I love this darling pattern. I added two chain stitches at the beginning and it came out a little bigger. Instead of 7 I did 9 in first chain. Better size. Thank you for your instructions. They are so cute.
If anyone wants to know, i think this is the right way to go! all I did was add to the middle stitches, and kept the edges the same. if she said 2 sc then 1 hdc, that's exactly what I did. but if she said do 8 sc across to get to the other side of the mug, id increase it to whatever number I had then left the last two/three stitches to do as she instructed. ALSO, since this is larger, id suggest doing several more chain stitches when creating the handle. she said 13 i think, I had to do almost double to get the look I wanted. and when adding the thickness to the handle, I doubled what she said as well. When weaving my ends, I pulled the edges of the handle into the cup so it fit more flesh, I think it looks more put together. Its also worth mentioning I have pretty tight tention so that could change things, but I ended up with an adorable coaster that will fit all coffee mugs!
I made a ton of these that I leave on the desk of my co-workers and receptionists at my doctor's offices. My family and friends love them as well, especially my fellow coffee drinkers!!! Great stash buster project.
I didn't have the coffee colour so I used complimentary colours to make it look like the inside colour of the mugs. Best tutorial for this pattern. Thank you!
Thank you so much for making this so easy to follow along with and this was helped by you explaining each and every step and how to do it, not just assuming that we knew by just saying what the stitch was called, so I appreciate that a lot! I'm quite new to crochet as far as following along with a pattern and this was the first one that I've watched where I actually understood what you were doing the whole way through, yay! :) I've watched some others and found myself getting lost a few times but the further along this got and the more I was understanding I thought to myself, 'I think I can do this, I'm understanding everything she's doing'! So thank you so much!
LOVE this!! My very first one actually looks like what it is suppose to!! I've only been crocheting for a week! This video help alot! I didn't get lost at all! Thank you! Ive watched 3 times and made 3 with different colors! 10/10
I worked on these today and I changed the pattern up just a bit. They are gifts for the people in my husbands office and I added and deleted to them to make them look like that "odd collection" of office coffee cups. They are adorable... and I wish I could post a picture. Thank you! Great idea and quick and easy! (As I cannot see my stitches all the time because of bad eyes and have a hard time reading a pattern, I love the fact that you have this you tube pattern available and you did a great job explaining the pattern!)
Happy July 4, 2024! I spent the entire afternoon teaching myself how to make these really cute coasters! I’ve had a printed pattern for years but this video is so stress free (even though I stopped and started a gazillion times) but I finally got it. I’m far from a seasoned in crochet and had to stop and write down everything other than a single crochet and slip stitches. I love my first coaster. I used cotton yarn. Thank you so much for leaving in your “having to think where you were!” I can so relate!
LOved this pattern. It was simple and easy to follow. I did change one thing for myself. When I did the handle, I actually went back down the side of it using slip stiches. For me it made the handle stronger. Thank you much for this. Kat
Great Video! I have had this pattern for years even though I have not learned crochet. I recently taught myself some basics and so happy to find an instruction for the same pattern! They are so cute! Thank You so much for making this look so easy!
I really loved this pattern. It was easy to learn, and such a cute project. My mom drinks coffee left and right. So a couple of these, inside a photo frame will look amazing hanging somewhere in her kitchen!! 😍😍😍
These are so cute! Gonna make several sets of 4 for a friend of mine to take to her family reunion. Each year they take things to auction off to pay for their camp sit fee. (4 days). She says homemade items sell really well. And a set of simple coasters last year brought $20.00. That's Amazing. Can you imagine what these adorable things will bring?? Thank you very much for your totural. It was very clear. Very nice to watch. Keep up the great work!! 💖💖
OMG these are so cute!! Easy to make and quick to make also...it's summer time and my iced coffee cup keeps getting wet from condensation do these are perfect for me and my family! and if they happen to get ruined, it's easy enough to make more..Thank you
