- A very good explanation with experiment of lonar crater lake water which is situated in buldhana dist., Maharashtra.
Many thanks to wonderful guide we got Mr. Rakesh Rathod. See the video how he explains the world's only crater lake formed by high impact strike of meteorite at this place around 55000 years ago and an amazing water test of this lake.
I know him personally, alongwith being a knowledgeable guide he is a fantastic human being too.

Yes. I just met him yesterday. Amazing guy, great knowledge. Keen observer. Showed me some excellent birds while giving a tour of open areas. Financially all these tour guides are doing badly in covid. If you go there, make sure to book one and help them.

Recently I visited Lonar lake on 14/1/23. I was moving with another guide. We found him on the way near lake explaining litmus test to another couple visitor. We requested him to repeat this test. He was very well equipped with knowledge and equipment's like lemon , turmeric powder, glasses etc. He explained everything in detail with very great enthusiasm. We were 4 persons. One of our member was renowned senior geologist doctor. He also appreciated the way Mr Rathod explained the mystery of water. As I remember he is Mr Ranesh Rathod. If you are going to Lonar please take him as a Guide if you are interested . We missed him this time.

Probably because of basaltic nature of bedrocks it’s highly basic

This lake has no outlet, created by meteor impact. Fresh water flows in but a different ecosystem has formed with algae, cyanobacteria, etc making the watwr alkaline (green glass). Other glass is fresh water from spring nearby. He adds haldi - turmeric which turns red in alkaline water. Later he adds lemon to neutralise it and turn it back to yellow.
