I had the opportunity to get hands-on with Lords of the Fallen, the next big soulslike. I played one full playthrough and beat all the bosses. This game is amazing! Lords of the Fallen is an upcoming action role-playing video game developed by Hexworks and published by CI Games. A successor to the 2014 video game of the same name, it is set to be released in October 2023 for Windows PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and Series S.

Nah I'm good thanks
Just a small correction: you can die while parrying.
This is because parrying is not a separate mechanic from blocking, it is just initiating the block at a specific time, but do it too early or too late and you will die.
How? Why? Well, the blocking animation starts to play when you press the block button, but the blocking stance doesn't activate immediately, so there is a window where you can get hit after you've pressed the block button.
Hey ZioStorm can you do a video on an old From Software game it's called Kuon Alot of people have been covering this go ame recently snd i hope it gsin huge traction so from software takes. Notice and either does a re-releslase or a full on remake and mske the game better.
@@sujimayne what a ridiculous decision, you should not be punished for parrying lmao. This game is a joke.
*GODLIKE* video! Helped a lot! 👍
Here is a quick tip for people who took damage and don't want to waste a healing item. Pull out your lantern and siphon the glowing blue orbs that give you a soul flay charge. Doing this gives you some wither health back, letting you top off your health with an attack instead of wasting a healing charge.
nice tip
wow nice tip man thanks
See, I have this habit already built in, but thinking about it I will bet a ton of players who are relatively fresh to the genre probably won't.
Very, very good tip! And it also gives you an option that doesn't depend on expending other resources when out of sanguinarix charges, albeit one which carries a bit of potential risk.
You can also siphon from living enemies. It’s not very much so do it on big mobs :)
Edit: when I say living I do mean that explicitly, e.g. Umbral entities do not count as living
Oh yeah btw the red blisters give you WAY more wither health than the normal ones but they also explode, so don’t stand too close!
How am I supposed to do that when I’m getting absolutely molested by 20 mobs
Honestly Idk what game some reviewers were playing. This game is amazing
but the performance is really poor but besides that its amzing
@@-XXI- Bloodborne is one of the best games of all time and runs like crap. It barely mantains a stable 30 fps. Both Zelda games on Switch run like crap too
@skullkid964 okay? If they run like shit its fine for this game too? Honestly it completely ruins the game for me goes down from a solid 9 game to 6
FACTS 💯
It's not bad. I wouldn't say amazing because honestly the level design isn't great and the overwhelming mobs are annoying. But with coop it can be a fun time.
I figured out the Mimic thing myself after falling for 2 mimics and then studying them. It feels good that my theory was validated.
Using the lamp the vacuum vigor and the standing jump are huge tips.
The item to upgrade your lantern also does the same thing as the saintly quintessence. It has it's own icon above though it's blue instead of gold.
Wow thanks! Actually helpful, especially about the mimics and collecting vigor using the lantern.
im about 20 hours into this game and i am genuinely shocked at how good it is. the level design and interconnected world legitimately rivals ds1, ive had multiple "no fuckin way, im back here again?!" moments and when you get later into the game you can literally look back on the horizon and see where you came from, its actually kino. the combat feels super good to me too, i know some people dont like it but i think they are crazy man, the combat is as close as any dev has gotten to fromsofts smooth combat. its too bad the performance issues and connectivity issues are a stain on an otherwise outstanding game.
As a die hard souls fan I agree with everything you said although I've had nothing but stable performance at max settings +4k at 60fps...the devs released a statement saying their reports indicate its primarily due to people using settings their rigs can't handle and not downloading the dedicated drivers update ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@@Funko777i have a 3060 and used nvidia dlss and run the game at basically the lowest settings just to get 60fps in most cases with some dips to (45fps rarely) 50-55fps.
I have a 3060 with dlss and a mid tier cpu running at it at just below ultra with a couple tweaks on shadows and something else. I get about 60 fps all the time. Have you downloaded the new Nvidia drivers and the patch.@@leandrecook179
@Funko777 yea i mean to be fair my performance has been mostly solid as well. im getting upwards of 100 fps on my 4070ti at 4k on high. i think ultra really tanks the performance of this game sometimes honestly
One of the only things I don't like is how some enemies have no tell.. especially the ranged ones. There's no soundbite for them attacking or the projectile coming your way.
Also, I don't like the circular dashing, that mechanic has made me jump off ledges too many times now.
