In this vlog we're exploring more of the incredible South Island of New Zealand. Making our way from Queenstown we're heading North to take one of the most popular hikes in New Zealand, known as the Hooker Valley Walk.
The drive there took us through some of the best views in the South Island, snow capped mountains and so much greenery. The Hooker Valley walk is epic as well - it's not just about the journey because the views over Mount Cook and the lake at the end were perfect.
As we mentioned in the video, Mt Cook is the highest mountain in New Zealand. It's height, as of 2014, is listed as 3,724 metres so it often can get hidden behind the clouds. We had a bit of a mixed view at times but the snow surrounding us and the South Island views are unforgettable regardless of cloud.

As you already know I'm in the NI...my proposed month long trip to SI try and deal with places missed last year is postponed..instead home but not in isolation. I love the look of that walk you took...

Challenging times ahead, your vlogs are a welcome escape... unfortunately it could be some time before we all enjoy the freedom of travel & the carefree existence we took for granted just a few short weeks ago.... depressed as I watch the trips & plans we had for this year fall one by one 😢...reality is None of that matters, its our health & family that’s priority.

We did this walk on our last trip in Sep 19 and LOVED it. Certainly the most scenic walk i have every done

Nice video! We did this hike several weeks ago when we were in NZ. Such a beautiful, albeit crowded hike! We literally saw some people terrified on the suspension bridges though like clinging onto the sides and people which surprised us.
Haha really? I can see why to a degree, the bridge is pretty sketchy with swinging and when other people get on huh!
super amazing...green rolling hills and snow capped mountains..the bridge was absolutely stunning..the lake at the hooker valley seemed standstill..looked like a volcano...can the water be touched?

Quote of the video is: "A couple of avo shelves just ready to pop" :) :) As for the hat - you are in good company cuz I bought one just like that to do a trip into the Sahara when I was holidaying in Tunisia back in the late 80s. It was excellent for keeping the sun off your neck. Kinda stylish too :)

I hope you are ok. I would suggest getting it up as soon as possible since I have heard other travel TH-camrs get a large uptick of traffic on those videos.
Where I live (Puerto Rico) many people use that type of hats to work around the garden and farms, because yeah, it protects the front and the back of your head and neck from the strong sun. My parents have a few in different colors! So wear it with pride!! (ᗒᗨᗕ) ...sorry Stacey... ꈍ .̮ ꈍ

Heard there was a couple from SE Asia that were planning to backpack in NZ for 2 weeks. The Prime Minister announced that foreigners are required to self isolate upon arrival. The visitors didn't heed these orders and are now facing deportation. Serious stuff.
