Not anymore. FRED hasn’t been used in decades since the EOT became much more than just a flashing rear end device. They typically only flash at night or when the train is stopped, per the operating rules.
I thought that I recognized this particular layout. He has always done great weathering and awesome looking units & rolling stock. It's cool that he allowed you to make a video of his hard work.
I've never personally seen his layout but from the pictures that I've seen over the years, it's a well put together layout with some unique features and great track work.
It’s crazy, I work next to mainline freight’s every day, and from 30 feet away. I don’t even hear that much noise from a real freight train with that much power. It’s strange how they don’t design the sound systems for more bass and a lower register sound signature?
I’m not sure exactly, this is my friends train. I believe they’re either Athearn or intermountain covered hoppers. The large open to hoppers are walthers woodchip hoppers.
I’ve seen bigger layouts, but his is no joke with an emphasis on rolling stock and locomotives. But his track work and scenery is on point. He is quite thrifty and resourceful in areas as well.
What about a layout tour? I was not impressed by the length of the trains or how you weathered them and especially the junk on them. As a former railroaded. This takes away the beauty and criminal acts that people should never do to any car!
Finally, a well done layout on scenery with realistic weathering on the rolling stock…..and no shiny metal wheels! Love it!
OMG I thought it was a real freight train. The engines have soot on them. The cars have graffiti and the containers are rusted. So realistic.
I'm glad his layout wasn't severely damaged when the roof started leaking onto his layout a few years ago.
Yes that was unfortunate. Tim does amazing work on his scenery & rolling stock.
Wow, everything about this layout screams realism. The graffiti, paint-overs, rust ,grime and etc. is amazing. The Eot device is cool too!
EOT device, is called FRED.

Brilliant layout I would love to live next door to this guy for the sound alone 😂
The owner of this layout did a phenomenal job.

Yes his scenery is very nicely done, as well as his weathering on all his trains. He’s a cool guy, and I’m happy I could stop over and see it.

Awesome video. Love the weathering and scenery👍👍👍
Fantastic weathering!
Awesome train
Great video! I love Tim's layout.
Seriously top notch layout very realistic! Great

Love your layout, love the UNION PACIFIC!!!!
That first train needs MOAR POWERRR!!!!!
Amazingly layout, but a backdrop would enhance this a ton... even just blue would help us viewers
Thanks, I will pass that comment on to the owner.
I'm jealous!
Cool
I’ve subscribed 👍
Thank you so much!
A boys dream
Fantastic in all aspects. Who makes those strange plastic pellet covered hoppers and ribbed side one's?

Monster eights like the prototype....your layout? Nice shot
No I wish! This is my friend Tim’s layout in Houston.
Who Made the 6 car - grey covered Hopper - ?
It’s my friends car, an Overland
Do a layout tour of Tim's layout if he let you.
I didn’t get video if his entire layout, but this footage is the back of the loop that isn’t normally seen in most of his videos.
I’ve seen bigger layouts, but his is no joke with an emphasis on rolling stock and locomotives. But his track work and scenery is on point. He is quite thrifty and resourceful in areas as well.
I recognize this layout, its very cool and accurate layout, that looks huge from what I've seen , when Tim has shared video's on facebook!!
Well, that's cool!
The only way to make it more realistic is by not using 6-8 engines use like 3-4
Thanks for your comment, but I think it is already very realistic!
It is cool to see some more engines using more of those real cars
Wow, graffity and all.
Too many locomotives
What about a layout tour?

They were obviously trying to make it look realistic, and succeeded.
