    Just wanted to say, this video and part 2 were a great help. Some things I want to add from my experiences:
    - it's possible to do this without removing the pre-cat exhaust pipe, but it really, really, isn't worth it. Just take it off...
    - it's possible to do this solo with just a floor jack. but it will be painful, and you will have a tough time if you don't have good fitness. The auto gearbox will especially be a bitch if it falls off the jack while you drop it, since it's almost twice as heavy as the manual. Ask me how I know...
    - raise the w58 up to the level of the flywheel, then use your knees to wrestle it into place. It was surprisingly easy to do this, but I got some bad looking bruises on my knees, they didn't hurt that much though. Make sure you have the bell housing bolts nearby! If you have a transmission jack adapter that will make things so much easier though (as well as dropping that insanely heavy auto...).
    - speaking of bolts, the w58 bellhousing bolts are about 10mm longer than the auto ones, you will need 4x 90119-10019.
    - while the w58 is out of the vehicle, take this opportunity to replace all seals and the _speedo drive gear clip_ - this holds the speedo drive gear in place and after a few decades of use, that thing wears out resulting in the gear slipping down the output shaft, and your speedo not working at all. An indicator of this is when you go to spin the speedo _driven_ gear while it's still in the gearbox, and it spins freely. The part number is 90467-25001. This part is easy to replace, but it requires taking off the back half of the w58. If the gasket that seals it to the sandwich plate gets torn up, just scrape it all off and use toyota 1281 FIPG or equivalent. FIPG tends to work better when you smear it across a surface, instead of forming a bead like the factory manuals tell you to. Also much less likely to create excess that squeezes out potentially contaminating the system.
    - for RHD series 1 models, the analog speedo cable is plenty long enough to reach to the speedo elbow location that is now on the other side. Just get the cable to smoothly/gently curve its way over the top of the bell housing.
    - the auto gearbox crossmember 100% fits into the existing chassis holes. You need to make sure the little crossmember gearbox mount is the SUPRA one, and that the two bolt holes are TOWARDS the BACK of the vehicle.
    - the exhaust hanger that mounts to the above mentioned mount will still support the exhaust, but the rubber will be a stretched a bit now. If attempting to install it with the hanger attached to the pipe, be careful trying to bolt it to the crossmember gearbox mount as it may apply enough sideways pressure on the bolts to cross the threads.
    - the four 12mm bolts on the bottom of the gearbox crossmember have a factory torque spec that is way too high for them. Trying to torque them to this will strip the bolt threads. Just tighten it till it feels right.

      TY for the added feedback and tips for anyone who's gonna do this swap. Honestly it could be worse, but the W trans fits like it belongs there.

      @@RatchetFinesse that would actually be because the JDM (mark ii, chaser, cresta) and middle eastern models all had options for manual, but they were never available with the 7M. Only the 1G and 22R, as well as the diesel engines got manuals.
      For everywhere else, they just used the same chassis so costs wouldn't blow out, which is why the holes for the clutch master cylinder are already drilled out and rubber plugged.

    couple questions about this:
    - factory mk3 w58 shifter location, that doesn't go right through the center of the shifter hole does it? looks a bit close to the front of it at 11:04, but just want to confirm.
    - 9:15 xcessive clutch pedal mount? does it allow for a return spring and clutch switch to be installed?
    - what's the music that starts at 4:07? pretty catchy.

    • @RatchetFinesse
      @RatchetFinesse  ปีที่แล้ว

      factory mk3 w58 shifter fits perfect where the auto shifter used to be. No modifications were needed. At least with a 7m. The xcessive pedeal does not have a return spring or clutch switch. You'll probably need to make your own bracket for a clutch switch.

    Hey man, im in the process of 5 speed swapping my 92, i have a mk3 bellhousing, slave, and throwout bearing, I have a sc300 clutch fork for laying around but it does not work with the throwout bearing for the 7ms, what clutch fork did you end up using and did you have to space the slave, and did it work with the mk3 7mge throwoutbearing?

    • @RatchetFinesse
      @RatchetFinesse  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think you’ll need to use a 7m clutch fork. There was an early and late bearing for the 7m and I think the jz one is different from those too. I ended up using a w55 fork and having to space the slave cylinder. You need to match your bearing to what fork your using.

    • @thatguyedsmith2736
      @thatguyedsmith2736 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RatchetFinesse ok, so i have a w55 fork laying around, you can confirm the w55 throwout bearing will work with the 7m pressure plate, you just have to space the slave?

    • @RatchetFinesse
      @RatchetFinesse  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The w55 fork will work with a w58 clutch setup including the bearing. Just make sure you match your bearing to the fork. You will have to space your slave.

    How’d you bypass/wire up the nuetral safety switch ?

    • @RatchetFinesse
      @RatchetFinesse  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You take the harness going to the trans gear selector and essentially hardwire it so the car always thinks it's in neutral. You can even leave the shift selector plugged in neutral and just tuck it away somewhere.

      oscar ramadhan the speed sensor in our automatic trans fit the w58 trans. I would suggest tracing the speed sensor signal to your gauge cluster. You can find the x8 wiring diagrams / TSRM online.

      But i bought the car as is, so.. the auto trans have long gone from previous owner. And the car is RHD model . And i also check the back of the dash theres some wire missing.. but the temp and fuel level works fine. I also have swap the 1g withe 2jzge vvti.
      Ive been dig ing trough internet for the wire diagram hopefully theres interchangeable siwitch with other toyota model like the jzs133 crown maybe..

      @@oscarramadhan5229 My guess is that the previous owner didn't complete the speedo swap. I would find a shopwclose to you that knows Toyota ECU wiring and does 1jz/2jz engine swaps. Trying to find information on a RHD car along with a digital dash swap will be hard to find in english.

    • @RatchetFinesse
      @RatchetFinesse  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      As long as you have a M to W58 bellhousing then it should fit to a 5m. Trans mount and clutch pedal is probably different than what we use. We don't have much knowledge in the older Cressidas but they also came from the factory with manual trans. So it's possible without fabricating stuff.
