As a substitute for the D chord I found moving the “C” (E major shape) up a full step keeps the voicing on bass notes and although it’s not the rich bright sound you get from a D major it still works and also keeps in tone with the moody feel of the song
I was trying to play it by ear, so i came looking for info on the weird tuning in case i needed to hit different Hz or something and then i realize you version sounds AWESOME, so i just ended up learning it here. Thanks Marty.
