@Paul MacMillan sorry I'll probably never sell it. You'll have to be super diligent on watching the market for them to pop up. There's also a cherry and gloss yellow doublecut with a lightning bar from 2012/2011 to look out for too, they tend to be about the same spec wise other than having a lightning bar bridge and regular p90, which the pickup is a plus.
Green day/ Longshot are my favorite bands and this is litterally my dream guitar. For electric aswell. I fucking love these and they sound great. Gibson did an awesome job with it.
Getting your guitar professionally set up is a must in my opinion. I used to believe that if you buy a high end guitar that it is automatically set up perfectly. Not so. I encourage all players to get their guitars set up so that they can experience the optimal performance their guitars can reach!
I encourage all players to get it setup by a pro to start....then learn how to do it yourself...save a lot of money and can make changes as much as you need to!
There is a guy called Ryan in the US with a guitar channel on youtube called 60 cycle hum. He's alright. You probably have seen him. He done some crazy shit a while back throwing one of those cheap Epiphones off a bridge to see if it would survive? Lol. It didn't. He killed that thing. He also has a Squire mustang that he stripped & paints it different every few weeks with paint markers.
Tons of green day fans get all uppidy when people make fun of this song around this time of year. He's never seemed to be the type of guy to get upset about something like that. One the other hand cutting his time short pisses him off
It more the fact of he wrote that song about his father passing away when he was at young age he was really close to him It is rather disrespectful to make jokes at anyones close loved ones passing
@@j_freed not the lyrics but the meaning of loosing someone special I had a gf that passed away Personally if someone made fun of that id would be pissed
Love this guitarr. You should do a Tom Delonge signature for fender Friday, its pretty cool and weird for a fender because its only one overdriven humbucker and one volume knob
My first guitar was the Graffiti Yellow one and it is pretty sweet. Perfect for pop punk or punk rock where you just want a good distortion sound and no knobs to fiddle with.
I am impressed by the lack of hateful comments on the number of Billie Joe sig models. He is an adequate guitarists, but a great song writer and front man. A lot of people have taken up guitar because of Green Day, which also makes him influential. Gibson knows which side their bread is buttered on....sometimes. I'm talking to you Kiefer Sutherland!
I remember looking at the old Musicians Friends catalog back in 2006 seeing these come out with the 3 finishes and I wondered why there was an up charge for the Alpine White finish. Looking back now, I just didn't know. Now I am trying to get whatever ebony fretboard guitars I can and hold on to them.
I have a second run version from 2011. It’s a really good guitar. It has the Gibson deluxe tuners rather than the 50’s style. Three piece body. The fretboard is indeed rosewood, and a very nice piece of it. Still ink stamped. The case is brilliant. Mine has the black and white truss cover. I bought this model as it was the best Jr available at the time. I’ve swapped the bridge for a TonePros so I can intonate as I use 14-68 strings tuned in A; otherwise I’d just leave the stock bridge. I love the stock pickup as it’s hotter than a P90 and sounds great for heavy music. It’s not true hum cancelling but rather noise reducing. I hated the Pickguard so I painted it black, scraped the edges and then polished it. I also added black reflector knobs. Pots are stock 500k. I did swap the capacitor for a mustard cap as I have a bag of them but I wouldn’t bother buying “mojo” capacitors if I didn’t. It’s one of my best sounding guitars.
Cool Guitar Austin, try wearing a long sleeve black shirt with black gloves when you record the black light segment. You would disappear and the camera would maybe better focus on the guitar! Might look kind of cool.
Excellent review brother! I was just wondering if you had an opportunity to play the 2019 Gibson Les Paul Junior? And if so, how does this one compare to the newer model (non-cutaway P-90)? Thanks brother
What’s funny is that the stacked P90H isn’t in the guitar he actually plays. His has a regular Gibson P90. I’m pretty sure it’s the same with his double cut junior. Granted he really only uses the signature models as back ups since he uses original 50’s juniors as his main guitars.
Billie Joe's idea for it was meant to be a an open canvas guitar. For people to carve they're personality into it. Like stickering it or as stated litterally carve into the body. He didn't want to make a guitar that people would be afraid to pick up and play. Just for someone to just shred and really beat the piss out of. That's pretty punk rock
I’m wondering what amp you used for this demo? I know it’s s p90. But it sounded thinner than usual for a single coil. Kinda like a toy. Either way. I like these guitars. I have the Epiphone version of these lpj. It’s horrible. The wrap around tail just will not intonate properly. But the humbucker is great sounding
meh..im not much for the les paul junior look but I can see why people like it. You get the Les Paul style at a lighter weight and because there is no maple cap or carving done it's cheaper. I don't know why but I like those tortoise shell pick Guards... they have a vintage yet still modern appeal to them, at least for me. I wonder why this guy has so many signature model guitars? Maybe they sell real well for Gibson so they just keep cranking them out?
Got a 2019 Les Paul vintage les Paul on tabb burst. I've had it like 2 months. Looking to trade it for a junior with a thinner neck or any Gibson. It's got a big ole 50s neck and my hands don't like it
Most of Trogly's player grade guitars have been "lovingly played"; this has been abused - just as I typed that I heard him say it is "well worn ….. not necessarily abused". I disagree.
Abused is when there is are chunks missing from a guitar and excessive gouging. If it wasn’t for the glue incident, this would just be a work horse guitar
Obviously you've never seen an abused guitar lol. This one might just "appear" abused because of it being black. I have a black one that certainly has never been abused but you wouldn't know it by looking at it. In fact that guitar taught me a valuable lesson, no more black guitars! The only thing, as Austin pointed out, that could be considered abused was whatever they glued on by the neck joint on the back - who would do that??
@Ron Just Ron - not at all, but my opinion is based not only on the damage, but how short a life the guitar has had. Compared to other "player grade" guitars Trogly has featured, this one has accumulated as much damage in 14 years as a guitar that is 35-45 years old.
@LtCol Pulaski - I will agree with you that in such a short life it's seen it's share and then some of heavy use, aka "abuse". I will never in the life of me understand how some people can mistreat their instruments. I was not looking at it from your perspective and that being the real time age of the guitar vs the condition. I have one that's about 10 years old and it's been worn hard and put away wet way too often while at the same time I have one that's 20 years old and has very little wear. I purchased that 1958-60 Silvertone acoustic from Austin a few weeks ago. For it's age it's really not in bad shape. Had it not been for someone installing a pickup and the necessary electronics that Silvertone would be almost flawless, body wise.
It really won't be a hard sale, wear and tear on a les paul junior isn't a massive deal to the buyers looking for them...... but it does affect the price accordingly
I cant stand stickers on guitars. You peel them off then have to scrub all the sticky shit off with a rag & lighter fluid or turps & that cant be good for the finish. Same when you buy CDs then peel the sticker but the glue stays on. That pisses me off! Especially on guitars that are worth a lot.
That guitar really needs a refinish. Not because of scratches and big thing on the back, but to remove BJA from the head. Would not rock it until then.

You have to admit. Billie Joe’s guitars sound killer and keep a vintage vibe. And no one can play them like him. He’s an icon.
