    Numbers aside, Warfield was one of the top 10 receivers to play the game. Always hear bout Rice and Moss. All well and good. But what PW did in Miami on a ball-control offense was amazing. 8-9 years career, 20 ypc. Amazing. Along with Cliff Branch and Harold Jackson, one of the greatest deep threats to play the game.

    Larry Ball will be a trivia answer someday. He played for Miami in 1972 and In 1976 he played for winless Tampa Bay.

    Those old Dolphins uniforms look better than the current uniforms. The colors are so nostalgic.

    Man, that hit and flip onto Warfield in that Cleveland game is astounding in just the fact he held onto the ball.

    17:38-that's probably the most enthusiastic score that I recalled seeing from John Riggins. No spiking, no fluff; on the field, "The Diesel" was all about business.

    1:26-despite the lack of their traditional triple-striped sleeves and "TV" numerals, the 49ers uniforms looked good against the sweltering artificial turf at the Orange Bowl. Nice contrast to the Dolphins' unis, too (reminiscent of their later meeting in SB XIX). This is when Miami had established itself as an NFL powerhouse (with Pittsburgh on the rise to take over) and San Francisco going from NFC bridesmaids in the early '70s to irrelevant by mid-decade. SF would have to wait awhile before their time of reign, and Miami would experience it-the hard way.

    well.......No, its because the whole team was better , its hard to beat 17-0, but in 72 their games including playoffs were close. in 73 they dominated point wise, blowouts everywhere, ok Griese being healthy helped, but if you except that a unbeaten Super Bowl champ was more Mature the next year thats what I am saying. ... They would have won a 3rd straight Ring in 74 if not for the Sea of Hands. they added a great running back in benny malone , young receiver in was it nat moore I forget? Steelers were just coming on, although not a Dyanasty yet. Dolphins would have won that playoff game Not a dolphin fan, but I admired their run.

      i was at most of these games. they weren't "close," just because the score differentials seemed close. once those Miami teams took the lead in any game, even by one point, they brought in the 53 prevent defense and shifted into running out the clock mode. that was because in 1973 they fielded the greatest pass defense in football history. No Names still hold both main records: passing TDs allowed in a season (which included both playoff games and SB): 5, and passing yards allowed in a season 1290. people do not understand this team

    MNF against steelers is1974. Chuck Noll made the terrible decision to start gilliam ahead of Bradshaw.

      wrong! i was at this game. bradshaw was intercepted as many times as Jefferson Street Joe, 3. dick anderson was hot. dolphins were hot too because they wanted payback against the Steelers for the excuses they made after losing AFC title game previous year. even Chuck Noll made excuses!!

      They ran them into the abyss ,few teams ran more than those dolphins early dynasty units . Warfield should be the player who warranted more action . He'd have full seasons with less than 40 recs ,too dynamic a player ,a certified Hof wr ,a complete route runner , athletic marvel , hands that dropped no footballs that touched them , arguably goat deep threat in NFL history ,can score from anywhere , 3 recs a game for a transcended player of his clothe was almost criminal,even for that era .

    Csonka and Morris was more dynamic duo than Harris and Bleir on Steelers

    • @haroldmccoy-k7e
      @haroldmccoy-k7e 24 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Respectfully disagree ,perhaps even or slight edge towards dolphins transcended duo , .Franco Harris was far more dynamic than fellow Hof great Czonka " not even remotely close" ,same as Eugene "Mercury Morris was more explosive than workman like Rocky Bleier . Much respect towards all four gentlemen and that incredible Dolphins early 70's dynasty ,could have played and prospered in any era . Mobile efficient QB ,top 5 all time WR , multifaceted 3 man backfield with Hof RB , superb complementary wrs , a defense that could evolve like a transformer robot a genius headcoach and gm . As a Steelers fan ,I've nothing but admiration for the 70'71'72'73'74 ,dolphins .

      @ I respect your opinion. Franco and Csonka were different styles of FBs for sure. Frenchy Fuqua I recall as being akin to Miami’s Jim Kiick as a valuable 3rd back. I respect the 4 rings Steelers accumulated. They reinvented their offence after 1976 and 1977. The Steelers regressed in 1977 at 9-5 and I thought their run was over - I was 100% wrong. The 1978 Steelers unleashed an accurate Bradshaw long distance passing game and Stallworth emerged as a better wr than Swann..the 1978 Steelers were likely the best of Noll’s 4 championship teams.
      The Steelers did benefit from playoff format in 1974. The raiders (12-2) and Miami (11-3) had to play in div round. Of course, that was the incredible sea of hands game which took each team to their limit Oakland prevailed in final seconds - but not sure if they were not emotionally and physically spent beating Miami in “the greatest game ever played” (curt Gowdy), the Steelers (10-4) drew the WC Buffalo Bills ( 9-5). The 1 dimensional OJ based Buffalo offense was the perfect draw for the Steel Curtain.

      absolutely correct. 10 greatest teams of all time: (1) 1973 Dolphins; (2) 1972 Dolphins; (3) 1962 Packers; (4) 1950 Browns; (5) 1968 Colts; (6) 1969 Chiefs; (7) 1971 Cowboys; (8) 1975 Steelers; (9) 1961 Packers; (10) 1960 Eagles; Honorable mention: 1976 Raiders.
