Hey Stivers! What beautiful tomatoes and great canning! I miss homeschooling little ones - ENJOY!!! You guys are so very right about planning for the future! Prayers for your mom, you guys, and the Tinkers wife - loss is never easy. Prayers for all of you to have peace and your family never changes! God bless you all and may your future be greatly blessed! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
How very sweet of you to share this advice. You two are so special, and you've made a lifelong fan of me! Salsa looks AMAZING! May God bless you as this next door opens.
PRAYING FOR YOUR MOM AND THE WHOLE FAMILY THAT GODS HAND BE UPON EACH ONE OF YOU. I PRAU FOR PEACE FOR ALL OF YOU. IT IS LIFE AND EVERYONE HAS LOSS. PRAYING FOR THE TINKERERS WIFE
I just watched your video and I thought the way you presented your end of life reminder was so compassionate and easy to receive bless you and we are praying for your family.
I love your canning videos! We bough 200lbs of tomatoes from a local farmer last weekend. I put half of the up last weekend and I plan to do the rest next weekend. I made diced tomatoes, stewed tomatoes and V8. This was the first year I made V8 and my boys love it! My 6 year old thanked me for making it. :) Salsa will be on next weeks agenda. :)
I hope all goes well for you and your family!!! Your right, we don't think enough or prepare enough for these things when we are alive, and we definitely should! Thank you for that reminder and thank you for the salsa recipe!!
Great talk. You pointed out things that are not easy to address. My mom faced this after my dad died. He had it set so she was okay. She worked because she wanted to... not had to. It is an eye opener. But it's like your garden. Preparation produces results. Thank you for sharing with us the good the bad and the ugly. I for one hope you compile your recipes into a book. I think you have great ones. I am sending wishes of peace and happiness for every day. Thank you.
Ty Zach and Jenn for speaking about such a difficult situation. People out there should look into that if you are able to take care of business. We all know how difficult it is and sometimes don't want to think about it. Protect your family and homesteads.
If I lived close to you guys, I would come and get me some tomatoes and cucumbers !!! lol And I know you guys would give them to me.. lol I LOVE, LOVE , LOVE garden fresh tomatoes.... I love you guys too.. God bless my sweet Stivers family.. ❤
You two are after my own heart. Many homesteaders will throw veggies out if there is a bad spot on them, but you do what I do, I just cut the bad part out and use the rest. Kudos to you!
Just to be saying .... My grandmother and aunt moved in with our family when I was 9 after Gramps passed. My little brother and I loved having our Granny there all the time! Back in the Depression years there were many multi-generational households ... even in the 2007-2008 recession! Family is what matters, and we help each other! ❤️
I understand what you both are saying. My Daddy passed away in 1981. He left my mother and my little brother who was 13, and myself. He thought everything was taken care of but it wasn't. So mother had to go to work. I had to go back to work. So yes please get everything in order. Loves and hugs from Alamogordo New Mexico USA. May God bless you and your family
At 64almost 65 it does hit home for us. A will is a must. Know this simple rule, a handwritten will in ink that is in an important place with other papers of value will stand up in court. Check your state but it is for NC! Prayers for your future!!! Patty is also in my prayers. Knowing that we will all meet again in Heaven is great comfort!
Praying for wisdom, patience and for everyone to remember what is important in this situation. Tough stuff but thank you for sharing and reminding the rest of us how important it is to make sure your “affairs” are in order. No matter what. Excited to see what is in your future!
Great thing to talk about. No one really wants to think about not being around but it happens. We things are figured out you truly can rest easier! Great reminder
Such a good point to talk about. I think a lot of people don’t want to think about death so they just put things off because it’s uncomfortable. Thank you for being so open with about the subject. Can’t wait to make salsa. God bless
Thank you for that important reminder at the end. It made me realize I needed to update my information with a previous employer that holds my pension. TY!!!!
Sounds like you all have it under control to me. I can relate to the sudden death heart attack scenario. I’ve lost 2 family members that way in recent years. Just had my heart checked out again for my own peace of mind. Thank Jesus it’s all good.🙏🏻 Family means everything. Don’t leave your loved ones in a hard spot.
Watching your salsa recipe and plan on making this year. Sad for you loss! But fast forwarding to summer of 2022 seeing all the changes God has made in your lives. God truly has blessed your faithfulness and brought your family full circle. Continued prayers to each one of you.
Oh, I'm so sorry, I had no idea. It's so hard to lose a family member. I've experienced this, as well as my sons who lost their father in 2016. You never know what can happen and it's best to prepare ahead of time. You're absolutely right.
You two have bought up a very good point. It is a reality that we should all make sure our family is taken care of. I am glad you brought it up. Sadly, it came out of you losing your step father but sharing with the viewers is a good thing. Tomorrow isnt soon enough to get it all in order. Love watching your family and your journey. ❤
I know I have said it already, but I love y’all so much! This video touched me on another level. I work at a funeral home and am currently fulfilling my funeral director internship. The things you mentioned could not be more true! It is so important to make sure our loved ones are taken care of. I see it so often where the bereaved family is left with nothing, having to make difficult decisions that they never thought they would have to. Thank you guys for sharing your lives with us! ❤️ prayers sent that you guys figure this thing out!
It's so important to plan for the future. Even though I'm by myself I make sure everything is taken care of so my son (21 yrs) doesn't have to worry about anything. God Bless your families!
My husband died of cancer in March of 2017. God bless the hospice people!!! They helped us get everything ready and straightened out before his passing. We had two weeks from the time we found the cancer to his death and two weeks isnt enough time to prepare...the people at hospice made it all so much easier for us. But I know what you mean...people dont plan ahead for death because frankly they dont want to think about it, but luckily for me, my husband did. Which at my age (58 at the time) was a godsend. Plan now or regret later.
Couldn’t get dad to write a will so we found out what all we could do when mom and dad passed without going to probate. When they came to live with me and mom needed a nursing home I contacted an elder law attorney. Expensive, but one of the best moves I ever made.
My Mother covered her jars with a dry towel so they cool slowly and seal better. Make thicker tomato sauce, then when you need tomato juice, open one and water it down to make juice. Works for store bought canned sauce too.
