3 May 1997. Katrina and the Waves have just won Eurovision for the UK, Blair's cabinet has been sworn in and you get a bit of Liverpool vs. Tottenham in Match of the Day as well.
This was the year that Middlesbrough was good, went for it, and lost everything. Think Juninho, Emerson and Fabrizio Ravanelli!
The story at 26:48. Brighton and Hove Albion survive in the football league! Who'd have thought 20 years later, they and the club I support Huddersfield town would be promoted to the premier league!
Up the Albion! Best of luck to you and your club too. Hope we both survive a second season in the Premier League.
