I was just about to post that. Thank you. I've ‘only’ been to 3 Prince concerts but all 3 are in my top of best live performances ever. Many artists can offer you fun, party, good musicians, amazing songs and a showman/woman off the charts.... But only ONE can offer you all that together in each of his acts: PRINCE THE BEST ARTIST WE HAVE EVER HAD and will hardly ever be equalled.
Prince played 27 instruments on his first album. Just let that sink in. 😮 He didn’t just dabble either. He was a serious musician and a monster talent.
That's Cat Glover. She's famous for that Cat scat that knocks everyone out. The thing about Prince that made him stand out wasn't just his talent. It was that he had an incredible knack for finding others who were also talented and radiated his energy.
Thank you for reacting the way everyone should when seeing this massive talent!!!! Unfortunately all those jumps caused him to have hip replacement and got him started on the pain meds😢😢💜💜💜he brought out the best as he was a perfectionist and you can tell.. miss him so much! This was someone that never drank or did drugs and was a vegan.
Prince could play EVERYTHING!! The man was a musical genius! It will forever hurt me to know that we never got to see what else he had coming because it would have been beyond next level !!
props to you for the Nicholas Brothers... Prince was fascinated by performing Artists, he emulated the greats who came before him, recognizing their greatness and making the best stuff his own... pure GENIUS!
Once the dancing stopped when he was older he just became an even more virtuoso musician and band leader. Hard to believe but you just couldn’t stop his talent and charisma. Utterly peerless.
The dancer's name is Cat. She was with him during the Sign o' the Times era (around 1987). I have been listening to this song since it came out but never looked up Sheila's lyrics until now. It is basically a nursey rhyme. Sheila said, "Said the table to the chair, 'You can hardly be aware How I suffer from the heat And from chillblains on my feet If we took a little walk We might have a little talk Pray, let us take the air,' Said the table to the chair Said the chair to the table, 'Now you know we are not able How foolishly you talk When you know we cannot walk.' Said the table with a sigh, 'It can do no harm to try I've as many legs as you Why can't we walk on two?' So they both went slowly down And walked about the town With a cheerful bumpy sound As they toddled round and round And everybody cried As they hastened to their side, 'See the table and the chair Have come to take the air.' But in going down an alley To a castle in the valley They completely lost their way And wandered all the day 'til, to see them safely back They paid a ducky-quack And a beetle and a mouse Who took them to their house When they whispered to each other 'O delightful little brother! What a lovely walk we've taken! Let us dine on beans and bacon!' So the ducky and the little browny mousey and the beetle dined, And danced upon the heads 'til they toddled to their beds. Good God!"
Thank you for reacting to our requests. Prince has so many more fabulous lives- Some of his best ( but not all) = are his true musical jams with the other musicians on stage,.You are a pleasure to watch and experience these vids with. Have a beautiful night!!
Growing up in the Twin Cities, we had the block parties with Prince before the rest of the world knew PRINCE. What a blessing. He is truly missed here.
He was a singer, a performer, dancer, All-around Entertainer, Arranger, producer (he was all the "er's". And then he played at least 27 Instruments. He will Always be One of the GOAT's!🎉❤😊
To see Prince in concert was a sight to BEHOLD!! I was 30 when I first saw him live for the Musicology tour...I came out of my shoes within the first 5 min & NEVER sat down! A time was HAD! SO sad I never had the chance to see him live again. That man was an ENTERTAINER! 💜💜
Nice reaction. I'd recommend the official video for Prince's song America. It was filmed live during a break from filming the Under The Cherry Moon movie. Prince and the band needed oxygen after it was filmed because the venue was so hot. Well worth checking out if you continue on the Prince journey.
He was the most beautiful man I've ever seen..and the reason I listen to everything in my playlists from ACDC to Sade to Maxwell to Metallica to Frankie Beverly and Maze 🎸🎸🎸
This kind of energy and performance would’ve been INSANE to see live. The fact he put this all together and performed like this every concert is incredible. He was so special, I’ve never come across another person who loved and breathed music like he did
Prince played everything. He was tremendously disciplined and demanded the same from his band. He put it all into everything he did, and it was all those crazy high-heeled acrobatics that resulted in the prescriptions that ultimately killed him. Ironically, he was vehemently against recreational drugs and would fire someone in a heartbeat for it. His Paisley Park studio (where he often held late night shows) is about 15 minutes from my place, and it wasn't that unusual to see him riding around on his motorcycle. He's still mourned in Minnesota.