OMG, I'm going to make these and put them inside my ' Hello cards' I send out in the mail, this pandemic has made it so hard to visit. Thanks so much, love your channel!!
This is really cute, the size you did is a little too small. I chained 9, did an extra increase row. Those were the only things I changed and it made the coaster a really nice size to fit coffee cups better. Thank you for the tutorial.
Kitty's Kreations Boutique thank you for replying. I got to thinking, there was one more change, for the cup handle, I chained 10. And put about 14-15 half double crochets for the handle. I have had so many people ask me for these. 😁 Thanks again!
Hi, could you put a picture of the coaster you made with the 9 stitches please in Ravelry? I like the 9, I also need them wider at bottom. Thanks. Noticed you don't reply much here. OK
Are you in Ravelry, the FREE website for crocheters & knitters? They have where you can put your projects right in your own page under projects. Please let me know, I like what you did with making this coaster bigger.
I like this pattern it worked out better then this other pattern I tired and it didn't look like a coffee cup, lol. So I was glad to find this video. I doubled the width to use as a dishcloth and it turned out nice. However I did have trouble with the handle not sure why i have this big knot area? Lol I plan on making more of these in different colors for Christmas presents. Thank you for the video! Yes this is the best tutorial for a coffee cup pattern!
I am making one in sc as you did here & a hdc, I will them bigger, 11 stitches & some 13 stitches for warm plates, but mostly for drying drying things that do not go in dishwasher. I do not have glasses, we use mugs & some decorative plastic cups & bottoms a well rounded on bottom.
I am so so AMAZED by your work!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think I did mine differently by a little LOVE YOUR TUTORIAL!!!!! (and all your other ones! Thank you for sharing!!!
This is really neat! Any suggestions for Left Handers how to get the handles to the "Right side" of the cup. I've made 4 using cotton yarn....it works up wonderful too!
Have you tried after crocheting around the cup, slip stitch across the top of the cup a second time? Would that get you to the desired side of the cup to place the handle? Just wondering, you know? =D
I just found your video & really like it. Especially when you said to go thru the top stitches to make look cleaner work, this says you like the work nicely made. hanks for sharing.
These are so cute , I modified it a bit more.... for the handle before doing the hdc I made 1 sc then 16 hdc then 1 sc. It made the handle stick out a bit more this way. really simple.... THANK YOU FOR POSTING!!!!!
Nice tutorial! My cup turned out really cute (I used a sage green for the mug, so calming), but it turned out really small for some reason? My husband wants to take it to the office anyway lol.
Thanks so much! Any issues with absorbency using acrylic? Or hot mugs damaging the yarn? I made this with cotton yarn and size G hook, and that was a little rough.
I personally haven't used them, i made them to give as a gift. I think the absorbency will be fine, and i don't think anything you put on there, will be so hot that it will damage them. I personally think you will be fine with acrylic yarn
I've been busy making hot pads in the shape of bloomers with a frill at the lower part of the legs, then a chicken hot pad plus dishcloths to match with this lovely cup coaster. On each bloomer I've crocheted little appliques which I've attached. What a cute little gift for special friends.
Thank you for this video!! I found the pattern and had some trouble with it. I'm a little new to crochet. But this video helped SO much! I'm going to make these as a gift for a friend. :)
I want to make this cute pattern, but I'm not clear on how you did the handle. Can you explain how you hdc 13 when you only did 8 chains? My handle looks nothing like yours. I assume you had to have been putting more than one hdc into a particular stitch, but your video doesn't clarify. Appreciate your response so I can get this finished. Thanks!
Thanks for replying. I watched this video again and figured out how you did it. It's the short 3-4 seconds where you show going underneath the entire 8-stitch chain as opposed to going into a particular stitch. It's just really not clear, especially for a newbie like myself.....i dunno, maybe it was just late at night, but I think it would help to clarify further on that step for viewers. :)
LOVE LOVE LOVE this coffee cup coaster, too cute. Thank you for sharing this pattern. My only advise is slow down a bit when making your videos, that might help you from loosing your place.
