Tucker, as a Shopify business owner myself, the way I avoid things like chargebacks from happening is if the order is flagged as Medium or High Risk I ALWAYS email the customer to provide me with their license. Normally if the customer refuses to provide that, it's a red flag. Everytime a customer has provided me with identification regardless of the high risk marker, there is never a dispute. And if there were to be a dispute, you can provide the email evidence through Shopify and 95% of the time win the chargeback and keep your money. Anytime a customer ignores my email of concern, I cancel the order and continue on with life. Hope this helps! 🙌🏼
Good tip on the license! I always email and hit them with a bunch of questions. But many times they will provide convincing answers and still be a scam.
My son got me hooked on your channel. I can't stop dreaming about flying! Just bought a new DJI Mini 3 Pro, closest I've gotten to flying. Looking at taking lessons starting on 9/25/22! Can't wait. I just bought another shirt from you, thanks for the new designs, and the give away, fingers crossed that I can get lucky for once. Take care, fly safe!
@@jahsunshine8891 So very true. After I lived in Germany 🇩🇪 I learned that very lesson. And I kinda of like the date/month/year sometimes. But it all works.
About that last scam: yes, that's typically how the scam *starts,* with the victim being out whatever "shipping" they paid, but it often continues after that. The scanner will continue making up fees, taxes, etc. until the victim finally catches on and stops sending money.
It's good to see you going back to the simple fly and talk format. I had started looking back over your previous videos to get my fix, while I am on a flying hiatus myself.
I've been seeing this scam reported by all kinds of youtubers. Doesn't matter what the subject, almost every one of them has reported being hit by this exact 'prize winning' scam.
Someone had told me that the scammer said they won a Freeride glider. Which is scary to know the scammer had done some research to know that's the wing I fly. 😬
@@TuckerGott doesn't take much for a bot that can analyze the autogenerated close captions on your videos and establish a best guess as to what to say to make a minimally convincing post.
Tucker, there are methods to make sure people can't chargeback when it is legitimate. On wing purchases, you should start requiring a copy of drivers license to be uploaded, or a picture of front and back. Also, a copy of a bill showing their name and shipping address. Then a selfie holding their license next to their face. Doing this makes sure that the person buying the wing is the person who owns the card and it becomes impossible for them to dispute the charge. It's so wrong that you're trying to help people get quality gear and they are doing this. The other thing is you can dispute the chargeback if you can prove it was delivered and that the address is theirs. Banks commonly don't really look into it and they just chargeback. If you want some help, let me know. I have a lot of experience with this!
I wouldn't buy from online vape shops when they started requiring sending photo ID. You requesting all that would 100% kill whatever sale you might have had. Not saying I'm a scammer, but I don't trust your opsec at all. Sorry, but the scammers run rampant as we all know. I personally got took sending a bunch of used high end GPUs to brazil using USPS. Tracking goes dead as soon as it enters brazil, so ebay and paypal will reverse any order shipped to brazil using USPS. Lost like 4 grand...
I hate scam and scammers, this is a good video Tucker talking about this issue. I hope this video will educate peoples that would have otherwise gotten caught into their webs. Fly safe peoples!
Thank you for posting this. I have recently been getting notices from certain TH-cam channels that I follow saying that I have won a prize and to go to a certain website. Since I was not really interested in their prize, I did not follow up, now I know it was probably a scam.
Hi Tucker, love your new T's and ordered and received 2 yesterday. Thanks for such prompt delivery. It’s a shame about the scammers but those AH's are everywhere. Appreciate your video's and hard work. Joe
As a business owner I've dealt with this a number of times... often in the $1000s of dollar range. It's sad there are people out there who pray on others like that... and sadly the consequence is next to nothing if they get caught. Back to the ol' days of "1st time you steal, you lose a finger... 2nd time you lose a hand... 3rd time.... well let's just say there won't be a 4th time" haha
Yes these scammers are being clever. I text one scammer that claimed I won and when he said I had to pay 150 bucks for shipping I knew it was 100 percent a scam.
Thanks for the heads up, Tucker. I was eBaying some stuff this week when I noticed twice that buyers were very suspicious. One in particular was providing a known scamming address in Florida. Google reviews on the address showed them claiming to never have received the item and the seller getting charge backs because of it. Selling is really becoming tricky online. I hope some future changes will help mitigate these issues.
