What a fascinating discussion especially in Feb 2024. Sardesai came across as fierce, barking and annoying poodle. The three panelists basically ignored his underlying agenda, especially Dr Ravi. Thanks for the grace and dignity that was presented on stage by high powered intellectuals with differing points of view.

The real slowdown started after demo and government said things were all hunky dory. GST was a double blow and it was still in a state of denial. Now we're in a crisis and finally it admits there's a slowdown. By the time we reach a point of no return it might accept we're in a crisis. Hope government will accept reality and resolve. The present mandate is so good they can achieve anything to their heart's desire. What is preventing them? It's a real mystery.

What I meant from my comment was that, she didn't gave any solutions to problems like private investment or relationship between job-growth-AI etc.
That's why it seems she was biased, and the reason is because our universities have socialist economist which Ritu man is rather than welfare or development or balanced economists.

      @abhisheksrivastava2688 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

@@davidjuneja Yeah, you are right to the point. But the socialist nature of providing jobs is so deeply instilled in our mindset because of a certain section of media as well as JNU ECONOMISTS that we dont want to see the bigger picture.
Government only provides an environment for private sector to create jobs, also India is a co.plex economy because of its diversity of sectors of economy. MSME sector is the one imo which can take India forwards leaps and bounds, and it's high time our government provides incentives as well as more competition in our MSME( in government I mean the state government).
Every state has to come forward with their agenda of atleast 10 years for their MSMEs and bigger private players otherwise this mindset will just go on and corruption with crony capitalism will stay.

Great to see the positive talking young ladies Roopa Purushottaman and Shamika Ravi so articulately edging out the ageing anchor who despite his years of experience casts his lot with the old school lady economist to his left Ritu something, calls them "feel good" economists...and sticks with grandfather and father generation economics. The young ladies are not even painting a super rosy picture. Only Sardesai and his economist friend are harping on the very negative side of the current state of indian economics. The comment from Roopa that unemployment %ges should be accounted for starting at the state level - sounds like a very good argument - it has to be included in the political/electoral narrative/rhetoric by candidates.
The lady Ritu is obviously lying about ujwala in 2012. What she says about cooking gas unavailability is a lie - because one of her own ilk Mr Shekhar Gupta has stated that tho they looked hard into kitchens in their election reportage they could not cite instances of lpg nonavailability. She is not telling the truth.

In the current situation, India should renationalise the mining sector, increase public investments, import only those items which cannot be produced in India, provide full security to the people regarding health, security, law, employments. The Government is responsible for the employment of the people, because the welfare of the people is moral responsibility of the ruler, as Kautilya said.

Keeps up building metro trains , discourages people to buy cars in the city which are always in traffic jams , car parking issues , long travel time . It encourages car hire services like uber & Ola. . So I am not sad by people loosing jobs in Auto sector . It's going to happen it's nothing to do with govt. Policies. As govt. Foreign trained and narrow minded, allow me to share what is really wrong with the economy and India at large.
India is a spiritual country. To bring out my point, West Pakistan is ex India, but an ideological state that is almost spiritual with a 1 point anti India agenda re. Islam, clipped by the New Age Islamists the Arabs.
If you get the above, then give India time to align it's true economy with national interests while the rent seeking rentier oligarchs and big biz. continued to Globalise.
For eg. Brexit means duties on Tata JLR exports to EU etc. Simple, move production to India to save on costs to defer taxes on exports.
Modi's roadshows are a run up to 1-3 % India govt. bonds listing in the US, Japan, Sing., Dubai and EU etc.
Indian economy will be awash in cash as the govt. withdraws from the expensive 7-9 % Indian loan market where it's the primary borrower.
Already Modi's India has made the maximum in bilateral, insider type deals like Japan's $ near 100 Billion on Delhi metro, $ 90 Billion on Delhi-Mumbai Corridor @ ridiculous, loss leading investment rates. Even bullet train project.

People who hold higher position either in government or private companies are in tune with what the state wants people to believe.
And more over when the two younger women, who could handle the language better have been automatically idolized as more knowledgeable about the topic. And its an Indian mentality to say all is well and show optimism, when we are in deep shit to carry yourself, as a true professional.
If anyone disagree, he or she becomes a left liberal. Good that she is not labelled antinational in at least such type of a topic.

Ritu Dewan said words Deprivation to destitution.. as soon as She quoted hunger index to make her point.. I got that she lady rhetoric was more about philosophical differences than facts.. India IMPROVED on almost all the data points and parameters except stunting (more due to illness than due to lack of nutrition ) which earlier rankings were based.. It went down because in new list 43 RICH countries were added which were not in earlier list hence you see drop.. where she see destitution I see empowerment and alleviation . .. Poverty rate decline in India has been fastest in India amongst all countries.. hundreds of Millions of poor got toilets, gas homes, Electricity, bank accounts and INSURANCE.. Country has seen good 5 years of continued growth at healthy rate.. just small blip for "ONE or TWO" quarters and all naysayers are out beating their chests..

Rajdeep has for once come to express something correctly - informal economy to formalised economy. More appropriately, adhoc economy to streamlined economy. Our economy is going through this phase - decades of randomness to a more structured economy. The strength and the benefits too will be spread over a period of time.

whatamever demonitization did has certainly made some huge losses to u sardesai, but since modi has came to power even after demonitization and the ranting u do, why dont u just shut ur mouth and do some progressive work and give some suggestions if u have, regarding economy, rather than just ranting.

Your Ayushman Bharat doesn't work in North East. private hospitals only accept it in paper but not on ground reality . More over the Mudra loan is a bogus here . The Banks managers will just kick you out if you impose this on them. They said its a Govt.'s win election.

This slowdown is a mix of many thing, some of which you can blame on current govt (demonetization), some on past govt (NPA) and some on the slowing global economy (recession every 10 years; last was in 2008-09). Instead of blaming we should try to understand the causes.
