The only exception is Isiah Thomas because he plays much bigger than he actually is,which is something Newman doesn’t do. But you can’t expect a short guard to defend and score on stupid athletic guards like Wall and Westbrook , hell even curry. And the more players we have coming league that are the heights of Power forwards and centers like giannis Simmons and KD that can play point, or guards 6’5 and up keep coming then there won’t be very many guards shorter than 6’3.

He needs to learn how to play like a traditional point guard (running through offensive plays, setting up guys to get them open looks) I remember seeing a “training” video of him doing combos with his shirt over his face. Idk what his father must be thinking, but this isn’t streetball this is a kid trying to work his way through to the NBA or at least playing professional basketball. He needs to have something new and refreshing, not these unnecessary dribbling while looking down, I understand this is just a camp and he’s more interested than breaking ankles than winning the game, but I’ve watched his games through either highlights or even livestreams. And he doesn’t do much on the defensive end, if he’s lucky he’ll tip the ball from a pass and go on fast break. But I’d seriously take yuki okubo over Julian Newman any day.

Edwin Chavez he’s been training his whole life and literally only has two ways to score, i get he’s short but with the way he dribbles he should be able to get closer to the 3 line instead of either chucking up long ass shots or driving head first into the paint in hopes of a foul. and that’s if he gets lucky some times he’ll drive make it about 3 feet and either cross himself up or completely lose the ball both causing unnecessary turnovers instead of trying to set plays for his teammates.