@Scott Leonard, getting scammed as a seller on eBay is extremely rare. If you provide tracking and it shows delivered to the correct zip code, eBay will not hold you accountable, even if there's a chargeback. eBay is one of the safest ways to sell online. My business has been doing it for the last 20 years sold tens of millions of dollars worth of stuff on there, and I can count on one hand the number of times we got scammed as a seller and lost money. It's less than $1000 of losses in the last 20 years and tens of millions in sales. There isn't any other platform online for selling things that has a record that good. We sell on Amazon, and other marketplaces too, and none are as safe for sellers as eBay. Yes you can get forced into returns, and the buyer can lie about the return reason, but the losses there are minimal.
Keep up the random commentary vids pls. They're really personal and intimate and I just love getting the real you with random shenanigans at the same time!
I always like to look for an extra layer of security when doing business. In your situation, anything over 50 bucks, send out a confirmation email with all details necessary and then ask them to confirm their order and payment. Once confirmed the order will ship. Hope this helps if you are not already setting this type of protection up already.

I was scammed on two emergency parachutes during Covid as you couldn’t do business face to face. First one was stolen and we got it back to the owner, but had a tense moment with the police until I was able to provide information that I saved on my phone. The second one I made sure it was not stolen but the seller said it was complete. When I received it, the shroud lines were cut as well as the shoulder strap. I am at a loss what to do with it now except I don’t purchase anything without seeing it first.

Hey, Tucker.... about 30 years ago I saw the writing on the wall concerning Jersey and the ever increasing restrictions and permitting on everything that was individually enjoyable. I am enstranged from my family because I refuse to return there to live. I love the geography and everything that Jersey had to offer for fun, but it has become a regulatory dumpster fire anymore. You might consider moving your base of operations for your own sanity. Stay safe, brother!
We also see scams from legitimate dealers. As you know dealers in the USA are expected to quote retail to everyone that inquires about a new wing or any gear for that matter. What Ive seen in the last couple of years is "dealers" that dont have a actual school or business selling this gear for cost plus $100. This drastically undercuts the legitimate dealers and destroys the US market not only for original sales but re-sale as well. This is a grave threat to the legitimate dealers who are playing by the rules. If I were to sell wings or gear at discounted pricing, I would lose my dealership with that company. The guys that dont play by the same rules need to lose there ability to order gliders/gear or the legitimate dealers will soon be put out of business. Unfortunately this is happening more and more making sales more difficult. Not only that but if I offer gear to a student and they are offered same gear for a massive discount, I now have to explain to the buyer my position and it never goes good. The market needs to weed out the guys doing this so we can continue to represent these companies. Thanks for sharing your experience.
Yup. That is their hard work - scamming suckers out of their money. People got good at spotting it - then technology and digital communications came along. Now, there is a significant percentage of new "digital suckers" - you know, then ones who can't do anything with a device and proudly boast "ahh, I don't understand any of this technology crap". They talk about wanting a flip phone again - they believe literally every email, message, or text they get, and are ripe for scamming. Don't worry, they will die off soon, lol.
its absolutely pathetic how the governments don't do anything about scamming. literally had 3 people try to scam me the other day from me posting my snow boots for sale. its literally non stop. 2 of them were guys with Facebook pages w like 500 friends etc and they were able to disappear before I could report. super frusterating.
I wouldn't share too much on how you weed out scammers. You just told them how to get around your thought process. As a fellow online retailer, we like to keep how formulate when to cancel an order, a secret.
These "call me" scams like TH-cam is making money off it because they don't seem to be doing anything about it. I keep getting messages from these same scam accounts. Even after reporting them multiple times they keep popping up.
Seeing TH-cam has been tightening the screws with content algorithms these days….hopefully they will figure out who the scammers are. I’m seeing more and more of them scams on here. Anyways nice Video Tucker! NJ in the house! Nice flight across the state BTW👍👍👍
I had that happen to me on countless number of vloggers including this channel. Fortunately I know if they don't have a verified checkmark from TH-cam it's a scam. I just report it as misinformation and leave a nice little comment saying that they're not welcome here and to politely tell them to leave
That same impersonator Telegraph scammer has tried the same thing on Trent Palmer's channel aswell Tucker. You're not the only one mate. Be safe champ and Fly Hard
Paramotor scams!!!!! What!!! Epic video man!! I’m about to order a new moster185!!!! I love your videos! Thank you for sharing!! Love your new shirts!!
Dude the 3rd scam is happening everywhere. Every channel that has a decent amount of subs, I'm getting those people sending me messages on the comments that I post.
Yep! That was my experience. I was told by "you" that I won an Ozone Freeride. I was too excited...until I saw the hook: all I had to do was send $250-400 shipping fee based on my delivery preference. These guys stay awake at night thinking of ways to rip people off, they'll do anything to avoid getting up for work in the morning. Thanks for the video Tucker, keep them coming.