What!!!??? A month ago?? Oh bro you got a long road to travel!! His live videos and awards show PERFORMANCES are AWESOME!!!! Start from the beginning young man and you will be a life long Prince man!!! Lol!!! The GOAT!!! Brother played 27 instruments masterfully! Wrote sang, produced, danced, Prince did it all!!!!! A MUSICIANS GENIUS!!!!!
The energy he brings is unreal! 17 minutes non-stop energy. NO ONE IN THEIR SEAT DURING THAT PERFORMANCE!! Love this man all my life. No one will ever Compare to him. ❤❤❤
You Seriously need to see the entire "sign of the times" concert! I've seen the entire show 100 times if I've seen it once! It is without question the best live show with Broadway choreography you are ever likely to see!
Prince is a musical genius who can shred on the guitar and play every instrument basically. He writes all his music for every instrument and can Ball on the BBall court ( also in heels🤣) He was just an incredible human being with Superhuman Talent .. all condensed into a 5’4 Body . Please watch his Film Purple Rain. It’s about his life story and has the most incredible Soundtrack ever sold . It came out my Sophomore year of HS . We were obsessed and saw the film the night of its release . The Album was already all over the charts . Purple Rain.. run .. don’t walk . ⭐️✨⭐️✨⭐️✨⭐️✨⭐️
Prince could play and do anything. I saw his Piano and Microphone tour in Melbourne, Australia a couple of months before he died. It was mesmerising. He was cheeky, funny and he played with the audience, we were eating out of the palm of his hands. He was up there alone on the stage and his performance was electric. RIP to a man who truly fits legend status. ❤️
This video is sped up but I’m so glad you felt the energy from this cause it’s 🔥🔥🔥! Prince was & is THE TRUTH & I’m so glad you’re seeing it more and more. The best part is you are FAR from done! Keep on enjoying this Purple rabbit hole you’re in! The funkiness doesn’t end! 💜
You need to know that this is from a pseudo concert film that Prince himself directed called Sign O’ The Times. Widely considered one of the greatest ever made.
Every great song and every not so great song that Prince penned was an exercise in creativity. I imagine the simplest of songs and the amazingly complex arrangements all swirling around in his incredible mind. Every artist aspires to be acknowledged and financially compensated but Prince really was driven by the music; he was music.💜
I am so grateful I got to see Prince live many times, including this Sign O the Times concert, which was probably one of the best I've ever seen and experienced.
I was fortunate enough to go to one of his shows with my sister. We had a great time. Prince jumps from high places, splits, and dances in heels. When he first came out, he played all of the instruments, wrote, and produced all of the music on his albums. Before he passed he would hold concerts in his home for only $25. He made it affordable for people to experience his shows. He is truly missed. R.I.P. Prince!🎈⚘️🎶🎤😇🙏🏽💖 I loved your reaction.
Mate, your prince reactions have me emotional, its a joy to behold.my first prince concert was lovesexy 88. It changed me forever.the greatest artist of all time others simply could not compare.keep watching!
Young Bro I I am so enjoying watching you enjoying Prince! He’s amazing isn’t he?? 🥰 And this is just the tip of the iceberg… No… This is not his best live performance! How lucky are you… You have so much prince material to experience and enjoy! You’ve already slipped down the Prince rabbit hole so… Buckle up, honey, It’s gonna be a bumpy ride, but you’ll never regret taking it! ☺️ Hit me up if you have any questions, or you need to know anything about prince. I’m in it for over 45 years and he still amazes me. Blessings 💜
All those splits, jumps, spins and drops Prince did in his younger days took a toll on his body as he got older. This was when he was prescribed pain meds which was eventually the cause of his departure from all of us.
