As a HUGE Green Day fan, I love that they do these sales from time to time. I wasn't fast enough to get any of the guitars, but I love seeing stuff I've been seeing him tour with or post about for years. A bunch of these guitars were on his or his guitar tech's Instagram posts and stories. A bunch are in live concert videos of the band. Very very cool.
My fav is the Gibson Les Paul Special DC at 9:29 with its ice tea/cherry sunburst finish. Must be awsum to call up Gibson and say, "I'll take this! I'll take that!
I have several MIJ Burny/Fernandes Les Pauls - the one pictired is 1989+ RLC . The fretboards are not ebony, bit rather, rosewood stained a darker colour. Fret nibs also. Fantastic guitars.
I like the ES-335 from 1979 , the prototype ES-335 w/ P-90s , and the Diamond Black Sparkle ES-335 , also the fancy Flametop Double -cut Special...Thanks Trog !
I’d be intrigued to know if the ES-335 with P-90’s is a genuine prototype? I own an ES-335 with factory P-90’s, also satin backed, with very similar Custom Shop certificate Number HB075m
As an owner of a good few Les Pauls, my studio is still my favourite... Not sure if it's cos it's my first "real" guitar or if it's because there's actual magic in that wood.
When you say you have had a good few Les Pauls but say this is your first real guitar does that mean you have never had a standard? Because I have had studios and they are a step below standards. I much prefer standards. Even the classic doesn't hold up to the standards. Let alone a studio.
The Rebel Radio Junior was my favorite! I was going to ask if you caught their AmazonMusic live performance Billie Joe and Mike Dirnt played some really nice guitars during the show.
I personally don’t give a fig about anything associated with any celebrity, but I will say that I think it is very cool that the prices were mostly reasonable. Edit:I really liked the lighting bolt design on the white LP.
I scored a Burny for 200 bucks....better than all my Epiphones ( except the '80's Kalamazoo Spirit ) and most of the Gibsons I've owned. Looks amazing, sounds amazing.
I bought the ES-335 with P90s and the Burny Les Paul Custom. Both are very fun to play. Going to get both set up and use them to record the next EP with my band.
Burny. Not lawsuit, not involved. If not open book Ibanez, it wasn’t part of the Gibson patent threat. The lawsuit that never happened. Ancient history…
That 275 was most likely the guitar he wrote/recorded a good amount of the songs from the “Uno, Dos, Tré” triple album in 2012. They made a documentary about the production of the albums and you see him playing a sunburst 275 with p90’s quite a bit
I bought the “Tomato Soup” prototype Les Paul jr. Its quite a nice guitar. Had to fix some loose connection to get it to work. But I love the look of the single humbucker and the differences to the production model
Are you planning on putting a pickguard back on it? Glad you mentioned picking it up, it was a good deal IMO. I ended up buying the '58 reissue TV Junior.
@@tiki2777 Nice, I actually tried to get that one as well but I guess you beat me to it. I couldn’t checkout. I ended up also getting the Fender Cabronita. I’m not gonna put the pickguard, I think it looks better without, plus the holes that it has do not line up with the production model pickguard.
@PPPALVC ohhhh no you had to have been the one with it in your cart then (I saw the tagline when I hit refresh)! F Well I'm glad you ended up with not one but two models, that's incredible. I completely missed out on the first sale back in 2019, I really wanted the 2005 Les Paul Special Doublecut he used in the second half of the 21cb tour.
@@tiki2777 I wanted the one with the flag, as there are lots of videos with him playing it but couldn’t risk $12k and then if I ever need to sell take a big hit. Congrats on your new guitar, hopefully they increase in value with the new tour coming 👌🏼
Interesting thing about the black flag, Gibson actually copied the design from the original made by rock and roll relics for billie, they gave it to him for his birthday and basically forced him to put down the original
The DC tribute was such a good deal and release a few years back. I negotiated a floor model at guitar center down to like $490 when they came out. But I sold it to move up the guitar food chain shortly after. Now I wish I had it because the prices on new lp jrs and specials are outrageous
Hey Trogly I love your videos but I was especially interested in this one because I bought the machine gun guitar. It would not have been my first choice but everything gets snapped up in seconds so I was glad to get it. I have desperately tried to find out more about this pawn shop gag mentioned in the description but so far I’ve had no luck. If anyone can throw any light on this that would make me happy. The guitar itself is nicer in person it seems like a copy of a Hondo M-16 guitar from 1982 but there is not one identifying mark. It plays fine but I didn’t buy it for that, as a piece of music memorabilia owned by a band ranked 110th in the world on Spotify it has a rock solid provenance and even the slight backstory makes it 1300 well spent. Again any further information I would be forever in your debt… well not forever but a while
My brother had a Sonex like one that was shown but i recall the hardware and pickups looking rather cheap like a Silvertone knockoff. It didnt even have the Gibson name on it that i could see. It wasn't that good of a guitar. And i say that having had to modify a Global SG knockoff to get it to play halfway decently. I don't think id even consider buying a guitar for $3500 if I've got to go into it with managed expectations. Heck wouldnt do the other one for less if thats the case. I know i have 18 in my armament of axes. That's solid bodies semi and hollow bodies a few acoustics and i think i counted my Silvertone Bass in that arsenal. No i don't play all of them all of the time. I play which ever one fits my mood at the time. I don't care what anyone says the Fender and Squire Bullet guitars are good players. Ive got a Mustang paranormal and a Stratocaster bullet . Bot were very economical and play well. I only ever saw one Burny. It belonged to someone my brother played music with. It had the same design on the headstock.
The 2 enlarged dots make PERFECT sense, since every song just uses power chords barred at one of those two positions ;). They should do a 'hardcore' artist edition that ONLY has wire on Frets 3/5/7! lol
Its funny how frank iero’s reverb went totally unnoticed despite having some ugly ducklings in his store aswell as more realistic prices for guitars. Some of those guitars he sold were under market or just about market value, he really didnt screw anyone on it. Sucks that no one really gives him any credit despite being side by side with green day as they toured and headline almost any show they go to. Eh happens
I could never buy a guitar with no neck pickup. I need that fat bubble thing they do. I'd be to bored an probably lose inspiration while trying to write riffs. I need options .
I didn’t like ANY of his guitars. Maybe the 90 white studios with ebony boards but that’s it. These were all or mostly low end budget Gibson guitars that were like 2-3x what they’re worth. No thanks