Why would they get rid of a huge chunk of their users (scammers fake accounts etc) and risk becoming less competitive in the market? They're "smarter" than that, this is why we *STILL* see phishing scam links in comments everywhere, youtube does not care about any of it's users just numbers.
Disabled veteran that would love to get into the sport, on fixed income kinda hard to do but I'll enter and hope for best, regardless u doing awesome shit, awesome life congrats
Tucker look up the person who wrote a script to auto delete the scam comments. I forgot who the channel is but they made a script that you can download for free and it will automatically flag and then delete them if you want.
Due to my work and where I live, I have a separate billing and shipping address. The bill goes to my accountant but any receivable I have sent to me at my mail service box. It has caused some confusion but most businesses deal with it in a reasonable way. Never, would I scam anyone. In fact, if I sense any doubt in some type of purchase or deal, I'll just back out and go elsewhere. It's a shame scamming is becoming so prevalent.
I would love to see a review of the open ppg electric paramotor. seems like the reliability of electric motors would be a great safety factor. Curious if it has sufficient power and range. I'm betting you could get one to review. thanks
Scammers suck. You made a business for yourself doing something you love, but clearly you put a lot of time and work into it. Then scammers come and steal from you.
Hey Tucker love your content. It's sad to see people doing this, I have an idea, hear me out. Get members of your community you trust and make them mods and their specific roles are to weed out these accounts and comments, with a few of us "employed" for lack of a better word it would help crack down on it. Like me :) I'm usually bored most of the day anyways may as well help someone who's kept me thoroughly entertained and shown me sights Id never get to see on my own 😂.
I started flying planes at 16 in the 70’s. Very expensive hobby. Glad there are less expensive alternatives. My son flys for SkyWest with Embraer 175. Follow your dreams with flight. We are really short of pilots. Military requires college degree, majors only the hours. A great career!
Tucker, as Im getting ready to order some merch, the thought crossed my mind, do you have any interest in making velcro patch versions of the stickers? It would be awesome to be able to put some patches on the ceiling of my truck, bags, gear, etc. Anyways keep up the good work!

Man....is PayPal a more secure method for a small business ? What about having a mandatory Zoom Chat meeting, that you can record for business purposes on larger transactions with a visual of Driver License...?
It wasn't very long ago when there was a mad dash to move from brick-and-mortar enterprise to online selling. The very activity that sunk my old employer RadioShack. Now some 20 years later the online world is having to deal with fraudsters and slime-balls. Scammers just will not go away. Tucker it is a shame that you have to be especially diligent with ever customer, It is hard just to accept them as being on the up and up. You are a good guy and I hate that you have to deal with this mess,
I certainly hope those scam sites just don't ever ship you the wing... if they're actually shipping sketchy or counterfeit wings that's pretty terrifying.
Please put the graphics on the back of the shirt. I know it may sound silly. Having grown up in the Southern California (surf culture) where tee shirt wearing has a code; no graphic on belly, small breast emblem, small one on right sleeve, and graphic on back. Here, wives, kids, family members all know this code. Putting the graphic on the back is what they see when you leave, way cool. Also for the people with larger size in the waist won’t purchase them, it’s embarrassing to distort some nice graphics. I’ve been trying to explain this for years. I’m 64 and have bought tee shirts for a LONG time, all my old surf buddies also. Increases sales. Ask any of the big surf wear companies? I’ll bet they know. Good luck , and blue skies. B license sport jumper.
stop taking cards for purchases over $100.00 bank wires for $4,000.00 wings a $70.00 bank wire is the cost of doing business for the consumer, or certified checks (wait for them to clear) and U.S. post office money orders, on $100.00+ orders.
They are getting very bad with the scams they tried to get me a few times in fact I gat a text yesterday from what looks like a video editor but its a scam thats what they do.
Scams come in.many forms. Like shotty business practices from shady sellers of paramotor products as well. You all are enjoying and want and unregulated industry. Well you better start cleaning up your venders because some of them are creating a bad image. These jokers want to make money and have a business but have zero business ethics...most have not registered with any agency and have zero licence to sell to the public. So after recently getting burned out of hundreds of dollars and being left on the ground (which really pissed me off the most) I decided to start an investigative information site on para product venders. Hope you got your businesd.licences in order. We will be publishing the names of these companies and thier infractions as well as thier licence status...Sucks that I have to take time from actual flying to regulate an industry that I fell in love with...

its absolutely pathetic how the governments don't do anything about scamming. literally had 3 people try to scam me the other day from me posting my snow boots for sale. its literally non stop.
Dang bro the cyber world is full of pirates glad to support through your videos and merchandise hope this problem drops off for you Aloha
That same impersonator Telegraph scammer has tried the same thing on Trent Palmer's channel aswell Tucker.
