    @DocGorilla Apparently they said it was only good for low-earth orbit operations. Strange that the S-band antenna is marked up "Apollo" then isn't it? Sounds like they're shutting down KSC altogether, with the exception of the Delaware North-run Visitor Center!

    @DocGorilla i doubt they're completely getting rid of it, but there is no need for it now until there is another manned mission, and by the time that happens there will be new technology for MILA.

    They should at least preserve the iconic S-band antenna. After receiving voice during STS-135 on UHF 259.700MHz AM from A. Max Brewer Bridge I'm even more saddened to hear that both STS & MILA will never transmit on this frequency again. Bulldozing the site and dish makes no sense. Sadly I will only remember the Obama administration for all the wrong reasons.
