    I'm a semi-retired stagehand. I've worked 3 WWE gigs 2016-2018. I usually would be put on the Video crew. Security was crazy. All the stagehands get searched everytime they come back in for going outside for break. The common unspoken rules I learned from some of my older gig brothers was don't do anything with your phone while on deck. If they suspect you of leaking pics or footage online, you're dismissed and blacklisted from working anymore WWE gigs. We were also told to not engage or talk to the 'Talent'. Unless they spoke to you first. When we were done with load in. About 20 of us stagehand were leaving the loading dock and a wall of fans were out there and they would go nuts and cheer for us. They didn't care that we were just stagehands. People still wanted to give me high 5's and fist bumps. It was awesome.

    If there's one thing I respected more in my 18 years of watching WWE than anything else is the setup crew. Without a doubt, the most hardworking people in the WWE. You have to respect what they do on a weekly basis. Awesome video! Never actually watched a WWE setup get put together (except through pictures) but a full video of everything is just neat!

I think that's why the wrestler the Ultimate Warrior said before he passed at his Hall of Fame Ceremony that while the wrestlers put their body on the line it's the men and women who set up the stage each and every week for hours, days, weeks, months and years on end who should be thanked and recognized just as much.

    • @Hevybehemoth91
      @Hevybehemoth91 9 ปีที่แล้ว +53

      It is all scripted and is fake to an extent. Everything is planned and communicated before and during the match, they know it's coming. However if a 16ft fall is in the works that fall still has to be taken by someone, even if it has a set landing area which might have some level of safety too it, (for example mats under thin wood or a weaker than normal table) there are still a lot of risks involved. The landings have to be right, the positioning. Even everyday moves have risks involved.
      Miss your cue, don't tuck in your head in at the right time, don't roll enough during a flip, stand in the wrong place etc you could be in serious trouble.
      To me it is never about the "fighting", it is a spectacle, It's a show. They're actors, they're in on all of it but there is still plenty of pain and risk there, they are their own stunt men.

    • @JonathanStrickland
      @JonathanStrickland 9 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      I think it's pretty interesting how the WWE has evolved over time, and I think I can guess what's going on - you had the kids of the 80s and early 90s who grew up watching the stuff become teenagers and young adults. The WWE morphed into the Attitude era, which appealed to people who were now too old for the more simple storytelling from the past. But then over time those folks started having kids of their own, and now those kids are getting into wrestling, so we've come to a bit of a circle. Sort of a middle ground between the cartoony stuff of the 80s and the more gritty stuff of the mid to late 90s.

Don’t sleep on the production truck getting those instant replays out in the blink of an eye, the pyro guys firing everything perfectly, the lighting crew getting the spotlights correct during the show, cueing everyone’s music right on time, it’s wild that they do this every week and everything looks seamless.

    I've been to 3 WrestleMania events live and the Raw/SD after and a couple of NXT events. The greatest experience ever even if you're not a fan of wrestling is to be at WrestleMania. I've been to Several Independent events, 5 WWE Raws, 4 SmackDowns, 10 WCW Nitros, 2 WCW House Shows, Several TNA House Shows, 1 TNA Pay Per View and 1 WWE Superstars tv taping in my area. But nothing beats WrestleMania weekend, there is a feeling that is indescribable when you come to that town to stay for a few days to a week and you get into the building with 79,000 other fans there and you feel that collective roar and the building feels like it's moving because of the energy in it.. And you see the awesome set up and you are looking forward to seeing the peak performances of the year right before your very eyes. It's very cool. It beats the World Series, Super Bowl, Stanley Cup, and the NBA Finals. It even tops Kiss concerts. WWE does do it right when it comes to large stadium shows.

    WOW! I've ALWAYS wanted this video to exist. Thank you SO much! There are so many times where WWE shows a fast forward of the arena being setup up but never anything that actually focuses on it. Thank you for making this Jonathan Strickland and thank you WWE for allowing it.

    WWE brand themselves on having a Worldwide fan base and calls them the WWE Universe. But they wont ever host a PPV outside of America. If WWE want to grow they need to give other countries a PPV. Who knows maybe the UK will one day get Mania. The UK have by far got the best crowds

    I never thought about how much goes into setting up for each show with the crews who travel so many miles show to show getting everything set up to getting everything torn down. You guys are incredible for all the hard work you put into the time, dedication and being away from your families 👏👏👏👏👏👏 Huge Amount of Respect from me to the unrecognized but greatly appreciated Set Crew members. Thank you for doing such a great job.

    My grandmother recently saw a clip from survivor series and she was taken back by the full arena, I showed her a clip from wrestlemania 39 and she couldn't believe it, then I showed some footage from all in at Wembley and she thought it was crazy how popular wrestling is still, these aren't some small time shows, WWE and AEW put a lot of time into the production and putting on excellent shows, everyone from the stage crew to the ring crew should be proud of what they do 😀