This is from Prince's concert film, "Sign o the Times". And believe it or not, this was only the 2nd song into the performance, they was just warming up! If you want to see Prince and Cat (his dancer) tear up the choreo, I highly recommend you check out the clip "Hot Thang" from the same concert/ movie. 🔥
Have you done his live performance of 'America'? It's from a private show in Paris, I believe. He's going crazy again, like this. Also played drums again. His first few albums, he played every single instrument on them. 💜💜💜
Sheila's verse: … Said the table to the chair You can hardly be aware How I suffer from the heat And the chilblain's on my feet If we took a little walk We might have a little walk … Pray let us take the air Said the table to the chair Said the chair to the table Now you know we are not able How foolishly you talk When you know we cannot walk … Said the table with a sigh It can do no harm to try I've as many legs as you Why can't we walk on two So they both went slowly down And walked about the town … With a cheerful bumpy sound As they toddled round and round And everybody cried As they hastened to their side … See the table and the chair Have come to take the air But in going down an alley To a castle in the valley They completely lost their way And wondered all the day … Till, to see them safely back They paid a ducky-quack And a beetle and a mouse Who took them to their house Then they whispered to each other Oh delightful little brother … What a lovely walk we've taken Let us dine on beans and bacon So the ducky and the little brawny Mousey and the beetle dined And danced upon their heads Till they toddled to their beds … Good God
Great choice and reaction. This was from the Sign of the Times movie - one of the greatest concert films ever, if not THE. The dancer was Cat (Glover). She was on this and the next project (Lovesexy - which also has an incredible concert film). The trumpet is Atlanta (Matt) Bliss. Sax is the incomparable Eric Leeds. This was rare co-write. The longtime keyboardist Dr. (Matt) Fink shared a writing credit. This was also a rare song where the album track (from the Sign O the Times record) was from a live performance. In fact I’m not sure if a studio version exists. Sheila’s rap is nonsense - I think it’s an Edward Lear poem. But she could spit. Check out her single Holly Rock (which Prince wrote and produced) which was featured in the legendary early Hip Hop film Krush Groove.
My best friend took me to see purple rain in the 80’s I am Irish I was transfixed I was 18 years old and I got the album made a tape and went back packing around the Middle East the amount of people trying to steal my tape ! and taking it to play at parties so much fun Prince was pure joy !
Youngblood, we've been telling you since your first review of him that he plays over 20 instruments fluidly, in perfect pitch. He was a musical prodigy. On his, albums he played all instruments and did nearly all vocals. Check his production credits for his albums. The bands were mostly for touring. 😂 Also Sheila had just finished her work and promo on a movie "Krush Groove" that loosely told the story of the founding of Def Jam records and Prince composed a couple songs for the soundstrack that Sheila sang and played on. So, she was in hip-hop mode. Finally, all Black artists back then would've grown up watching and referencing folkx like the Nicholas Brothers, and James Brown as they were essential parts of the Black arts canon. Just fyi.
It warms my heart to see a Gen Z experience the Prince era (check out Morris Day and the Time, another group he developed) I went to a few of his concerts, every one life changing. And you got to meet some fine girls at the concert, definitely a bonus. 💯
I sum up Prince like this, in all my 63 I (only)had the chance to witness Prince live 6 times. So , when we received the terrible news in 2016 that we lost him , I mourned the man and his genius , but I also mourned the fact that I would never see him live in concert again….
Prince player every instrument on most of his albums. This performance was honestly the norm for Prince live through his entire career. And i’ll say, as fellow Gen Z, i’m so happy you’ve discovered prince man. He doesn’t get nearly enough recognition
Prince was known to only sleep 4-5 hrs a night, had so much energy & lived for the music & performing. Easier to see how we Prince fans think he's #1 after watching his amazing work. GOAT! I appreciate you, Jay! And you see why we get mad when people don't know Prince could dance his ass off, lol!! Great Nicolas Brothers reference, too! Love your journey.
Prince's father took him to a James Brown concert when Prince Rogers Nelson was still little. Little Prince aka "Skipper" told his dad that that was what he wanted to do - and he did!
The dancing, the spins, the splits & sliding back up, on & on that's James! 😊 Prince & MJ loved James Brown. They both studied him & worshipped him. JB was inspired to 2 of the worlds best entertainers. I've always loved Prince & I never considered he did drugs...until Chaka Khan was interviewed & said they were close & he had a bad habit. She said she'd know bc she'd had a horrible habit as well. Broke my heart. I was shocked.
One of my favorite performances EVER! And IMHO Cat was the best dancer Prince ever had. You'll never see a performance like this nowadays. And with real instruments!!
So happy you have found him!! Now you know what ended up causing his death; all that dancing and jumping in heels caused hip operations that got him hooked on pain killers, and then off the market pills laced with Fentanyl. I must have been to over 20 concerts, and everyone I brought with me, ended up a fan! And yes, it was JOY! And I always wondered how could the musicians keep up with him dancing and playing. Go and find the Musicology Tour for yourself! You keep enjoying!!
Massive difference between MJ and Prince was MJ would turn up sing and dance. Prince on the other hand would write, play, sing dance and produce the song
Something most people don't know is that Prince originally hired Sheila E on as the musical director for this tour and she took the opportunity to hire herself as the band's drummer.
