Falcon9 to Dragon capsule: I want to spend the rest of my life with you Dragon: Um........... I think we should see other vehicles Falcon9: I don't want to live
@rrobertt13 not an expert, but apparently once the flight abort system is activated the Dragon tells the Falcon to shutdown all engines so that the capsule can increase its distance from the the rocket itself. Without engines, and at that speed, the rocket will loose its trajectory and the aerodynamic forces will brat it apart, because its only meant to fly straight up, and without engines it cannot correct. So once it starts going sideways, it just broke.
@rrobertt13 I guess I would have to see that booster land few more times. It was a historic one. Flew four times out of space. Deserved to retire with honor. SpaceX spoiled me a bit much 😅

@Quiet Entropy What gives you that idea? Solid accomplishments, still. It doesn't matter where the money came from. Simply that the notion that "capitalism did this!" is flatly incorrect.
Does anyone know why Boeing was able to say, "duuuuuhhh, we dont need to complete in flight abort, were going to skip that part". They got an extra 2 billion, yet they didnt have to trash a booster to ensure safety.. i have searched and cannot find a reason, aside from having unjust influence over Nasa.. please some one help me understand..
Bring basically employs a ton of people in a bunch of Congressional districts. Boeing pays these people well and richer people tend to donate politically to local campaigns. Some of these campaigns end up putting people in Congress who control the budget allocations for Boeing... It's incredibly unfair and Boeing has said so. They can't believe SpaceX would show up and do a better job for less money and ruin the good thing they had going on. Well I say pound dirt. Spacex has done more for space flight in this millennia then anybody else going back to Apollo. I hope Boeing gets fiscally shafted and forced to start competing again instead of reusing 50 year old launch tech at 150% markup and while getting paid more for doing less. If I was an astronaut, I would not fly Boeing especially after the leaked comments and emails concerning the willful misleading of government agencies that resulted the deaths of hundreds of people on their MAX aircraft.
This is something SpaceX chose to do, not something that has ever been a requirement. Both companies have already done a ton of abort tests of various systems. Elon knows this about test would get a lot of attention, I think that's the real reason SpaceX took the initiative to do this particular test.
@@joshuakuehn it's more than that. all of the congresspeople have investments in defence companies like boeing and lockheed martin. it is not "corruption", it is the way the system works, a system they themselves have control over since they are the ones who make the laws.
SpaceX likes making things go boom. This test was not needed, but they always like hands on and learning from the worst case events. This happened in very high pressure (just after maxq). I can almost guarantee some systems failed but they still survived (if astronauts were onboard). They will get thousands of pages of information, ultimately making future versions more safe.
I could've sworn I heard John's voice a bit breaking up at 20:15, as he confirmed that telemetry is lost from Falcon 9 1st stage. It was a good booster, faithful to the very end. Good bye B1046. _Per Aspera Ad Astra_

That was cool. Love hearing the cheers of excitement at SpaceX HQ. Especially how they count down to Dragon Separation and the explosion. I love the enthusiasm.
@OAT351 The energy there must be awesome.
Congrats on a successful demonstration SpaceX!
So sad I missed this live. History in the making. I love you, SpaceX!

CheapVlog no the fts was not the reason for the explosion, Elon stated that it disintegrated in the post flight press conference. And if fts was the reason for the explosion large chunks wouldn’t survive. Of which we saw.
Amazing. Absolutely Amazing. Been watching space launches since 1968. Every one is absolutely amazing.
Take a moment to appreciate the production of these videos. The presenters really know their stuff and present it in a way anybody can understand. We are living in some exciting times!
Falcon9 to Dragon capsule: I want to spend the rest of my life with you
Dragon: Um........... I think we should see other vehicles
Falcon9: I don't want to live
Dragon: I'm seeing someone else, name's ISS.
Very poetic. Dragon was the one that got away.
We-ve grown used to having the Falcon return home. This felt like a "necessary' sacrifice... Rest In Pieces Falcon9.
I didn't like warching this booster explode. It made me sad
@rrobertt13 I guess I would have to see that booster land few more times. It was a historic one. Flew four times out of space. Deserved to retire with honor. SpaceX spoiled me a bit much 😅
"It's not possible!
No, but it's necessary"
SpaceX: We want to test the rocket before putting astronauts on it

every time i see anything to do with this company it makes me happy.

