Yes you can mix a little acrylic colour to the paste ...it is easy to get light shade ..like purple shade which I have used in video I got that from mixing purple with white paste. For dark shades like black you will need a lot of acrylic which can make the paste thin consistent

No substitute needed , the paste get sticked on the surface.
