@numba1danman cont; the iceberg the audience would do anything to stop that shop from sinking, there have been over a dozen titanic films, all have been typical historic replicas of what happened ie molly brown being a hero etc none have worked to the extent titanic did. the film titanic is cliche because the story itself is, its like a greek disaster story, biggest ship of all time, first voyage, most famous richest people in the world, hits iceberg, not enough life boats....sounds far fetched!

@loxj i agree with you in one part - kate underplayed hanna schmitz.....and it was amazing, the thing is with kate, she doesnt have to utter one word for you to understand her, its all in her eyes, she oozes emotion like i believe no other actress or actor can do. she did not campaign for awards seen as the awards were announced only a few weeks after both her films premiered, she attended the events, as did meryl streep and angelina jolie....she is the best...shame u cant see.

On the bbc broadcast when she finished her speech, you could lip read her mum saying, "perfect," this goes to show how much all those horrible comments on her speeches have affected her. I loved her GG speech, was moved by the sincerity and honesty of it, and hope she doesn't have to tame this down for the typical British press, who like to build people up to knock them straight back down again.
I love that when it shows Meryl she's saying "well done girl" - or at least thats what it looks like.

take a look at titanic...just watched it again now.....and kates performance is utterly astounding, im really annoyed that she didnt win best actress for that....its underrated beacsue of the sheer size that the film was....she held that film together...i do like leo too...its just kate draws the audience into how she feels....thats wat made so many women 'adore' leo after...because they saw her emotions....incredible!

@EnglishRose511 That makes her more "normal" and real to me, because when you ask most actors/celebs whether they would have liked to have won an award etc. most of them lie and say that the awards dont matter and that they just love doing their craft - when in fact they would have loved to win the award. So to me she seems more real if she said she wanted an Oscar.