and tbh i expected crazier prices

I'd love to see you dive into the high quality Japanese replicas, and how the lawsuit-era evolved into Fender Japan and Orville/Epiphone Artist.
Yup ESP Edwards and Navigator, Tokai, FGN
Yes, an episode on Orville by Gibson would be great, I almost bought an Orville Firebird, but I was wary of some of the issues it had.

Austin, the brown 335 with the P-90s HBO-73m is a 2011 Traditional Pro. I have one with the zebra humbuckers.

I’m an Epi guy, owned Studios, Standards, and Customs and I think Studios are just as good as either despite the price difference.
Get a good studio and you're golden! You'll eventually stray for higher end models, but always come back to it
@@TylerJohnstonGuitaryeah no.

I remember the first time I saw a Burny. I was convinced the headstock said Bunny. Lovely guitars now that I’m aware of what they are lol.
Heads up the LP Modern Lite series is broadly out at dealers and Gibson website.
in the video of making of back in the usa they showed the grech geting its edegs burnt with a torch

with how much Billie Joe loves his guitars, i wouldn't be surprised if he watches your show tbh
I actually look forward to the random TH-cam videos of the coverups pop up shows, just to see what guitars Billie Joe plays in his free time.
It comes with eyeliner and 4 chords.
What guitar does he use in bobby sox's video?
That's not flames on the side. Those are rip's in the flag.
theres a simple story behide that greatch that was on burnt. you can see the burning it in a behind the scenes for the "back in the usa" music video.
I own a burny, along with gibsons. The burnys awesome, and definitely fits right in the family lol
Yeah I was kinda mad that I also signed up and didn't get notified. I seen a few after the fact that I would have tried to pick up.
The black sparkle 335 is the dream
I liked the cardinal red jr with no pickguard, very simple, and all business.
Can't find the shop on Reverb
All guitars sold
Have you ever seen an es-355 with the inside painted? Because the one here I think would have been cool if it were painted red on the inside.
Trogly youve gotta review the lawsuit era LPs. I have a Burny and its pretty sweet. Feels like the real deal. Pickup swap may be approprite though…

Evening all!!
The gretsch at the beginning was set on fire in the behind the scenes video for it
That first studio in the music video is giving me oddly a less subdued "White Lightning"" Les Paul style. Custom in body, but studio for the neck
Those two dots are to show him where to place his hands for the two chords he plays.
You don't have to be a guitar wizard to make music. That's such an ignorant stupid thing to say. Are you Steve Vai?!
How original...
Two chords and 75 million albums sold. Pretty good ratio. How many albums have you sold, Mr. Guitar Wizard?
Oh so thats why i can never find em i always thought it says bunny. Gonna go look for one now
The Burny would probably more of a Steve Jones type of vibe than a Randy Rhodes 😅

Good stuff. Loved them all. I guess I share his taste in guitars.
trogly needs to put respect on Greco, Burny, tokai, fernandes guitars
Some of these are quite reasonably priced considering they're artist owned/played and the level of the artist - I'm looking at you, Joe Perry...
Guess I missed it. What is a "Burny"?
you can buy a DC for $700? where?
Why are only 2 dots enlarged? Because he plays that position of the neck 90% of the time. It's punk rock.
Burned up?!? Musta been that Woodstock 99 concert. It got pretty damn hot from what I remember. (and I don't remember much else)
