Love this song! The chord progression in the verse is called a Line Cliche and it is used on many of my favorite songs. Beatles Something. Rod Stewart I Was Only Joking. Adele Someone Like You. Motley Crue Home Sweet Home. Frank Sinatra My Way. These are just a few off the top of my head!

One of my favorite lessons. So fun and solid reminder to change capo position to fit vocals.

Gorgeous song, thanks for the lesson. "Please Come Home for Christmas" written by Charles Brown also has a similar 7th chord progression although it is uses A, AMaj7 and A7 instead of the C chords, the Eagles have a great version of that song.

You said you couldnt think of another example of the C sequence chords.......it is the same as 'Something' by The Beatles

That chord progression is nice but it was done previously by Alabama in My Homes in Alabama. Check it out.

Same three chords that open the verses of Something by The Beatles. If you're gonna lift can't go wrong with some George Harrison lol

Just found your stuff - love it - looks like you’re having fun. As an old folkie - this was pretty easy to follow. But wow - I’m struggling with the finger work in Falling Slowly - But thanks for making me work.

After the intial C on the first beat you then make chords changes on the 2nd beat during the verse. I haven't seen it done this way on any other tutorial or music sheet. It still sounds good either way, but are you sure they change chords on the 2nd beat during the verse?

    Just a suggestion.
Could you clarify that although we're treating this piece as if played in the open position (as if the capo wasn't there) that if we do acknowlede the cape the chords and notes are actually not as described?
Like saying "we're putting the capo into D# but were going to ignore that and pretend we are still in the open position" and then moving forwards. It's confusing having the notes be different to what you're saying without context.
    Other than that, great video.

I believe, Steel Panther uses that C - Cmaj7 - C7 chord progression too in their song "Weenie Ride". What I also like is the C - E - Am - C7 progression in that song (just before the 2nd verse).

Bravo, Andy! Such a delightful song, and had hoped you would follow up your vid playing this with a lesson. As you say quite a few chords but it's worth persevering. Leigh Nash's voice on the original is so sweet but it's Ok for a male voice too. Thank you.
