    • @bionicgeekgrrl
      @bionicgeekgrrl ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It can be quicker if they use aluminium, and therefore cheaper. However the moulds will then last a much shorter time compared with hardened steel.
      Typically you can expect 25-30 years from those moulds, maybe longer (in the plastic scale modelling hobby there are still kits being sold based on 1950s and 1960s tooling, of course technology has marched on since, but with careful use they can last longer than most wargaming companies have existed).

    Pro modelling tip: when you run out and go to refill your Tamiya Extra Thin glue, don't. Save the glass bottle and buy the 750ml bottle of "Tamiya Airbrush Cleaner", it's the same stuff for the same price (you can google that or check the MSDS for yourself, same stuff), but you get 750ml instead of 40ml. Old secret-not-so-secret modeller's trick. Plus you can clean your airbrush if you have one.
    It's a good idea to buy the actual glue the first time tho, since it has that handy bottle with the brush in the lid.

    I gave a like because great channel. I also dig the information.
    What I'm sad about, being super old, you know, like 150 years or so, is the whole industry move to plastic. Is plastic better as a material for miniatures? Yeah. But also, the up front cost is greater (though more efficient), and the now long on move away from hand sculpting to CAD has taken a lot of what I consider the soul out of the miniatures.
    Okay, so maybe the hands on a High Elf were a little humongeous. But there are so many hand sculpted miniatures that, even to this day, are more appealing than the most detailed Lord on Warhawk/Panther/Spaceship/Skateboard. With rivets. And a million cloak folds. And a city on a base beneath it. Showing every tooth. I do miss the old stuff, because manufacturing was different. Creativity is lacking, even among many esoteric, fringe, indy mini companies. There are not zero, but there were more.

      They'll all be 3d printed in a couple years and the entry cost there will be minimal or even as we're seeing with some games, 0. They sell files for people to print at home.