Yes...the engineering team that actually made this happen deserves a shout out. It's not like Musk did it all.
@@RealityIsTheNow The first thing Musk said at the post flight news conf. was " I'd like to recognize all the hard work and dedication of the Spacex team. So I think Musk knows that.
@@williamgreene4834 Musk does, sure. He's always giving credit where due. But the public? Honestly I get the impression that people think Musk is singlehandedly throwing rockets into orbit like javelins. Its a bizarre hero worship thing...people don't understand how these sorts of organizations work...how a gigantically complicated thing like a space launcher requires a team of hundreds if not thousands of engineers and scientists...
@@RealityIsTheNow Most people don't understand a lot of stuff. It's easy to pretend to be an expert on social media, it's quite another to actually get something to work.
RealityIsTheNow,
I think we should give people more credit. I think people know it takes a “team” of people to make anything happen. It’s the management of all that team, it’s tasks and concepts. Bringing this type of thing to reality takes so much hard work from everyone but to have one person be the face of all that is daunting and stressful. Elon tried hard not to be CEO of Tesla but he fought tooth an nail to make sure Space X is successful. He deserves the praise. If people are free to spend millions to see their favorite artist, even though it takes a “team” to put a concert together, then people can agree that Elon is worth the admiration
Check out the Third Rows video Podcast of Elon. You’ll see him for who he is.

Let's hope we'll never get farther into space than the moon. We need to keep the general human stupidity down here on earth and not spread it throughout space. Destroying THIS planet is more than enough.
@Inigo Arroyo Our planet finally has found a way to get rid of us. It has tried before, but someone has always found a treatment for it. Now the egoism and the overpopulation will kill us off. We do not deserve a second chance. I've lost all faith in the human "kind". We're not the rational being we'd like to be, we're all egoism and basic instincts at the end of the day. And that will kill us.
I love it when SpaceXers cheer like they're at a football match.
Awesome humans.

Congrats for SpaceX and NASA👏👏
These are my favorite hosts
Damn this is already on number 8 trending in Norway. Thank you Elon for making the public interested in space again!
I am a man that watched all of Gemini and Apollo launches. I was board until SpaceX came along. NOW NO LIMITS :) I should mention that in between the Apollo and the space shuttle “ Spacelab’ all the satellites of the interplanetary missions that NASA has done in conjunction with ESO some or all exciting. But for me when man or woman is in the driver seat there’s nothing better... “going where no one has gone before. “ Kudos for Startrek and for Gene Roddenberry

The fact that SpaceX aims to demonstrate the launch escape system by actually DEMONSTRATING it speaks volumes of their attention to detail.
From about 20:20 on, "This isn't flying. This is falling! with style!"
It brought tears to my eyes!!!!! I'm 66 years old.I've seen it all.The U.S.is back. Thank You Elon!!!!!
This isnt the moon race, old man. Elon is moving the whole humanity forward, not just your country. So keep your patriotism where it's needed.
You and me, both. Just nine days short the 34th anniversary, this one's for you, Challenger.
@@TurtlesLV when another country lands a man on the moon it can claim equality with the USA.where the USA leads the rest of the world follows. So go back to your dot on the map
@@charlesanderson2004 Let me remind you the words that were said when said man touched the surface of the moon. "One small step for a man, one giant leap for humankind." . . a man... not an american. A man. So dont bring your skewed patriotism into this. You sure as hell didnt do more in landing a man on the moon as i did. So apart from being born in a different country, there's no difference between us. So dont be a dick, and just enjoy the advances we get to witness. And telling me to go back to my dot? It kinda implies i'm in us atm. Stay in school.
@@TurtlesLV You didn't quote it right. the first thing they said was the eagle has landed. The first thing they did was to plant the American flag. That achievement was for all mankind. It's great to see America back in the "space race"

The “race” is not that national anymore. It’s mostly a race (but also cooperations) between commercial enterprises trying to be the best, first and cheapest.

@@OlCrunch The Falcon 9 and Crew Dragon were both funded by billions in NASA money. Tax money, in other words, just like Apollo. Don't forget that, lol, when you go on your bizarro ideological capitalism rants.

Congratulations SpaceX! 🚀
Does anyone know why Boeing was able to say, "duuuuuhhh, we dont need to complete in flight abort, were going to skip that part". They got an extra 2 billion, yet they didnt have to trash a booster to ensure safety.. i have searched and cannot find a reason, aside from having unjust influence over Nasa.. please some one help me understand..
they did the tests in videogame (simulations)

It’s incredible how they have the parachutes slowly open. So much thought went into this rocket and it’s stages. What a time to be alive.
Agreed, Im so glad that there is now much more consideration into safety and even if something goes wrong with the launch the crew has much better chance of escaping failed launch alive where as before they had basicly none. Not only that I love how they really went and thought about reusing the rockets themselves instead of just having them wasted after every launch. I hope I'll still be alive to see that first mission to Mars with crew onboard, should that indeed happen in next few decades. I would salute such brave individuals, because it would be 1 way ticket
