But his tiers make sense. As better on offense as Jokic is suppose to be over Giannis. Giannis is avg 31/11/6. Jokic is avg 26/12/9. And Giannis is 1st team all defense and in DPOY convo this year.

@@killakam8738 three more assists is huge. That's potentially 9 more points. Jokic is also much better in the half court, where his strength and gravity poses a much bigger problem for the defense, and that's before you factor in the prodigious playmaking. If he sits at the top of the FT and doesn't move an inch, the defense is still at a disadvantage. Jokic makes up for his defensive speed issues by having his team so ridiculously good offensively that opponents will make mistakes trying to keep up.

Thats how their dynamic as the top 2 works. But right now Giannis' defense is vastly superior but his offense is only slighty inferior if inferior at all right now. So Giannis should be #1.

Only reason Giannis got bounced last year is because he's was injured and only played in 2 games.

Nick STILL can't give Joker his due. He argues that Giannis is putting up a career high in assists this year while at the same time Joker is beating that by 3 on his own graphic. They are putting up the same minutes and, in that time, Joker is putting up more overall points if you assume that every assist is a teammate making a 2. It is crazy how much he hates anything and anyone from a Denver team, no matter their greatness.
Not to mention that Jokic leads the league every season for the last 5 years in passes made and that he is averaging just 4 points less than Giannis while being a pass first player, it's unbelievable.

It’s interesting because as big men, giannis and joker have basically opposite styles/profiles as players. It’s hard to separate them because they both excel at the other players weakness

The media’s turn against Giannis is interesting to watch. It’s not just recency bias either because they decided Jokic was better than him well before the title run last year when they nearly gave him 3 straight MVPs.
Giannis has too much of a hole in half court offense which matters a ton in the playoffs. Also doesn’t help that he choked in several playoffs now which jokic never did. Jokic has one of the very best offensive games in history and ever since finals last year his defensive numbers now look dominant too.

Jokic is about to be the first guy in NBA history to have won either the MVP or Finals MVP in four straight seasons.
Last playoffs:
Jokic - only player to ever lead playoffs in pts, rbds, assts, in an all-time insane championship run. Humbled Lebron like no-one since Dirk in 2011.
Giannis - bounced in round 1 by an 8-seed, visibly terrified and hot potatoing the ball in the clutch.

Jokic has improved his lateral mobility to be an average defender. Plus, he is the best offensive big man of all time. To me its no contest, Giannis is not on Jokic's level