Omg that mimic tip is so helpful i didn't know that hahaha i've been shafted by them everytime :D awesome video man
Love the in depth tips. Such a fun game regardless of the massive amounts of enemies around every corner.
Thank you so much, dearie! This is my first time really getting into a souls style game (playing with the husband and son) and this has been super helpful. Now I can feel like a cool mom instead of the one always falling to their death. 🌸
Thats really sweet!
I knew most of the tips, but the stationary jump I did not know and that will be SUPER helpful. The game is a lot of fun. My only gripe is that mob density is a bit too high especially will all the ranged adds. It feels like it was tuned for multiplayer. Most of the other stuff just takes getting used to as you fall from those narrow heights over and over again.
I can't jump like that !!
What I use? X and R3 ?
Got my collectors edition yesterday and I'm absolutely in love with the game. A few stutters in the frame frate but nothing crazy. Gameplay is solid and I love being able to cast multiple radiance spells in quick succession like in souls. Str/faith build is my favorite
At first i thought it was my graphics card or settings. But when i watched a review, everything became clear.
Usually I avoid watching this kind of guides because of some possible spoilers, but I decided to give it a shot and just hide when something new appears so I can still listen and have the visual surprise later by playing the game and man, that was worthed to watch, you saved me some good time here, I had no idea with some mechanics and I cant wait to give it a shot!
The jump mechanic in a game this good is almost criminal, that's the single thing I wish they would allow us to change.
have you never played any of the dark souls games? they all had the exact same pitiful jump dude. if you are gonna criticize it in this game you damn well better criticize it in dark souls as well.
@@scraggliedark souls doesn't have shitty platforming
Dark souls 2 joins the chat
@@leoelvis524 Bruh u didnt just say that, the main negatives of dark souls games are the horrible platforming.
Did you play Elden Ring? That game has a dedicated jump button and it changed level design drastically. Look at Stormveil Castle, that design would never have been possible in earlier souls titles. Adding a dedicated jump is not that easy, it has a lot of implications that need to be thought through.
Id like to add that regardless of where your pointing the lamp while siphoning, the vigor wisps will come to you evidenced by the increase in total vigor in your counter. I've tested it out while farming an exploit and it works
there is one quintessence you get where you dont need to soulflay. In the mines in the part before you get to the cistern. You do need to go into the umbral though so a wall will disappear and you need to get to a platform by jumping or rolling down onto it.
Actual real tips I haven’t seen 15 times in other videos.
I just got this game and I love it. With the umbral parasites I was able to kill a mob without taking the parasite off by hitting till stagger and then doing the critical strike.
Awesome. Knew how to notice which loot is a mimic, but I had no idea about the lamp interaction. Thanks!
I already ended the game as a Infernomancer... it was quite, hard at early game, and since i played a lot of souls like, i learned to be patient sometimes!
My best tip, was to use the lamp "sucking soul" technique to throw enemies to the nothingness and save life and gain items/exp
(you can slow them and throw them to the right , left :)!
I accidentally found the ring of nourishment which basically gives heals upon an enemies death. I found it on the open area homes on the lower Calath area before the gates that lead into the boss fight.
You will encounter a non boss fireball caster lady with a tail. Inspect the homes on the left by the Vestige Flowerbed. I accidentally put one there, but there’s another flower bed at the bosses gate.
It’s not Sekiro death heals, but anything helps lol.
Definitely having a blast playing this game, thanks for posting some of these tips. Some I discovered just by experimenting but great vid 👏👏👏
Thanks for these and I appreciate that none of these are heavy spoilers. Cheers!
Did not know about the first 2 Ziostorm. I cant wait to get revenge on those mimics 😂
First actually helpful guide i've seen so far!
Normally i find with tips videos ive already discovered 99% of them through natural gameplay but i genuinely didnt know most of this and found it super helpfull!
My wife and I have been co-oping through since release. we are having a blast on the PS5, it does dip to 40fps once in great while 3 crashes total sense release, but I'm mostly a solid 60 with VRR & allm. Thumbs up.
I just picked it up earlier today and I'm glad I watched this video. Ty 🙏
Best tips on youtube! Thx Sir!🌟
I was waiting for this game for quite some time, but I can't say I had the same experience as you, unfortunately.
It's just my personal opinion, of course, but I feel like there are a lot of issues with it.
