There is plenty of film around the trash dumps where Grizzlies and Polar bears meet. There is just no match for the pure anger of a Grizzly, they often run off the Polar bears.
I would love to favor the PB, Because I have since I was a little kid, BUT, Several folks have told me, that in the few areas were PB's and Grizzlies cross paths, Polar bear runs away, even though its bigger than a griz, Good points here, stating that PB's size varies greatly. I believe the biggest bear ever was still PB? But if I was forced to bet a million bucks, I would probably bet on the Kodiak, since its bigger than a griz, WOULD LOVE TO BE WRONG THOUGH. Also, the Polar seems more geered towards a specific climate, Maybe bring the K by copter. he would freeze, drown etc..=lose
The larger species of short-faced bears, now extinct, averaged bigger than modern bear species. Many fossils have been found, both in N. and S. America, so paleo-biologists have a pretty good understanding of their anatomy and size. Except, that is, for some leg bones found in Buenos Aires in 2011. They belonged to a specimen of the largest S. American short-faced bear, Arctotherium angustidens, and they were unexpectedly large. Standard comparative estimation put the size and weight of this individual when alive at up to 14-ft tall and 4502-lbs. Scientists decided that must be impossible, so they discounted their calculations down to 11-ft and 3800-lbs. Being a layman, I prefer the original estimates. As big as an Allosaurus. On all fours, it would probably gaze down into the face of a 6-foot man. These species evidently fought one another often, judging from damage frequently found in discovered remains. There was a deep tooth hole in one of the massive bones of the individual mentioned above **which had healed.** It's hard to imagine any modern bear being anything but an easy meal for that individual.
Kodiak bears claws are longer compared to the polar bear but I would definitely pick the polar bear to have a fairly big edge over the Kodiak. Just from Polar bears swimming all the time gives them strength and the endurance that I feel Kodiaks would lack. Also Polar bears fur is a lot thicker and over laying a thick layer of fat, making it just tougher to bite and claw through.
Your size measurements are a bit misleading, you compared the peak kodiak weight with high average polar weight. Male Kodiaks average 480-530kg and at peak times can be 680kg. Polars have a larger size range from 300-800kg for average males and have been recorded as high as 1000kg in the wild. If two big males met, we're looking at a potential 120kg difference. Polar takes this
mmm not really, matters who you ask, the largest recorded bear ever was a Kodiak at 2200, Kodiak tend to be slightly larger overall and much much more aggressive, Polar have a slightly larger bite force but then again who is measuring this, hypothetical tbh haha, both huge , Kodiak tend to be more territorial because of geography, they are just grizzly brown bears on Kodiak island, probably would come down to the more experienced and more well fed bear at the time, both not to be fucked with lol.

The Grizzly or Kodiak is more agressiv!
An Unstoppable Force meets an Immovable Object...... ⚖️
There's no way a bear that swims in freezing water with his bare nuts, is losing a fight against a part time vegan bear.
Wouldn't they be hair covered as well?
😅😅
😛 GOOD 1 D

The kodiak bear would be the winner because it has better endurance/stamina than the polar bear. The polar will over heat.
Please Do American Black Bear VS Grizzly Bear!
black bears are big puppys
Why? I mean its pretty well indisputable that a grizzly would win in the vast majority of cases.
Jaguar. V hyena and Komodo dragon v honey badger
You correctly state the Kodiak as a subspecies, immediately followed by calling it a species, which it isn't.
I bet a kodiak eventually kill a polar bear, and he would also end up dying of severe injuries.

@@negativezero3107 "they are just grizzly brown bears on Kodiak island"
- no, they are not, they are distinct subspecies
@@Dr.Ian-Plect yet they make fertile hybrids... just like certain humans...
@@JarlBarbossa Irrelevant.
Further, there is no definition of a species I'm aware of that doesn't allow subspecific interbreeding.
