    Thank you all so much for your help with this! It's not a nice thing having a big bill right before Christmas and to have you all help out does mean a lot! I hope the videos I have shared will help you out too particularly if you are in the same situation as myself 👍

    How much was it all in? Cant find a price fully fitted only parts prices

      I paid £996 for a new genuine clutch including labour etc. Its a full day's work. This did not include the flywheel though as this was not worn but if you do the lot it's more like £1300 so a big bill for sure 😔

    A competent garage should change a clutch in 4 hours. Maybe 5 hours with a few cups of tea and a sh1t.

      I did contact a lot of garages, around 7, and none of them quoted me less than 6-7 hours to complete the work. This is just from my personal experience with this.

    Also if your flywheel was fine, and your clutch was slipping early. It strongly indicates your springs went bad and not the plates themselves. At red lights do you put it in neutral or do you depress of the clutch?

    • @SamAustin
      @SamAustin  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Car goes into neutral. I rarely sit on the clutch at the lights 👍

    Hi mate, what was wrong with your clutch?

    • @SamAustin
      @SamAustin  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It was Slipping at high revs. 3rd gear and above 😬

      @@SamAustin I think i have the same issue I was driving with my friend, and I put down the foot off the line to 4K revs and went into second when though second and with into 3ed and my car was hitting red line struggle away but it didn’t got anywhere.

    The pedal feel must be fairly light still ??

      @SamAustin  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! :-) I think because it is brand new its just a bit different to get used so ill know for sure as the miles rack up. Certainly no complaints so far 👍

    Good move Sam 👍 enjoy your road trip to Scotland 😎 out of interest, do you know when VW started fitting the better clutch?

    • @SamAustin
      @SamAustin  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I am not too sure actually. All they said is that it was recently so potentially this year? I imagine over time all parts eventually get superseded and technology evolves and problems get addressed 👍

      @@SamAustin my car had a replacement VW clutch in 2019 from VW. It's done 25k miles or so now in my ownership with no issues since, I'm also running a light tune from a JB1. I've heard they've been fitting these superceded clutch a few years now but have no proof. I plan on replacing it with an uprated RTS when the time comes but as things stand I'm thinking if ain't broke don't fix it!

    I've just had a milltek non res cat back fitted to my golf gti mk7.5. Really good quality exhaust, sounds amazing and I've saved a lot of extra weight! Glad you got your clutch sorted.

    • @SamAustin
      @SamAustin  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Congrats on your new exhaust mate. Stock exhausts do tend to be quite heavy these days aswell so you will likely notice the difference 👍

    Milton Keynes! Absolute nightmare. Had to pick something up from the Apple store. Came out of car park and ended up turning in to a one way road! Only realised when I noticed a bloody van coming towards me! Suffice to say I swung her round like bloody Senna!

    Speaking of autohold, because of some bizarre new regulation, VWOA removed it from all cars... Other manufacturers still use it which is bizarre. But all the mk8 golfs in America have a dead button.

    • @SamAustin
      @SamAustin  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Car has gone back now! It was a fun nippy car but it made me realise how special my Golf R is even more. I'd say the fabia would be a great daily for those not wanting too much from there car. It does the basics very well 🙂