Thank you for bringing the financial subject up. Dave Ramsey, has many financial planning books out and has a radio show and is very good at financial advice of all types. More people should plan ahead for this type of thing. No one is guaranteed a long life. Plan ahead for your family who are left behind.
Extremely valuable conversation! My Mom and my husband were both diagnosed with lung cancer 5 days apart. They have both been gone for 3 years, and there are so many details to take care of when it happens, on top of the grief. Knowing everything is in place can be so comforting. I hope people take your advice and plan for unexpected events! Love your channel, fairly new here!
Yall are so right, check, and double check. Last Sept when I left the meeting with my Dr, I went home and started making those hard phone calls, made sure all the documents, and wills in place; because no one is promised tomorrow. Blessings To Yall
Absolutely understand. We were thinking about starting our own business and my husbands job as an offshore captain was so stressful that we were forced to start that business. It’s been a rough 4 years since then but we have been so happy since and that’s the important thing. So happy.
Every day is a blessing. Every day can be our last. We always think we have more time. My prayers are for you and your extended family. God will show you the way, he will provide. Keep the faith, God will bless you and your family you are all in his hands.
I think it's awesome that y'all are thinking of those decisions. Most people wait till later in life and no there's no guarantee on tomorrow. Looking forward to seeing what the future holds for you!
Forced into the dream! Best way to put it! Lost my father-in-law and house in hurricane Harvey within 30 days! We had a dream in mind and never thought we would get it, but our dream house became available the week we were able to move. Always have a dream and a plan ❤️
When my dad passed away, he had everything already in my brother's, sister's, and my name. It made everything so stress free. It gave us the time to grieve and remember.
Zach and Jen I appreciate the love that I see in such a godly man and woman and how much you care for your family and that you care for others. I am 63 year old Widow and since the passing of my husband I did exactly what you said and make sure that my children will have enough for my final expenses and hopefully enough for them to be blessed. As my late husband would say, in the words of Elvis Presley it's taking care of business. Thank you for your words of wisdom and for keeping God first and your family in your lives and on your TH-cam channel. God bless
It is so important to have all your affairs in order. As you so eloquently stated - we are not promised tomorrow. Your family that is left behind are the ones that, along with grieving, having to figure out hard things if plans are not in place. Please don’t wait for another day or another year. The most loving thing you can leave your family is the piece of mind that everything was up to date (wills, power of attorney over financial and healthcare, beneficiaries on insurances and pensions, etc.). It’s a hard topic but it’s part of life’s journey. Thanks for sharing what you are going through. My prayers are that your entire family are blessed with the wisdom to move through this season of your lives with love and grace. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Salsa is one of those things that caused me to want to grow a garden! Thanks so much for this video as one of my dreams is to can up a bunch of this yummy stuff! Yahweh bless you with the decisions ahead and build your family up stronger than ever!
This is so true and speaks to me as well. My mom unexpectedly passed at age 50 on 7/13/19. She left behind myself and my siblings and as the oldest I’ve had to step up and figure everything out. It’s exhausting. We are in the process of preparing for our children’s future as well.
:) I pray that God will give you wisdom and let you know his perfect will for your lives. I am also an only child and I understand how much is on your shoulders to make sure your mother is taken care of. God bless you and your family. By the way beautiful little babies, this video made me hungry for some salsa!!!
Thinking of you guys and your decision making. My Father in law passed 10 years ago, and my Mother in law couldn't afford the up keep on the house, so we purchased it from her and let her live in it for a minimal rent. It was hard for us financially, but we felt happy knowing that she could keep living in the house that my FIL built with his own hands. Sometimes, you just have to do what it right, even though it seems hard or not the best financial decision. We have no regrets that we made her life so much happier, even though ours has been a bit of a struggle at times financially. Bless you and your families and it will all work out xx Cathi xx
Omgoodness stivers, try fermenting some of those tomatoes for sauce! Super easy, and amazing. Carolyn over at homesteading family has a couple videos out. One on the fermenting instructions and one about how to use them when they are ready. THIS IS A GAME CHANGER! Love ya guys, another great video💛
You two are amazing!!!My kitchen is small like yours Jen and I hand wash everything even though i have a dishwasher but I don't use it and doubt if it even works anymore.Standing and doing all that canning is amazing!
I'm so sorry for both of your losses and you have my condolences I kind of know what you're going through my son was murdered November 26th 2018 so I know how you feel I'm sorry and you have my condolences thoughts and prayers will be coming your way
Zack, thats how I've been prepping my jalapenos for Poppers for years. I use cream cheese, asiago & smoked gouda mixed with chive, and either shrimp or bacon mixed in. Then wrap. Another good salsa video. Important Commentary you'll shared, particularly for youlls age.
Your message about making sure that people you love are taken care of when a loved one dies is so so true. Getting a will put in place is not morbid, it does not mean you will die the day after. It means that when you do eventually pass away your loved ones know what your wishes were, you will have a legal leg to stand on if things get difficult. I have seen the closest of families you could think of implode when their mother died, the fights about who gets what, and sister in laws pitting brothers against each other so they can get a pudding tin was heartbreaking. Leaving a detailed will and making sure that a much loved piece of jewellery goes to a granddaughter and a grandson is to get a old sentimental watch that would mean nothing to anyone else needs to be included. I knew my friends Mother In Law and she would be shattered if she could see how her children and 1 daughter in law are acting. Also triple check your insurance cover and make sure you are covered for what you want your family to receive and also understand you will not get a cheque 2 weeks after a persons death the paper work can take a long time to get processed and that process can also start the grieving again due to the questions and paperwork you will need to provide. More families need to talk about this so if a person dies very unexpectedly their loved ones know of and will honour the persons wishes. Not an easy subject for you both to talk about given your own loss recent loss but it is a message that needs to be put out there.

