Building a Heavy A$$ Stand for my Enco Mill/Drill!

- New upgrade for the workshop! A while back I bought this Enco Milling and Drilling machine but it's in need of some serious TLC! After about 6 months of "seasoning" in the corner of the shop it's time to get this mamma jamma up and running. First step is to build a proper stand for the machine.

Nicely done and way overbuilt strengthwise which is always nice to see. Might I suggest getting an engine hoist for your shop, or build a gantry. Either way, will make moving things on and off the table much easier and lower the risk of breaking either tools or yourself. It looks like the chainhoist you currently have is stationary, so while useful, not always as useful as it could be.
Haha yeah that is defintely on the bucket list for the workshop at some point, but on the flip side at least I get a workput in 😁👍

Just ordered a new Precision Matthews bench top mill and I'm in the process of building a table for it. I went with angle iron for mine, but seeing this table makes me wish I built it with tubes instead.
Hey Dude! After living with this table for a bit I'd say I kinda overbuilt it... yeah just a little haha...angle iron sounds good to me, hopefully you got something thick like 1/4", it is nice to have some heft to the base to cut down on vibration, best of the luck with the build!!!
@@blaisegoldman Oh yes, very thick stuff indeed. I built mine to fit around a harbor fright 27" toolbox, using the toolbox itself as kind of a foundation for it. And, after seeing your video I went back to the steel store and got some of those big rectangle tubes for parts of it. It came out really good. about 300lbs of steel just in the frame, not counting the toolbox under it. I totally melted my TIG torch doing all those welds in the heavy steel. Why they would put a 150 amp torch on a 200 amp welder is beyond me.
@@blaisegoldman and I should totally add that I absolutely borrowed heavily from your design. I had no idea what my surface was going to look like, but seeing yours sold it for me. the top of my stand looks exactly like yours, thanks to your video. - it does a great job of catching chips!
