You can turn on subtitles because the "warden emerges" sound always plays even if they immediately teleport, it helps to check if they actually spawned or not and you cen see the other subtitles (warden approaches, warden advances, warden draws close) to know how many more shrieks you need

I love hearing mango’s like trepidation approaching the wardens. Very cool that vanilla mc can still bring a little excitement to the most accomplished players
It’s so weird seeing mango work in a world that dosnt have en expiration date. This server will hopefully be around for years so everything is worth doing well and to last. Unlike other series where it didn’t matter if things were quick and dirty
This might clear up your confusion on the Warden sometimes not spawning: Every time a player activates a shireker, that players warning level is increased by one. For every ten minutes of not activating a shrieker your warning level decays by one. The Warden is only spawned once your warning level is at three and you activate a shireker again. Subtitles are super usefull to keep track of this, since each warning level has its own subtitle. The Warden only becomes hostile once it detects a mob or player three times, that means causing vibrations, standing within 6 blocks while the Warden is sniffing or bumping into it. So you were fine to just sneak up to the observer and break if you let the Warden's anger decay first.

I love that you're using Distant Horizons for this, now. It's perfect for all these insane-scale projects without killing your performance. Until now, I hadn't seen anyone actually use it in a survival series, let alone on a server, so this should make for a much more visually-impressive experience!
I think a lot of people would watch videos of you exploring some of the more technical Minecraft mods. I think you would be able to create some really impressive automations and systems with said mods. Anyways Great video as always. Excited to see more sci craft
really loved the additional drama to this episode, definitely was fun to watch you struggle a little in survival :) as a hint, I think the wardens can only shoot you if you're a certain distance away from them, so if you're worried about being shot, staying closer to the wardens is safer then trying to fly away
I like to see the survival struggle tbh. even if there isn't that much progress in the episode then. I had a similar proplem and it's nice to see how other people handle it
A quick way of killing a large number of Wardens is to drop dripstone on them, 13 dripstone will do enough damage and it hits all Wardens in a 1x1 area. This method takes roughly 10 seconds to kill any number of full health Wardens once set up with a simple self-flipping trapdoor to place the dripstone on.
I would never mess with wardens as they are too dangerous. I think the shulker-based mob switch is much more easier to do (once you have some shulkers in overworld or nether), not to mention the endlessly safer maintenance. I have shulker mob switch for nether in my world and silverfish mob switch for overworld and I'm thinking of replacing it with the shulker mob switch too since shulkers do not despawn accidentally. Anyway quite funny episode :D. Thanks for it.
In my testing, wardens seem to select the x and z coordinates randomly, but the y coordinate they spawn at is always the highest spawnable space, so I'm relatively certain there's no need to clear the area underneath.
I really enjoyed watching the survival struggles, not just because it was entertaining (although it definitely was :D ) but also because it was interesting to see some of the ways this can go wrong. I plan to build a warden farm in my own world and some of these issues are good to know about.
I do appreciate you trying to wing it in survival and was fun to watch your challenges thoughout the making of this machine... I wouldn't say give up on doing this its definitely fun to try do stuff in survival first time only. Next time you have a small machine that you think will be straight forward I would say give it a go in survival
I am sure that every minecraft player had days like these, where everything goes wrong. One basic thing fails, you try to fix it and make matters worse only failing on trying to fix it again and suddenly EVERYTHING turns against you. Almost always when working with entities though ^^
The fact that he can so casually say things like "Yeah we were thinking of making a perimeter in the nether" like its no big deal... like at this point we should be used to that but STILL
I think the weakness of ianxofour's video was that he failed entirely to mention how to bring those silverfish to the nether for a nether mob switch, making zillagers, wardens, and shulkers better mob switches for the nether; which I'd argue zillagers are the best mob switch anyway, because you can breed them on-location in all 3 dimensions, not that you can keep much loaded in the end, but still.
When you lost your items and went back into the nether portal, you could have stayed inside since it won't teleport you again. That way u can just pick up all the items inside.
I think maybe the wardens kept despawning bc they were still in their „crawling out of the ground“ animation and possibly a player has to be nearby so he can crawl out completely? bc i build a nether warden mob switch aswell a few days ago but I sent them trough the netherportal using water streams after they already came out completely and it worked perfectly fine.
Funny Idea to unload the Wardens. Just build it at height 0 on bedrock, destroy bedrock with tnt, hand just have a piston pull the fllor and have them drop out of map
I did the exact same thing and forgot to place the twisting vines. I tried dripstone (ran out), arrows with dispensers (not straight), and then eventually thought to use minecarts to entity cram them and it worked!