You're not the only one mate.
Be safe champ and Fly Hard
Glad you have recognised the scams, there;s some awful trash out there
Paramotor scams!!!!! What!!! Epic video man!! I’m about to order a new moster185!!!! I love your videos! Thank you for sharing!! Love your new shirts!!
Tucker you have to come overfly the Finger lakes up here in NY. There are lots of places to land and camp.
I've seen the Impersonator on three popular YT channels so far. I reported them a bunch of times to YT but the accounts remain active.
Yeah these scams on TH-cam need to be talked about. Seems like TH-cam would have a way to stop it. I enjoy these talking fly videos too!
Why would they get rid of a huge chunk of their users (scammers fake accounts etc) and risk becoming less competitive in the market? They're "smarter" than that, this is why we *STILL* see phishing scam links in comments everywhere, youtube does not care about any of it's users just numbers.
TH-cam is only concerned with stopping politically conservative voices.
Disabled veteran that would love to get into the sport, on fixed income kinda hard to do but I'll enter and hope for best, regardless u doing awesome shit, awesome life congrats
wwwResurgence PPG
Thank you for the awesome content and the value your channel offers!
That sucks dude 😢 hope you keep catching these @&$/ers
Hey Tucker love your content. It's sad to see people doing this, I have an idea, hear me out.
Get members of your community you trust and make them mods and their specific roles are to weed out these accounts and comments, with a few of us "employed" for lack of a better word it would help crack down on it.
Like me :) I'm usually bored most of the day anyways may as well help someone who's kept me thoroughly entertained and shown me sights Id never get to see on my own 😂.
That's insane, you don't make $4000 on a wing, but you got to buy the whole thing when scammed, that is rough man
Scams are all over. It's crazy. They even act like cops and stuff
What are you going to replace your Maverick with? Another one? Why?
Hoping for a second paramotoring survival video like that one where you landed on a small island between a river.
I'm very curious max alt with a paramotor? Obviously oxygen levels matter so with oxygen and without would be cool. Who's got a answer
I started flying planes at 16 in the 70’s. Very expensive hobby. Glad there are less expensive alternatives. My son flys for SkyWest with Embraer 175. Follow your dreams with flight. We are really short of pilots. Military requires college degree, majors only the hours. A great career!
Everything is illegal in New York, too.
These are your best videos. Just flying around talking about whatever. Sorry you got scammed dude.
Tucker, as Im getting ready to order some merch, the thought crossed my mind, do you have any interest in making velcro patch versions of the stickers? It would be awesome to be able to put some patches on the ceiling of my truck, bags, gear, etc. Anyways keep up the good work!
I got scammed too, but with a cheap ass phone.
Surely you know where it was posted, send in the paras!
6:30 I rewatched 5 times because I thought you missed a bleep. Turned on the captions and the word is "Funky". LOL (Not offended at all at the word I thought you used just thought it was funny on the missed bleep considering how well you do with your quacks.)
Wow‼️ I'm really liking that Gin Carver‼️🪂
Man....is PayPal a more secure method for a small business ? What about having a mandatory Zoom Chat meeting, that you can record for business purposes on larger transactions with a visual of Driver License...?
Easy fix for chargebacks only ship to the billing address likely credit card scammers are not going to use the same address as the billing.
Man paramotoring is such a nieche activity I'm surprised there are any scams out there. Sorry that happened to you though.
@Tucker Gott is there insurance on your end? to minimize your loses?
Definitely the Space flight tee. My fav also!
If i see those text me users anywhere on youtube i report it im trying to do my part.. if its too good ro be true it probably is folks
You are a good guy and I hate that you have to deal with this mess,
You mean I am not already a winner? Dam, now I have to buy more magazines! Thanks for posting this video and sharing the scam info.
Wondering if you have done a video on harness setup for the Parajet maverick
Hey tucker I would like to know what apps you use to fly.
B license sport jumper.
damn i made it here almost instantly, nice vid!
stop taking cards for purchases over $100.00 bank wires for $4,000.00 wings a $70.00 bank wire is the cost of doing business for the consumer, or certified checks (wait for them to clear) and U.S. post office money orders, on $100.00+ orders.
Betcha we all know where THIS scam came from.....
I don't get it. Surely you will win the chargeback case if you can prove you've sent the wing out?!
Hey there is a damage in your bodies glider please make sure to check that glider before going for Rep next time I saw the glider was ripped a bit by the lines at the back
I've seen these scams on other blogs that I follow, so it's apparently a worldwide operation.
Nice garage and flights !!!!!
