The concept of a pocket game intrigues me. I'll take board game rulebooks with me to my kiddos' sports practices, but would be neat to take a pocket game that can be played on the go. It seems like the mechanics are based on games similar to my tastes, but I haven't tried a pocket civ game before. Thanks for covering the game, Kim!

The idea that a civ/city builder can be done in a 18 card wallet game is a little mind blowing. Button Shy has a ton games that pack a lot more than expected in that little folder. The art on Ancient realm looks pretty good too. I often find the smaller more budget games sacrifice on aesthetics, this one looks pretty good.

I've played a couple Button Shy games and am always impressed at how much they fit into such a tiny package. I've seen games where you cover up parts of cards to make patterns, but I like this idea of needing to manage what to cover up to get resources with not wanting to cover columns that score. Looks like a fun puzzle!

The way to store the resources reminded my a lot of the two player version from Settlers of Catan. But I'm glad that you have the other side as well!
The most interesting part for me are the special effects on the backside of the cards. That puzzle of how to use them before you need to draw from the pile sounds great in my ears!

Love Civ games since the original Francis Tresham design, the computer games since the original DOS Sid Meier design. Also, love most Aramini solo games and this one blows my mind! It combines everything I admire about Civ and solo into one mini package that seems to manage to keep things interesting without sacrificing variability and replayability. Very keen to try it out. If I don’t win it, I will buy it for sure. Thank you Kimberly for another comprehensive presentation!

Civ games have always seemed so daunting to me, but one like this could really provide that intro to the genre that I need. Thanks for the opportunity!

It looks intriguing indeed how far 18 cards can give you the Civ feeling.

There is a few things I love about this game. I appreciate the multiplie use cards, the compact civilation builder and how button shy games travel. (Not just across the country but they are in my daily bag) Thank you so much for the opportunity to win.

I've never tried a pocket game, and I'm with you... I wouldn't think there could be much of a game using so few cards, let alone a Civ game... I am interested in the ancient era, so I am intrigued by a solo game of this size :)

I love games that are big in a little package, and this one has a great merchanism for keeping the card count low. Ingenious ideas in this one. I think a larger full scale game could be done using it.

I really like these pocket games by Button Shy Games, and I love your reviews of them. After your review of Wildtails, I went out and bought that one almost immediately.
My favorite thing about these types of games are how they do so much with so few cards. Each card serves multiple purposes. I also love the little wallet that comes with it. It makes it super easy to carry along on trips with minimal space (like camping and backpacking).
Thanks for the great job you do!

I thought I never played a civ game, then I saw some mention Tapestry. I call that one a tech tree game, for what it's worth. But if that's a civ game, then that must be my favorite. I've heard Pocket Civ come up often as being quite incredible given its size. I think Button Shy puts out some fantastic games. I'd love to fatten up my collection and make it worth my while to get their travel bag. 😄

well, that looks really cool! I like civ building games a lot. probably my favourite! it looks like the rules are simple but it has a lot of strategy in it. a good mix. I see it is one player, but if two or more people had their own, they could play their own games at the same time and you could have a 'competition' to see who could score highest!

Wow, I love this game’s format, and it’s so cute! There’s just something about arranging cards on a table and using fewer pieces that makes a game feel more personal to me. I would love to see more games iterate on these mechanics and maybe try out new themes (I’d quite like to give it a shot myself). You completely sold me with this one.
You probably already have this metric, but maybe it’s still worth mentioning this is the first of your videos I’ve been recommended (perhaps boosted by the giveaway?). I really like your camera setup for the closeups.

I’m certainly interested in this one. Already a fan of Buttonshy games, and enjoy playing ROVE and Sprawlopolis often, however I appreciate the streamlined nature of this game - having to decide to build wonders or the economic engine at the right time, and doing it all within the constraints of a limited market and layout. Once again proving that it’s amazing what can be accomplished with just 18 cards! :)