I love this project and you made it so easy to follow. I can't say how many I will make but I have no doubt it will be many. Great little gifts for family and friends. Thank you!!!! Oh I just had a thought...Christmas coffee cup coasters in my future.
This Canadian gal has a suggestion which works well. When doing the sc all around the cup put 2sc in each corner as it gives it more of a square look vice round. Then when doing the sl st to start the handle I don't ch 1 as I start the sl st right away going down 3 stitches. Oh plus I use 100% cotton yarn to absorb any coffee, tea or liquid spills.....
Hello Just discovered your channel and it well explained and easy to learn how to crochet I would like to ask you if you can make a tutorial of a beanie for the marshmallow cup. Thank you and have a blessed day
I can't tell u enough but thank u so much for this pattern I made 100 of them already for my daughter's bridle shower ...also wanted to ask do u have a tea pot tutorial? if u do please post as I would love to make them for center pieces thanks again 😃
hi, Loved the little cup coaster, hank u. U mentioned u would lie to some some ideas to make. How about making crochet of different fruits as a coaster. Please, thank you. looking forward to it. Pleaase let me know when u can hopefully soon. Many thanks for your lovely works.
@@Kittyskreationsboutique Hi Kitty, If may I request to make sizes bigger than the cup that you made previously., if possible bigger than the bottom of the glass cause my glasses are like 31/2 inches wide, and to see a little bit of design of the coasters with the glass on of it coasters will probably at least 5inches for fruits and tulip coasters. I hope I am not asking too much of your time. I am checking everyday if you had left me a message so I wont miss the fist ones which ever yu decide to make first. So excited and really eager to see and start crocheting all of it too with your guidance of course. Many many thanks for this. Good day to you from Tara, from New Zealand.
I just crocheted this. So cute! I just found you on TH-cam. I am a new crocheter and absolutely love your video. I’m a new subscriber to your channel. Thanks so much.
I'm struggling with the coffee on both corners, my stitches don't look even, any suggestions? Overall, my cup turned out great using 9 stitches, and 12 on the handle with 15 hdc. Love this so much my kitchen is coffee themed. Thank you!
Excellent tutorial for a very easy project !! I saw the video and I absolutely had to try it out. This is a very cute project !! Thank you for sharing !!!
I actually have one for a Minnie/Mickey. Just search my videos and it will Ben there or you can go to my website. I have the pattern and video there as well. Thanks for watching Kat
I love this, I'm going to try and see if I can make one of these cute coffee mug coasters since I and my husband both are big coffee drinkers, I think these would be lovely 😍❤️
Where would you start making it bigger, I think mine came out a little too small for some of my coffee cups. I just had my first order and want to make it a little bigger than what it came out to be.
This was real cute & easy, but one thing, I no what you ment but for someone that is just learning to crochet I felt you u should have said sc inthe second st then in the remaining 4 st. Cause I thought at first you ment put 4 sc in the second st. It just might be me but just wanted to point that out just in case I wasn't alone. LOL. If so I will just blame it on old age. LOL. I am a new subscriber so cant wait to see your other work. God Bless & have a good evening.
Lori Jones i would use a chunky yarn and larger hook and the amount of stitches should stay the same, but i will try to figure it out today for you 😊 Thank you for watching
Made this... Thank you. Went really fast and easy but I had one problem.... Got all the way through and remember I was left handed and my handle is on the left side and not the right side.... How can I modify this to make it left hand friendly?.... With a right side handle ....
+Christina Markley I'm not sure, but i'm thinking if you single crochet around to the right side of mug and make handle there. Your mug just might be a little thicker : ) Let me know if this works
Going to make a few and put them together on a ribbon or string so you can hang them in the kitchen. My cousin is a coffee drinker and I will give them to her for her birthday.
Thank you, they are so cute. I made mine from cotton yarn, they absorb the moisture a lot better.
Thank you
I love this darling pattern. I added two chain stitches at the beginning and it came out a little bigger. Instead of 7 I did 9 in first chain. Better size. Thank you for your instructions. They are so cute.