Prince big venues shows were usually just a warm-up for the longer shows that usually went from 11-12PM to 3-4AM is smaller venues in the same city, with surprise guests and an impredictable setlist. His Royal Badness almost always did these after-shows for his hardcore enthusiats (he didn't like the word "fan"), just like he also did lots of concerts in his Paisley Park studios in Chanhassen.
Great reaction … now subscribed awaiting more Prince reactions 💜 Prince was just peerless, the most complete artist of the modern era. I listen to his music daily … 40 years of pure amazingness! Check out the whole Sign O The Times concert movie, it’s insanely good. Also his Lovesexy concert in Dortmund, Germany in 1988. But don’t stick to the 80’s. His music and live performances were amazing all of his career. He can also spit bars … during the 90’s he really displayed his rapping skills. Then into the 2000’s there wasn’t the dancing, but his musicianship excelled. He was just simply phenomenal 💜
This clip is from the live concert movie of the 'Sign of the Times' tour. The whole movie is like this clip. You need to watch the full movie! It is insanely good!
Break a leg jumping? He played BASKETBALL in those shoes! 😂 This is the Sign O the Times tour. Sheila was his drummer for the tour. James Brown mentored Michael Jackson when the J5 toured with his band.
Prince RIP was a true artist in every sense of the word. You should listen to some of RIP Charlie Murphy's stories about his interactions with Prince from the Dave Chapelle show they are hilarious.
When Prince died I remember an interview with Dave Grohl (Foo Fighters, Nirvana) was asked "Was Prince a better guitar player than you?" He answered "Are you kidding? Prince was a better drummer than I am!"
My young UK brotha. 1. He was only 5'2", thus the heels, but core and leg strength beyond compare as you witnessed. 2. He could play almost anything. First album written, preformed and mixed by him before 18yrs old. 3. Do a deep dive into James Brown's recordings/live performances and everything will come into view.
Every concert of Prince is like that! Prince was a genius!
I was just about to post that. Thank you.
I've ‘only’ been to 3 Prince concerts but all 3 are in my top of best live performances ever. Many artists can offer you fun, party, good musicians, amazing songs and a showman/woman off the charts.... EVERY. SINGLE. TIME... he is onstage! 💜😍🥰
👁️ agree 💜👍💜
And Prince is missed 😢
💜 he was a package of energy and we have taken the energy to our home 🥰 He was so wonderful and awesome ❣️💜
He did more in this clip than most artists do their whole career.
Prince played 27 instruments on his first album. Just let that sink in. 😮 He didn’t just dabble either. He was a serious musician and a monster talent.
RIP Cat, she was so brilliant, she and Prince burned up that stage! I hope they are dancing tonight in heaven...💜💜
🕊🕊🕊
That's Cat Glover. She's famous for that
Cat scat that knocks everyone out.
I could watch Prince all damn day!!
Prince was a musical genius that played MULTIPLE instruments. There will never be another like him ❤
props to you for the Nicholas Brothers...
He was born to entertain, he played 27 instruments he had music flowing through his whole body.
Unfortunately, the pain resulting from his doing all those acrobatic moves in heels, would lead to serious problems in his future
The dancer's name is Cat. She was with him during the Sign o' the Times era (around 1987).
I have been listening to this song since it came out but never looked up Sheila's lyrics until now. It is basically a nursey rhyme. Sheila said,
"Said the table to the chair,
'You can hardly be aware
How I suffer from the heat
And from chillblains on my feet
If we took a little walk
We might have a little talk
Pray, let us take the air,'
Said the table to the chair
Said the chair to the table,
'Now you know we are not able
How foolishly you talk
When you know we cannot walk.'
Said the table with a sigh,
'It can do no harm to try
I've as many legs as you
Why can't we walk on two?'
So they both went slowly down
And walked about the town
With a cheerful bumpy sound
As they toddled round and round
And everybody cried
As they hastened to their side,
'See the table and the chair
Have come to take the air.'
But in going down an alley
To a castle in the valley
They completely lost their way
And wandered all the day
'til, to see them safely back
They paid a ducky-quack
And a beetle and a mouse
Who took them to their house
When they whispered to each other
'O delightful little brother!
What a lovely walk we've taken!
Let us dine on beans and bacon!'
So the ducky and the little browny mousey and the beetle dined,
And danced upon the heads
'til they toddled to their beds.
Good God!"

