    This was one of the best tutorials ive ever seen for any kind of coaster! You explain what youre doing AND include written instructions along the way, letting us know how many stitches we should have total per row. I ❤ this pattern! My momma & i love love love to drink hot tea, so i will make some for us to use.
    I have found gift tags that look like tea bags at thrift stores (pack of 15-20 for around $2) or you can create your own template or print out some on thin cardstoc, too.
    And i like your idea for packaging! My friend & i are starting a little craft business, so we can use that packaging idea for several of our items.
    Thank you, so much for sharing this tutorial with us!!!❤❤❤

    So fun! I love this. I crocheted along with the video and finished my first coaster! It was like being in a virtual craft circle! 💜
    I'm thinking of using white muslin for the tag, as well, so it won't get ruined by spills, and maybe they can be washed??
    It would be fun to stitch something on the tag- a fortune or a flower, maybe...
    Thank you so much, can't wait to finish a set! 🙏💜

    Cute coaster. You did some things that drove the 25+ year crocheter in me crazy but I guess whatever works for you. I would suggest using a piece of cut muslin fabric for your tag. The paper is going to get ruined. I would also suggest embroidery floss or bakers twine instead of jute twine. You could then sew it through your crochet stitches and it won’t pull through. Super cute idea and good tutorial. Thank you.

      Hey there! I'm using Lily Sugar n Cream cotton yarn in this tutorial. I believe the yarn is a size 4 medium yarn and the hook I'm using is a 4.5-5 mm hook, but I recommend using whatever is recommended on the package of yarn you choose. Cotton is best for this in case there are stains from coffee or tea, so you can wash them. Hopefully this helps. Thank you for your support and happy crocheting!!

      @thenorthstitch  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi there! Thank you. As far as the crochet hook size, I'm not sure what I used in the video, since my clay handle covers the size. But I normally go with a half size or 1 size down from what the package recommends (which I think is a 5 mm for this yarn in particular). The smaller the hook, the tighter the stitch 👍

    • @thenorthstitch
      @thenorthstitch  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey there! It depends on the yarn you use. Never hurts to follow the recommended size on the package of yarn. I think I used a 4.5mm hook for a typical 4 M size cotton yarn. 🧶

    • @thenorthstitch
      @thenorthstitch  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      A 4.5 or 5 mm crochet hook should suffice. Acrylic yarn is fine. Type of yarn is just for personal preference. Cotton is easier to wash, since it's a coaster, than acrylic would be. But you can use acrylic if that's the only yarn you have.

    • @thenorthstitch

      If you wanted to, but I would add more rows, since thread is much thinner than yarn. It won't be the size or the right pattern to make a coaster.

    This is cute, and I like the tea bag addition. *But* you really should credit the designer who came up with the base you're using for it.
    Repeat Crafter Me designed this in 20015, and Kitty's Creations Boutique did the variation you're using 7 years ago in a TH-cam video.

    • @thenorthstitch
      @thenorthstitch  ปีที่แล้ว

      Because this is my version of making a mug shaped coaster, there is no designer that needs to be given credit. I understand the point you're making, but in the crochet community, it is only copyright infringing if a designer claims someone else's design as their own. Not only is that not the case here, but even if it were, it is simply a tutorial and anyone can explain the same pattern differently/better quality. I'm well versed on copyright in the crochet community and even encourage my followers to sell these products they make from these patterns themselves. That's the beautiful thing about this craft.
      I wonder who owns the granny square 🤔 lots of videos on that pattern...
      Have a great day 😊

    • @thenorthstitch
      @thenorthstitch  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      To clarify, if this were someone else's design, I would recognize them. It's just simply not. It's my idea for this version. I'm not denying there are similar patterns out there. My teaching and my variation is mine. Yes, there are great, fellow crochet designers and I love their work making similar products. In fact, in some of my other videos, I most certainly have given credit to designers when I use their patterns and ideas. Like the daisy flower here: th-cam.com/video/4vVwfdmbc9Y/w-d-xo.html
      or in the description box of this video for the sweater: th-cam.com/video/Ldj_YBH07io/w-d-xo.html
      Because you're right, it is common courtesy.
      I also promote the crocheters on Instagram when they send me their designs. It's part of my niche.
      I appreciate your concern, but I promise there is nothing mischievous going on here 😁
