Another good day of fishing!
What structure or pattern are you fishing? Do you use your electronics to find fish/structure then fish that area? Or are you just trolling and covering area?
If I am going to fish cypress and Tupelo oxbows without electronics where should I start?
To be honest I am basically fishing the area. Just floating along till I find some fish. If I see some bait fish flipping on top of the water I'll fish that area a little harder. This sonar is kind of old, it's a humminbird helix gn2 side Imaging down Imaging double chirp sonar and it don't show a whole lot of structure but you can see some stuff so if I can see it I'll try to fish it. The sonar is mainly for temps and depth but it will let me know when I do see a fish in the area, about how deep he is sitting. That way I can adjust my bobbers closer to the top or closer to that 3 ft zone. I fish between 1 to 3 foot deep 99% of the time. One of the reasons is because most of the crappie come up to that 3-ft feeding zone to follow the shad and feed on them.
Lol I agree with you this is My favorite type of fishing
Yes sir, definitely some good fun and good eating. Thank you.
Another good one. I like that you don’t use cheatscope. Nothing more boring than watching a fishing video, with someone staring at a screen playing a video game.
Thank you. Yes Sir. I have never used one of them. I have watched some live scoop Videos before and it does look like a video game. I know a lot of the challenges are not there But I guess that's some of the fun for some guys. One thing is for sure it is pricey, way out of my price range. I actually bought my humminbird sonar uesd from a friend for 500 bucks and I thought that was too high. 😂
@@FishYanker Yes sir. That just shows you have experience and skill. Also instinct. Your right, live scope is way to pricey. Down imaging and side scan is good enough. I wouldn’t buy live scope, it takes the fun, challenge and mystery out of fishing. To some its like dope, they got the live scope dope addiction.
I have livescope, and I tend to agree with you. When I got it , it took me 1 year to pay for it. Also I thought I was going to catch tons of crappie with it….nope. All I learned is that there wasn’t very many crappie in my lake…..when the body if water has a decent population of crappie, you can catch them with regular fish finder.
@Arrigo_Outdoor_Adventures I have scanned the whole lake with my Sonar sometimes and never see a single fish but you'll catch one here and there. Then other times I see fish all over the place. I think crappie or great at hiding.
Yank!!! Give’em heck YANKER!! Good ole mess of crappie in December!! Can’t beat that with a stick!! Thanks for sharing and have a great week!!
Yes Sir. thank you Proud Papaw. We are going after some more. Hope your week is great as well.
Can't beat a cool day catching Slabs!
It sure was fun. Thank you 😊
You could always put a plastic bead between the bottom bobber stopper & the float stem
Yes sir that's a great idea. Thank you. I'll have to try that.
Thanks for all the fishing tips FISH YANKER. You’re a great fisherman and a great person God bless you and yours! Stay safe could you show in a demonstration on how to setup your crappie setup and demonstrate how to work it please with Christian love from MIMI AND POPPA FROM JACKSON TN. Catch one for us and do a walk around your fishing boat so cool! Later brother.
Thank you Mimi and Poppa. I will see what I can do to get that video together. Hope y'all have a great weekend God bless
What state are you in Yanker? I'm in Missouri and we are only allowed 3 poles. I like your setup. Thanks for the great videos. I love 'em.
Arkansas. We are allowed to use 100 hooks. Thank you. Glad you like the videos
Another great video, good mess
Thank you Clayton
checkin in from New Orleans aka the Big Easy my Brudda Fish 🐟 Yanker
Yes sir thank you Clinton. How's your weather down that way?
@FishYanker in the low 40's my Brudda Fish 🐟 Yanker
@clintonevans4633 yes sir. Them ol crappie should start getting hungry pretty soon.
Yes sir you yanking them fried samich es 😂
😂 yes sir, got to have some of them sandwiches 🥪 😊
mmm mmm. heading out tomorrow to try and get some myself. It's about time for a catch and cook again fish yanker. How about catching some and frying them up down near the water where you fish?
Yeah that would be pretty cool. Not sure if I could handle the temperature at night time after the catch. It usually drops down in the teens or low 20s here lately at night. Hope you get some good ones Eric.
Great video! what was the weather out where your at?
Thank you. Our overnight low was 19°. It was cold this morning when I got up but the Sun warmed things up a little bit.
How deep are you fishing in the winter
I don't hardly ever fish over 3 ft deep because crappie stage around 3 ft if the shad are on top of the water. I'm casting my casting rod about 18 inches deep. My trolling poles are usually two to two and a half feet deep
Does water temp affect the bite at all?
Yes they are cold-blooded fish and their metabolism slows down. They slow down but they still got to eat. So I slow down and take my time the colder the water gets.
All im catching is bass can't figure out how to get crappy 😢
I will catch a bass every once in awhile. But if I am catching several Bass I usually fish a little deeper towards the middle. Then I will find black crappie and if I go deeper I will find the white crappie. Sometimes they're in the same area but most of the time it's in that pattern Bass in the shallow, black crappie in the semi shallow And the white crappie out in the deeper water. But that's in all these places I fish here you may have different structure in your area so you just have to sample it and try. That's what's good about a beetle spin with a Bobby Garland jig on it. You can cast out in the deeper water and just swim it closer to the bottom slowly. Usually pick up some fairly decent size crappie with it. Once I locate where the Crappie are then I focus on that area.
Great episode, keep yanking them 🫱🏼🫲🏿🏆🥂🫡
Thank you. I will stay after them. 😊