I assume you had to have been putting more than one hdc into a particular stitch, but your video doesn't clarify. Appreciate your response so I can get this finished. Thanks!
odessab
you do the HDC's in the chain 8 space. Hope this helps

@@cheekietara This will keep me busy for a while. LOL! I will try to work on this soon, but it might be a couple weeks or so. : )
@@Kittyskreationsboutique no worries Kitty. Thank you for doing this.

I love this. Thanks for the pattern. I think I'm going to make some.
Edith Canole you are very welcome. Thank you for watching 😜
I'm struggling with the coffee on both corners, my stitches don't look even, any suggestions? Overall, my cup turned out great using 9 stitches, and 12 on the handle with 15 hdc. Love this so much my kitchen is coffee themed. Thank you!
Sometimes putting 2 or 3 stitches in the corner will make it more of a corner. Hope this helps.
Oh! Yes it did. Thank you so much!
Excellent tutorial for a very easy project !! I saw the video and I absolutely had to try it out. This is a very cute project !! Thank you for sharing !!!

I love this, I'm going to try and see if I can make one of these cute coffee mug coasters since I and my husband both are big coffee drinkers, I think these would be lovely 😍❤️
Have fun!
Hi, Love the video. Can you use cotton?
Swangels3 thank you 😊
Yes, cotton can be used 👍🏻
Woww .. So cute and simple.. Looked so difficult when I saw it but u are a good teacher ✌
Thanks so much
Where would you start making it bigger, I think mine came out a little too small for some of my coffee cups. I just had my first order and want to make it a little bigger than what it came out to be.
You can start with chaining more at the start
How many would you chain ? 8 or 10? I want it kind of medium size
I would chain 11. You want to have an even number in the rows.
I think I will chain 11 and see how it comes out
super cute. I modified mine and made it a little bigger, just as cute. thank you for sharing
coacoa43 you are very welcome
Thank you for watching 😊
coacoa43 hey how did u make it bigger
What did you do to modify ?
so glad you did this!! yours worked out so much better!!!
Aww
I love it. going to make these as sets to give as office gifts.
Awesome! Thank you for watching
Hello - when you do the 5 rows of single crochets before you do the coffee colour, do you chain 1 and turn at the end of each row or just turn?
Yes, chain 1, turn. Hope this helps ad thanks for watching : )
que cosas tan hermosas a crochet esas manitos con tanta destreza ,las felicito chicas ,
Gracias : )
Just making sure, these are coasters, not covers. Is that correct? Can't wait to try them!
Dana Benedetti coasters. Correct 👍🏻
Thanks for watching ❤️
They are so cute... Gotta try these
Thank you
This was real cute & easy, but one thing, I no what you ment but for someone that is just learning to crochet I felt you u should have said sc inthe second st then in the remaining 4 st. Cause I thought at first you ment put 4 sc in the second st. It just might be me but just wanted to point that out just in case I wasn't alone. LOL. If so I will just blame it on old age. LOL. I am a new subscriber so cant wait to see your other work. God Bless & have a good evening.
Thank you for the suggestion. I try to make my videos clear so this is a big help 😁
Thank you for watching and your support 💕

You done good, lol! I'm going to do your tutorial with the change. ❤
Thank you 😊
These are quick and fun to make, thank you for the tutorial
You are very welcome. Happy crocheting 🧶
Can this be made larger to use as a hotpad? if so, could you possibly help me out with the numbers and such?
Lori Jones i would use a chunky yarn and larger hook and the amount of stitches should stay the same, but i will try to figure it out today for you 😊
Thank you for watching
Lori Jones Ok so i just worked this up as a hot pad. I used Bernat Blanket yarn & a size M hook 9.0. It measures approx 6-1/2 x 8. Have fun 😊
The same amount of stitches as per the video. You can use cotton yarn and just double it up : )
To make the item bigger, yes the extra rows can definitely help
I added 2 chain in the beginning and it came out bigger so just add to the very first chain and follow the same.
Made this... Thank you. Went really fast and easy but I had one problem.... Got all the way through and remember I was left handed and my handle is on the left side and not the right side.... How can I modify this to make it left hand friendly?.... With a right side handle ....
+Christina Markley
I'm not sure, but i'm thinking if you single crochet around to the right side of mug and make handle there. Your mug just might be a little thicker : )
Let me know if this works
This is so cute! Thanks for sharing!❤
You are very welcome. Glad you enjoyed it ❤️
Wow these are great!!! I'm going to make a few for my sissy that just moved!!! Tfs this easy coffee thingys lol
Aw Thank you
Thanks for the beautiful pattern
Going to make a few and put them together on a ribbon or string so you can hang them in the kitchen. My cousin is a coffee drinker and I will give them to her for her birthday.
Nancy Oleksy what a great idea ❤️

@Kitty's Kreations Boutique hi, i wanted to ask. Sorry im a newbie. For the 5 rose. Is it we gonna do 2 sc at the the first loop in each corner?
Yes, on row 5, you do 2 sc n the first and last stitch. Thank you for watching!

You are very welcome : )
It's a very cute mug. I will make one for sure.
Thank you : )
Can I make it larger by adding two more chains. Also do I have to increase the stitches for the handle ?
Yes you can, as long as you keep the height the same, you won't have to make the handle longer. Thanks for watching!
Cool beans.