@@TheKatdawg65 , I see! Nice. Thanks.
She also made a brief appearance in the movie Graffiti Bridge and is still with him for Lovesexy era.
No he's got more..I'm so glad I got to see him several times..RIP All my Purple life

Sheila always could sing and she could spit too! She has put her own records out or her own CDs out! That’s how old I am I still say records!
LOVE BIZARRE STILL GOES HARD!!! 😊
Remember that Prince wrote I think at least her first two albums
RIP his dancer and background singer Cat ❤️🔥

It was a very Nice performance...
Yesssssssssirrrrrr..
Love this performance and many others as I dance around my living room lol CONFUSION! 💥 🎶
I was lucky enough to see Prince in concert twice Wembley Arena in 1990 and at the O2 in 2007 two of the best nights of my life
He was the most beautiful man I've ever seen..and the reason I listen to everything in my playlists from ACDC to Sade to Maxwell to Metallica to Frankie Beverly and Maze 🎸🎸🎸

If you don't like Prince, you're dead. RIP Purple Prince of Funk.
If this song came out tomorrow, STRAIGHT to #1 on all the charts.
As a pure Gen-Xer we weren’t ready, this was too hard.
Fuq I loved this man.
Thank you for sharing this!I had forgotten just how dynamite this guy was.
If you haven’t yet, check out Sheila E’s The Glamorous Life video from her 1st album. It was a monster hit and still a fan favorite.

Scandalous by Prince, this guy was doing ballet.
He had the whole band practice in ballet.

He's a musical genius!!! He was a born entertainer!
Thanks for another great (and funny) reaction to Prince.
My best friend took me to see purple rain in the 80’s I am Irish I was transfixed I was 18 years old and I got the album made a tape and went back packing around the Middle East the amount of people trying to steal my tape ! and taking it to play at parties so much fun Prince was pure joy !
Prince could play EVERY instrument .. he was a true virtuoso
💜luv Prince. Luv your reactions 💜
ABSOLUTE GENIUS
Massive difference between MJ and Prince was MJ would turn up sing and dance. Prince on the other hand would write, play, sing dance and produce the song
Housequake...same concert (even better moves/acrobatics, etc) 🔥
Something most people don't know is that Prince originally hired Sheila E on as the musical director for this tour and she took the opportunity to hire herself as the band's drummer.
This was a typical live Prince performance. Paid to see him perform 8 times. Absolutely zero dísappointments❤❤❤
💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜 I miss him so much!! You really should treat yourself to the movie SIGN O’THE TIMES. This footage is from that film. R.I.P. PRINCE ✝️
Bro I used to wear this movie out.... I was amazed when it dropped...watch the movie in its entirety
And he did it all in high heels!
Prince's energy on stage is unbelievable. Look at this 11:45
Great reaction … now subscribed awaiting more Prince reactions 💜 Prince was just peerless, the most complete artist of the modern era.
Love love love love love ❤️
❤❤❤❤
Love your videos. I’m so sick of people these days just saying “that was before my time”, because they really don’t know what they’re missing.
This clip is from the live concert movie of the 'Sign of the Times' tour. The whole movie is like this clip. You need to watch the full movie! It is insanely good!
Break a leg jumping?
He played BASKETBALL in those shoes! 😂
This is the Sign O the Times tour. Sheila was his drummer for the tour.
James Brown mentored Michael Jackson when the J5 toured with his band.
Elvis and Prince are the BOMB
He played twenty seven instruments and couldn’t read or write music. Music flowed from his soul. He was music and we will never see another like him.
Prince can play 26 instruments fluently. I tour with him for 3 years and he was my friend
Prince RIP was a true artist in every sense of the word. You should listen to some of RIP Charlie Murphy's stories about his interactions with Prince from the Dave Chapelle show they are hilarious.
Greatest of all time.
The only man in high heels who could steal your girl.... ❤
Prince hit the Rockets at the end
PRINCE WAS MUSIC PERSONIFIED! 🎉
Prince could play 27 instruments. You need to watch the whole concert movie that his is from. This whole. O is has this same energy
When Prince died I remember an interview with Dave Grohl (Foo Fighters, Nirvana) was asked "Was Prince a better guitar player than you?"
He answered "Are you kidding? Prince was a better drummer than I am!"
I loved MJ but Prince was my favorite entertainer. He was an absolute musical genius. You have to hear him on a solo guitar performance.
I don't know if you've seen the piano medley from Prince's Luvsexy tour, but it's worth checking out.
