What are your thoughts on the colorsoft? Also, any good book suggestions?! I highly recommend Quicksilver by Callie Hart and A Tribute of Fire by Sariah Wilson! P.S. Sorry in advance about the fingerprints! 😅
I agree with what you said. It is a preference and everyone is entitled to have an opinion but in no way should make someone feel bad about their choice. I personally don't have an itching need to see my items in color. I enjoy seeing it in vlogs to live vicariously through them but I'm content with my grayscale, unless it's a sprayed edge. My new rule to myself is that I will only buy a physical book if it's sprayed edge and/or deluxe edition or if the cover is so epic! lol If the price were to drop enough then I might consider snagging it but how much would it drop if the signature edition is already 200$. As for the opinion of why are we allowing this? Unless they're an engineer and can break down all of the technology involved in a kindle and kindle colorsoft and say with proof that it's overpriced then maybe it would be a valid thought.
I definitely think if they brought this tech to a smaller, basic kindle too, it would be a game-changer if it was more affordable and all of the issues were worked out!
I love my Colorsoft and think it is worth it. I do see a slight … and I mean slight … yellow cast at the bottom. I have seen much worse in Onyx devices and also kobo, so to me it is no big deal AT ALL. I’ll be keeping it and have enjoyed using it very much. Thanks for the informative video.
They will release a v2 next year with another screen without the issue. Sadly its the hardware thats defect. I am lucky i had 4 replacements and the 4th one is okay to use, almost no yellow problem so i keep this one@@SummerSayre
Summer, I ordered a kindle colorsoft and loved it. I returned it after I started to get eye fatigue right away. My light was at 20 brightness so maybe that’s what caused it. Does the kindle colorsoft give you eye fatigue?
Oh no!!! I'm sorry to hear that. Mine doesn't - I keep it at auto brightness and it's usually somewhere between 8-14 ish depending on the light. My basic is probably my favorite of the bunch right now - or maybe the paperwhite since it has the warm light?
I tried two of the new Paperwhite 12 and both had yellow splotches and one had a page-wide white to yellow gradient. 😢 Returned both. Going back to my PW11 for now.
What I’ve come to notice from watching many many many comparison videos lol is that with the newer models dark mode has deeper blacks and better contrast. That yellow bar at the bottom is such a disappointment because Amazon is technically the last to announce the color e-ink and yet they have that stupid little glitch! I guess Kobo’s dark mode is pretty bad too tbh. I much prefer how Kindle’s dark mode is everywhere as opposed to Kobo’s being in certain areas. Each have their own pros and cons but I guess it all comes down to preference.
@ I believe the basic models are more crisp with text because of its recessed screen. Not like the paper white with its flush screen. Which I’ve also come to learn with my extensive viewing of kindle comparison videos lol
@ I’ve been soooo tempted in getting a basic. The new matcha is so cute! 😍 I love my kindle paperwhite SE though. It’s great and has been my greatest investment haha
Thanks for this review, I plan on buying one once they work out the bugs and the price drops somewhat. I really want to experience the colored covers but I am also a cheapskate 😆
It's hard to tell, but is yours really pixilated/grainy? I didn't have an issue with the faint yellow line, but I did return because mine was so grainy and on top of diagonal lines, trying to read was giving me a major headache. I ask though because I'm tempted to buy another one to try once amazon resumes shipping again 😅
Mine isn’t grainy but it just has the yellow… I just posted on TikTok showing the 2 they sent me… I’m so annoyed because I just want a cute working color kindle 😬😭
Thanks for sharing! I could only see a faint yellow haze at the bottom of your colorsoft screen. Overall, do you think it's as paperlike to read on the colorsoft compared to the paperwhite? Also, I want to reread Quicksilver after watching your videos. ❤🦋
Thank you! I think it feels a bit more tablet-like, but less tablet-like than the kobo if that makes sense? I'll have to do a bit more reading and comparison to the paperwhite. The matcha basic definitely feels the most paper-like which is interesting!!! Quicksilver was so good - I can't wait for book 2!
They drove me actually insane while I was editing this... it was worse than I even thought it was before! I need someone to explain to me why it's so fingerprint-y compared to every other model 🤣
@@SummerSayre- I think I saw somewhere online that it does drain your battery more. I have not put mine in airplane mode, which is supposed to save on battery, but in all honesty I keep thinking why do I have to put this in airplane mode to save on battery . My battery drains fast when I’m reading.
THIS comment. I commented on another video that I noticed that everybody showing this has excessive fingerprints and that is something that drives me absolutely nuts. I can understand not wanting to put it in a case, especially with with wireless charging, but I could never handle the fingerprints if I had this device.
@ no it’s driving me wild, I don’t know why it’s so bad. It’s making me feel like I’m really dirty but in reality I just washed my hands so many times to prove it wasn’t me in this video. I wanted to keep cleaning it but I also wanted to keep it real 😬😅
@ Haha! Well, I will wait for your video. I have the colorsoft and I’m not impressed by the yellowing, and ergonomics at all. Plus I want to ditch the dark overlords at Amazon once and for all, but I want to make sure the kobo is a decent equivalent.
@NOSfusion I really like my kobo libra colour! Did you see that review I posted a couple of weeks ago? If you’re not a fan of the kindle ecosystem too I’d definitely say it’s a good device. I love the buttons too!
@@SummerSayre I did see it, yes. Actually led me to this video. Never owned a kobo before, so I’m apprehensive about switching. Awaiting your comparison video, thanks.
Is the price high yes but its only £80 more than the non colour kindle signature edition. So you paying £80 for colour & i know the colour eink technology is more expensive so i dont think its as bad if you think about it that way. Of course its up to you as the customer if you think its worth it if not simply dont buy it or wait 4 sale. Im sticking with my kindle fire was £50 for colour & iPad mini 7 working 4 me perfectly.
@@SummerSayrei agree really loved quicksilver but would say first 50% is slower coz of world building and setup the other 50% was way better couldn’t put down at that point

Finally! Somebody actually using the device and not just unboxing.
Thank you! I felt like it was important to show real use

Thank you so much! I think I will keep it… I have yet to post the second unboxing so maybe you guys can help me decide!
The yellow line for sure shouldn’t be there. But errors happen and at least they are fixing it
Yes, I'm hoping for a fix soon!
No fix, hardware issue amazon announced only in 3 to 6 months they replace it.
@n4pl1k38 they already sent me a replacement so sadly I don’t think I’ll get another one from them 😅😭

@n4pl1k38 wow they sent you that many?! That’s so lucky! They stopped me at 2 and told me to get a paperwhite instead

It's so disappointing that they sent all of these new devices out like this... I'm trying to be hopeful they'll fix it!
It seems like a really interesting device. Thank you for sharing your experience with it so far.

I couldn’t get mine too 100% until I used the charge cord that came with the kindle, originally I was using my IPhone charge cord
