- In this video I catch up with a bit of landscape photography before practicing the art of looking deeper and observing the world around me. In doing so I find three new images of which two of them, would have likely been missed without fully paying attention to my surroundings.

Indeed the reed shot is stunning Simon, but all the shots are great and well thought through. Your hunt for compositions works inspiring for me, thanks for that. Next level. UK woodland is amazing and keeps giving. Love the little creeks. We need more creeks in forrests imho.
Thank you Martijn. Bank in the woods next week.
Absolutely beautiful pictures. The scenery is stunning.
@@errol1967 thank you 🙏
I love these images! My favorite is the water. I’m so happy to have found your channel!
Glorious work. So much talent on display. 😊
@@kevinbrowne3089 Thank you Kevin. I feel there’s always something worthwhile if you look.
The reeds photo makes me think of fireworks. Awesome!
Thanks Louise. I think it must represent that. A couple of viewers have said that over on my Patreon.
A lovely mix of things to look for on today's video. Cheers, Simon
Many thanks David. A nice variety.
Love watching your creative process Simon, the reeds and water are my favorite 👍
Glad you like them!
Today my favorite are the water lilies. They remind me of stingrays with their tail trailing behind. I so enjoy your slow exploration through the stream. And it paid off, the water shot and the reeds are lovely. Thanks Simon
And the reeds made the front cover of my eBook.
Love the image with the grasses. Stunning!
Cheers Rick
That last water shot is fantastic! How do you do that??? Amazing.
Just playing around with the settings and subject distance. That’s all there is to it really. Thank you.
Great set of images Simon! I love how you manage to find interesting parts of nature to share when you head out.
@@denisesavage2382 thanks Denise. I appreciate you taking the time to watch.
Hi Simon I was out in the Peak District last week just doing a recce in a new area and came across some Harebell flowers and knew there was an image available but thought to myself 'I wish Simon Booth was with me' 😂 I'm sure you would have found a composition. I do enjoy taking abstract images and that was what I was after. I didn't get anything that I was happy with although I did get a 'Simon Booth' type abstract later when I spotted some backlit grasses swaying in the wind. I added a ND filter and played around with shutter speeds. I definitely feel the more you look the more you see and eventually it'll be easier to spot compositions like you do. Great vlog once again with fantastic images and I love how you explain your set up and why
@@tuftyhill thanks for watching. I actually find harebells quite difficult to do justice to. As yet, I’ve never managed anything I like. The fact that they often grow singly makes the hard. And the wind never helps with these. That being said, it’s only a matter of time.
Thank you for taking us along for the ride 👍🏼
I can see that the water image can do something, but I am in love with the grasses 😍
I really like that one too.
Hey Simon, love watching you out with the camera and doing bigger landscapes, as we dont see them very often form you. Love you first bigger shot especially, and love that pano format one at 15:42 I know we talked some time ago about doing them in the woods, but this one - i really like. You should be 'appy wi that! Speak soon . Ewan
@@EwanDunsmuirImages cheers buddy. I really would like to do more variety in the films. In fact it’s my plan to. I just need to get my arse to the Lakes or the Dales more often.
Wonderful images as usual. I was especially impressed with how your video camera follows you around! Keep up the good work.
Thanks Larry. That’s the DJI Pocket 3 at work.
Words fail me so just a big thank you and can't wait for your next video. lovely images.
Thanks Alwyn 🙏
Lovely images, the one @ 15:45 is my favorite. Thank you!
@@brianmckeever5280 Thank you so much Brian for tuning in.
Quite a productive day I'd say Simon and what a beautiful area to be in. It's hard to choose a favourite image from these as they all look great. Hope the Ambleside breakfast was to standard for you. Safe journey home to you.
Hmmm, I can tell a tale about that breakfast. The cook had a choking fit during the entire time I was trying to eat it and to say it sounded gross is an understatement.
Keen observation leading to some lovely close-in shots. Inspiring.
@@philiplee9283 thanks for watching Philip.
Hi Simon really loved this video with some great shots, must admit the reeds is my favourite on this occasion. Best wishes .
Glad you enjoyed it. Mine too.
great stuff Simon, beautiful work!
Thank you! Cheers!
Those were all terrific Simon. The central unoccupied part of the lily pad shot begged for a stationary mallard drake that just wakelessly floated in on the current, but what a winner, sans canard.
That would’ve been great, but I suppose you can’t have everything John👍
What a beautiful location. I imagine it's a pretty popular place? Love those lily pads! Thanks Simon
@@blivieriphoto Hi Barbara. This location is right in the heart of the Lake District yet it’s one of the quietest for some reason.
Hi Simon, another great video. I like the lily pad and reeds the best of your shots today.
Thanks 👍. The reeds did it for me.
Lovely images once again Simon.
Thanks Glyn
The last shot, are very cool!!
I love the last 2 shots Simon
Thanks Neville. I think they were the best of the bunch.
This 3 photos are great! how do you find these great motivs ,Simon?
Slowing down is probably the best answer to the question.
Excellent video Simon 👍
Glad you enjoyed it
"An uneasy stillness about the day".... Well, that's the title of the photograph, now all you have to do is take it. Another enjoyable and interesting video. ☺
I think that might just be in a really hard image to show. But who knows, anything can happen.
I like the water shot best. I've taken shots of small standing waves caused by submerged stones in a small stream. Next time I get the chance, I'll try the close-up of a small cascade.
Water seems to create an infinite amount of opportunities for us. It’s always worth pointing the lens at it.
Mmm. Going somewhere nice but feeling discouraged because you can't see a composition - been there. That oppressive feeling when you realise that the world is battening down the hatches in readiness for nasty weather - felt that. Pressing on and capturing something like that water image - one day... 😄
Keep your eyes peeled David 👍
Nice video. I saw a face of an alien in the water photo. A very nice shot. Also the grasses.
It’s surprising where faces like that crop up. I tend to see faces all over the house in things like patterns in ceramic tiles.
Lovely shots, disappointed not to see the Langdales as they never fail to please
I do hope you go back in the fall for a wider landscape shot or two.
That’s certainly the plan, I just have to make it happen.
Hi Simon, I'm currently using some extension tubes with my Tamron 28-200mm lens do you know if a dedicated macro lens would, by definition, enhance my image quality (other things being equal of course) and, if so, are you in a position to recommend one? Thanks a lot.
@@AlanSprung Hi Alan
I only had extension rings at the start of my photography journey and took my most successful image on a 50mm lens. So I guess it’s the content that dictates the brilliance of an image. That being said, since then I’ve always owned a macro and always made by the manufacturer of the camera system. I’ve never tried third party macro lenses. They are however easier to use than tubes.
@@AlanSprung I’ve been asked to test this but it doesn’t fit my camera. The price seems ridiculously low. www.shopapexel.com/collections/macro-lens/products/zoommacro-macro-lens
@@AlanSprung sorry Alan. I just realised it’s for a phone 🙄
Thanks for that Simon 🙂
