes in the US.
Elon Musk was right, if Chinese car companies were allowed to compete here in North America, they would destroy every single car company here. The amount of new cars that the Chinese are popping out each month is absolutely mind blowing, and all of these cars have extremely competitive pricing.

Good review number 31. I think it looks really good and I don't find it as polarizing as you suggest. It just looks a bit more modern than typical MPVs. What I do notice is that it's yet another indication of just how far ahead of the rest of the world the Chinese auto sector is. It's becoming ridiculous, by comparison in North American it's like the dark ages.
Is it really. When it comes to cars reliability and durability matters where Chinese brands do not excel so far and this electronics stuffed machine doesn't exactly inspire confidence. Sure it looks good when brand new and cherry picked for the review.
I absolutely love the way this MPV looks - the fewer lines you need to describe the shape of a vehicle, the purer the design is. I so wish they bring it to the EU/Sweden, so I may enjoy seeing these to break up the monotony of all these pointless SUVs (that only are big on the outside...)

I LOVE this! I'm a very big minivan enthusiast, and its design although also besides the frontlights, reminiscent of the amazing Staria cannot not remind me of the OG Rénault Éspace, for which I LOVE the three gens! It is SO peculiar!
2:30 I feel it looks like none of those things. It's just really really simple and clean. And that's fine, if unimaginitve. The lights are just straight. Neutral interms of their expression. Take a look at Arrical, Canoo, Lightyear, all of them use this style. It's just what's trendy at the moment. What is interesting about this design is how far down the roof slopes towards the back. That gives it quite a unique proprtion which I find really cool.

I had a Renault Espace III JE from 2002 as my 1st and last car. The Mega would be a worthy successor :) I´d remove all seats behind the 2 front ones and put my bicycle and E-Scooter in the trunk.

The robotic face looks fab; far better than most all garish and over elaborated front end designs so common today. You showed the Yangwang U8 pebble like car key recently, saying it had inspired that car's design. It'd be much more fitting to Li Auto MEGA.

Hard to believe that the west don't get luxury cars with their sedans. MPV is the right way for luxury, plenty leg room, excellent seats, and easy entry and exit. exterior is alright except for the large side windows. all it needs is raising the body side panels to shorten the height of the windows. Li Auto is correct to remove the engine, opting for EV-no engine vibration, noise, and exhaust. The Xpeng X9 also excellent but this Mega better for more adults riding together more often.

This thing charges faster than any car in the market, compared to the Denza it charges about 2.5 as fast, and Xpeng X9 needs 22 minutes from 10-80, while Li Mega needs only 11 minutes. Also the all wheel drive version of this is significantly more efficient than the other competitors. The interior seems more luxurious and spacious as well. So there is your competititve edge. And the hell is your second sentence talking about, the launch of this was only March 1st. Of course sales are low at the beginning. Just wait another 3 months... Do you know that Li Auto has a sales target of 800.000 deliveries, compare that to only about 250k for NIO and Xpeng. That just shows their confidence in their products. It is a little early to say, but Li Auto will probably be the only one to survive the fight to gain market share, without getting bankrupt.

I don’t understand the constant focus on how fast an EV charges. It must be the worldview of taking your car to local gas stations, which you don’t need anymore once you get an EV. It only impacts you when you travel far from where you usually park and charge, on long trips far from home. An EV’s charging speed needs to be just fast enough to allow for comfortable travel; doing more will actually hurt your battery and cost more for the higher capacity components. I own a Tesla Model 3 that can only charge at 150 kWh (it was made in 2018) but it does its charging while I am using the bathroom and getting a drink. In a few minutes I’m back on the road. I don’t need anymore than that.
This car would do so well in the US if allowed to enter the market. Shame we can't access some of the best EVs in the world.

I like the design, this should be the cybertruck. Without the stainless steel, slightly better aerodynamics and with the 500kW charging power.