Such good information about taking care of business. I try to tell everyone how important it is to be prepared for end of life decisions.
Oh, I'm so sorry, I had no idea. It's so hard to lose a family member. I've experienced this, as well as my sons who lost their father in 2016. You never know what can happen and it's best to prepare ahead of time. You're absolutely right.

Very good talk many need to hear this. Looking forward to what your plans are.

I'm so sorry for the sadness and worry your compound is experiencing. May God walk with you through this journey.
The ball salsa is very good. Watching this makes us want to make some now.
Couldn’t get dad to write a will so we found out what all we could do when mom and dad passed without going to probate. When they came to live with me and mom needed a nursing home I contacted an elder law attorney. Expensive, but one of the best moves I ever made.
You guys are wise beyond your years. So many tragedies force change that will propel you forward in your life's plan.
Prayers for you all I hope it works out for the best Keep strong and move on....
My Mother covered her jars with a dry towel so they cool slowly and seal better.
Make thicker tomato sauce, then when you need tomato juice, open one and water it down to make juice. Works for store bought canned sauce too.
Prayers that you walk out Gods will for your family whatever that may be. Be Blessed.

You can also put jars with water in them to take up the extra space in the canner.

So sorry about your dad and friend.I know it's been over a year but prayers for your family.
Very wise and very true words, as they say, tomorrow is not guaranteed to anyone. Not trying to be morbid or gloomy it's just a fact.