For a start, it's very roughly finished. I'm usually not the one to complain about framerates (you can give me 30 FPS and I'm happy with it) but here, the performance are awful. I played on PS5, and either you go for quality (in which case it's essentially unplayable) or you downgrade to performance (but the quality loss is massive and there are still areas where the FPS drop far below the acceptable level). There are bugs everywhere. enemies going through the ground, teleporting in and out of it. Hit boxes that are more than questionable, invisible stuffs your character get stuck on for no reason whatsoever.
Apart from that, the concept of the two world is genuis, and I love the exploration. The atmosphere is also bonkers, but all that get ruined by the combats, which, IMO, are clunky, tedious and extremely redundant.
I got to the third area and I'm already sick to death to the mages. The lock on is flawed to the core, often picking a random enemy in the middle of a group instead of the closer one. I died because my character refused to lock on something else than a hanging corpse (the one that you have to throw stuff at to get some loot...and which represent no threat to you, at all).
Sometimes, the lock on doesn't work at all.
Your character has a weird sliding animation when he attacks, which is awkward in a game that rely so much on gravity, and it often puts you behind you're opponent which makes encounters tedious to me.
Even the bosses, I found mostly unimpressive. The first one is so easy, I'm kinda puzzled by his existence (I understand he's a tutorial boss, but still. There's litteraly nothing there).
Pieta is visually gorgeous, and she's not uninteresting but I was shocked to see how much is scripted in this fight. There are a lot of attacks she does at specific moments. In fact, the first one she does (after she transforms) she doesn't even acknowledge you (you can casually walk to the side and watch her traverse the battlefield as if you weren't there) which I found a bit baffling.
I'm not sure I understood sister Delyth. There were supposed to be some puzzle related to her but her immunity went off for seemingly no reason and I was able to defeat her untroubled on my first try.
Not a terrible fight, but nothing particularly exciting, either.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying the game is inherently bad. I fully respect your excitement for it and I guess, in the end of the day, it's all about personal preferences. I can understand someone playing this game for the exploration part, for example (which again, is top notch, my issues are certainly not related to that) but for the rest, it couldn't be more of a miss for me.
I guess lies of P was the holy grail of none Fromsoft DkS likes for me.
It's a real shame, because I had put a lot of faith in LOTF. It truly looks amazing, and they had some crazy good ideas to begin with, but its shortcomings are just too damaging to the experience, for me.
When doing his jump mention, you also have to hit forward button as well.
Another thing regarding the special looking item vessels in umbral, when they carry upgrade for the lamp they have a blue glow around their head. Also one thing I found out, you can perform a special attack when you press block+heavy attack at the same time.
Yeah, we're all not fully aware of everything in the game yet. There's still much to discover and that's what makes me pumped.
Awesome video thanks for help with the angler
Excellent starting tips, nice video bro
I just picked this game up now that it’s finally on sale. Haven’t gotten too far into it but it’s pretty enjoyable. I’m glad the developers are really listening and working to make this game run properly.
Did not know you could pull them mimics out thanks! Subbed.
Wow thank you! There was some tips i didn't know and are veeeeeery helpful! God bless you!
Excellent tips! Thanks!!!
Awesome video, straight to the point, and communicated in a way that doesn't assume too much knowledge!
I'm overwhelmed with the difficulty and skill floor of combat. It's a tough game that's also rough round the edges, but I feel like I might enjoy it if I can get the hang of it.
think this game is hard? you would HATE lies of p
@@scragglie Tbh although the lies of p bosses are way harder, im dying more in this game (about 12 hours in) because the regular levels are so much more difficult, so I think depending on the person lords of the fallen could be harder since there is so much enemy spam especially in umbral
@@agrovy8473 well thats the whole point of umbral bro, its supposed to be hostile and difficult to navigate... how are people not understanding this..
@@scragglie I found lies of P easier somehow idk why. I feel lies of P bosses are hard but normal enemies are chumps (except that one police man fucker who is harder than the last boss of the game)
And in lies of P normal enemies hardly gank your ass as a group. In this the amount of enemies that they throw at you is staggering.
@@scragglie TBF the combat in LoP, at least for the enemies, is just bad.
Amazing game. Next "gen" souls game. That mimic design how it lures like in nature is BRILLIANT. Kudos to developers.
Bro you just changed my game with the lantern attracting the exp wisps thing
Great tips guide, very helpful thanks 👍 😊😊
OMG - these are so helpful, thank you.
