Pure wool Australian army socks dating from the 1960s, 70s and 80s and how some soldiers used to use them as wristbands.
Using part of an old sock as a wristband was never a permanent thing and most of my improvised wristbands rarely lasted more that a couple of exercises as the cut end would fray badly.
