    Such a coincidence! My only collection that I’m building is also Pokémon AND I needed a leaf green and soul silver which I got recently to complete 1-4. Good job on the repair btw

    I attempted to fix my sapphire that wouldn't load and only went white screen. Now my gameboy won't turn on if the cart is inserted. How much do you charge to repair?

    uh, it never crossed my mind that one could fix a game card

      Oh for sure! As long as the rom chip (and save chip in new GBA carts) are intact and function, you could even buy a brand new PCB to swap them onto (something I was prepared to do with this one).

    I ran into the same problem. Thanks for this video. I hope to do the same steps. Lol I'm still new to soldering, flux, etc etc lol

    What does it mean when it says the 1m sub circuit board is not installed

    I assume the weird save in front of starter was an attempt at shiny hunting

      Oh good point. I hadn't even considered that.

    Can the chips in these games be replaced if corroded too bad?

    • @MattPassarelli
      @MattPassarelli  ปีที่แล้ว

      So in theory I think they can. But I'm not sure if a chip you'd get off eBay or something would have the ROM on you. You might have to find a way to flash the game ROM onto the chip once it's soldered into place.

    I have a leaf green and sapphire that have some issues with saving and loading, but I am not exactly educated on where the issues are on the board. Would there be any chance I could send them in?

    • @MattPassarelli
      @MattPassarelli  ปีที่แล้ว

      Unfortunately, I don't really take commissions or do repairs like that. Just for liability reasons. I appreciate the confidence though.
      My best guess? Sounds like the EEPROM chip is going bad, which is the chip that ISN'T the one I touched and resoldered. It's what holds the save game. Either it needs its solder reflowed, or completely replaced. Not a terribly hard task to with the a reflow station and the skill. If you have a local repair shop near you, they might be able to help.

    My fire red started crashing at the home screen each time and the eternal battery on my silver version died.

    What would you recommend if there is oxidation?

    • @MattPassarelli
      @MattPassarelli  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Like full on rust? I guess try isopropyl and have good luck.
      If it’s just blue/green corrosion. The same, but you’d probably have a bit better luck with it.

    I have a question for you since you fix games and whatnot I also have a copy of Pokemon leaf green iv had for awhile and it loads up and whatnot but it says that the 1m circuit board not installed but nobody has opened it up till today when I tried to have a repair guy fix it for me but still didn't work what can I do to fix this?

    • @146208s
      @146208s 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I have the same issue, its from my original Leaf Green copy i got when it came out. Everyone tells me its a fake copy because of the 1M Error but I know its not and lost my original save as a result.

    • @Lokigrim13
      @Lokigrim13 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@146208s is there a way to fix it exactly? I still have it but I wanna play it again

  • @Ohmemes
    @Ohmemes ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Wow. Will it work on bootleg cartridges?

    • @MattPassarelli
      @MattPassarelli  ปีที่แล้ว

      Technically, maybe. But bootleg copies have a very different circuit design to them. So any videos like this one you see probably wouldn’t be all that helpful.
      Also, IMO unless you’re doing it for environmental reasons (right on), bootlegs are so cheap and easy to come by. I’d just buy a replacement.

    Thatd be so cool to learn to do

    • @MattPassarelli
      @MattPassarelli  ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Do it! Grab a simple soldering iron and start small! Building the skills and learning where to look for problems comes over time as you begin to tinker and try new things!

    How much would you charge to fix something like this