Awesome, dude, thx a lot
Great tips, fantastic job! This game is a blast.
wow that mimic tip is insane, never though of that
Oooooh, that's how you get the item off the Umbral Moth... I've wasted so much time going around searching for it in the umbral world after the intervention 😅
God, the umbral trick was amazing. Really jod job!
Actually useful tips thanks man
Also to touch on the lantern siphoning, as long as you start siphoning and the Wisps are headed toward you which only takes a second or two you can release the Lantern and the souls will still be sucked up.
That sprint jump from standing is an amazing tip!
Only 2 tips in and dang! This is good stuff, man.
Nice thank you man!
I'm having trouble with a certain jump you have to be in umbrull to jump down through the cage and onto the platform below but I come up short every time how do you do that flip after you jump to get the extra distance?
Great tips! Several I didn’t know
Amazing tips! 🤘🏻 Thanks a lot! But, honestly, the stationary jump isn't very useful for me because I can only do it 1/20 times. I figured how to sprint from a standing position so, jumping gaps that have a small runway is no problem to me.
Does anybody know where to get the second upgrade material? I just beat the horse boss and still haven’t found any
The ball of the item also pulses on the anglers. I find that more reliable than the trails so I don’t have to wait 5 seconds before picking up every item. The pulsing is quick and constant. The trails goes between moving and being still so you have to wait longer to be able to be 100% which it is.
That is such a game changer, for the strategy against the umbral angler. Now they have nowhere to hide >:3
Another Lantern trick that isn't taught in game - you can choose the direction you Soulflay an enemy.
Normally it'll be towards you, so you can get those hits in to buildup Wither damage, however since the enemy gets pulled into the soul you flay out of it getting rid of a tough annoying enemy near a ledge is the best. And they even drop the vigor and look on the floor!
They tell you ingame but yeah
just a good video...thx ^^
I love the Metroid prime song playing in the background
Can you explain how Wither works in better detail? It confuses me most as a Block damage stat, which means it is also a damage type?
Hello thank you for useful tips, just tested that jump on keyboard but you need to press W also so W+Shift+key for jump in my case V so I have to macro this for mouse then ... while playing this game. Jumping in Elden Ring is so much easier... Even I feel like if you didnt it this was you jump higher.
Great tips
Thank u for the tips u r my savior
I only just discovered the anglers and how to counter them early this evening, but I didn’t know how to tell them apart- now I won’t just be randomly soulflaying the ground every time I see an item Lmao.
Playing alternate sessions between this and Lies of P and it feels like Christmas and Birthday at once, so tough and so rewarding. However it also reminded me that no game can touch Elden Ring. For all their beauty and brilliance these two games still have those limited smallish areas enclosed by doors or gates and Elden Rings genius was to just let you go anywhere
So agreed ....
Open world vs Linear level design. You prefer Open world is all. Bloodborne is my favorite game of all time and it has extremely linear level design. Not to say that Elden Ring isn't a complete masterpiece cause it is. Just personal preference is all.
@@jusspimpinyeah bloodborne and elden ring are probably my top two favorite games of all time and I couldn’t tell you which is first and which is second.
@@jusspimpin100% agree Bloodborne is a masterpeace and my soul favourite for so many reasons
neither this game or lies of p was hard at all, just gimmicks in both games that were "hard"
Very useful.
These are some actually useful tips!
Lords of the fallen is absolute 10 out of 10 !!! Its so good i didnt think it could be so good!!! Its insane! I will admit i started with dark crusaider only longsword and no sheild... Omg wow this game throws some shit as soon as I got to redcopse, i knew this game is different and once it clicked OMG! New king of soulslikes! Im even lookin at Elden different now.....
finally a tip video that are actually tips instead of other videos that give you stuff like "press start to enter menu" or some stupid thing like that :P
What is that giant sword you were using? Im using the proselyte sword from the fire guy at the very begining of the game and its really fun to use but that huge sword looks pretty badass too! Could someone please coment if you know?? 🙏🙏🙏
Finally a video with actually useful tips.
I knew how to tell the moths apart but didnt know you could kill them. Good tip as is the stationary jump one.
yes thankyou for showing TWO story bosses without disclosing spoilers, clap clap
Awesome😊
Seems like u can parry while dodging, i did it once last night but idk if it was a fluke , gonna have to try it again today when i play
I wish I shared your enthusamum for this game as you do. But ultimately I find the game unenjoyable.
The patches have trully helped this game. A lot of the initial issues I had with it has been ironed out and it runs much much better.
For people who are wondering about this game, LotF is really different from Souls. I recommend playing this game because it is really different, the closest it gets to souls is actually Dark Souls 2 which was the most unorthodox of the trilogy in the first place.
I played it blind, and enjoyed exploring all of its unique ideas and twists. It allowed me to experience something the souls game wouldn't give me. If I want the classic souls experience I just go play souls, I play LotF when I want something thats like souls but is different.
Does anyone know if level matters when matching with other players? I randomly joined someone at the intro and was pretty nerfed but I’m level 20 so I can’t tell
i cannot do the jump from neutral, has this been patched?
The secrets of all time!
I love this game. It will be evem better in a patch or two
This game took a few hours to sink in, but once it did it became one of my favorite games quickly
Im loving this game. Its def my favorite non-fromsoft souls-like. I dont understand most of the complaints people have had. Its not perfect, but to me, its a solid 7 or 8.
what does all the UI meanings stand for on the stat page? the hands, eyes, gold emblem, unbral scouring?
Multiplayer items that you can redeem for shaders/armor
@Ziostorm what are the gold emblems for? There is a place in skyrest to donate them, is that to do with armor as well?
I was very skeptical about the game but after a day I am very amazed at how well they did everything. Only issue is the HP of enemies and bosses. Shouldn't take so long to kill a basic enemy or a boss. It can turn a good boss into a bad one just by making it stretch out too long. Not too mention the only viable option for defense is dodging because there isn't a 100% shield.
Partying is also viable. Yes there's wither damage but wither damage CAN'T kill you. So long as you parry or block it can't kill you. It's scary but it's viable. You can also get health back by hitting enemies so...
He goes over this in the video actually.
Such ‘casual gamer’ complaints.
So many soulsborne have worse sponge health bosses.
I’d actually complain that bosses die toooo fast once you have a decent level weapon.
Really takes the ‘colossal’ out of the name colossal boss.
I hate fighting a boss for 15 minutes its boring@@Regianldo56
@@Wilhelm4131 did I say 15mins?
I’m talking about these bosses lasting 60 seconds maximum. And yes, I’ve finished the game. So don’t tell me I’m exaggerating.
I don’t care if it’s because I’m a souls vet or know how to min/max.
No boss should be 60 seconds long.
15mins, I agree.
I want a 3-5 min sweetspot. Not 60 feckin seconds.
I wish i could rebind buttons, i'm using a 360 controller on my pc and the sprint button just aint what it used to be
Very simple tips but very important. Also, dont miss a spot when doing a run. Flip the whole place upside down if you have to because there are places in the game that is very well hidden but the rewards are absolutely gorgeous. When it comes to sustaining, there are some spells that heals you, items that heals you and quips that heals... i see lots of people complaining that there are too many mobs in the game, but im rather thankful, why? Because i can just swing my blades and farm easily as if im playing Diablo. After i hit 180, the game feels really easy to the point that i dont even need to dodge or block, and just decimate a large group using dual short swords. Great swords are also very powerful against bosses because they can easily stagger bosses while dishing out huge amounts of damage.
And as a final word, the game is great. I hope they get motivated rather than be disheartened by mad reviews. Looking forward to the time where Lords can rival Souls, by that time, we will see rapid progress between the two because of the rivalry.
When I figured out that jump trick, I was hopping around like an idiot for longer than I like to admit 😂
Actual tip: upgrade your shields. The first upgrade makes it look like it works like in Souls, just affecting the shield’s stability, but if you continue to upgrade a shield, it can get some big jumps in the amount of dmg it actually blocks, unlike in souls.
Aside from technical issues, I’m loving this game
The tips were amazing I was stuck because of jumping
bruh I did that vigor farm where you run off the edge and the elite enemy chases after you then you blast the other enemy off too then rest and repeat then doing the afk glitch/farm that’s right there too and lvl up to 100 😮
Sometimes when i’m working g my way through these mid-game zones, I legitimately forget that i’m playing LotF and not Dark Souls
i haven't heard the metroid music in sooooo long
Actual phenomenal tips, thank you.
There's so much this game doesn't tell you. Every new tip I learn I'm like "MF that would have really helped me a week ago."
Haha yeah even the lantern thing I learned recently on my own snd was like how tf nobody explain this?!
How do you do umbral finishers ??
