Love to hear about Okinawa. If you want an interesting interview contact John Holwager in Denver, he met and trained with many first generation isshin students. Also, you’ve probably had this suggestion already but Michael from Karate Culture/Karate Breakdown would be an excellent interview.

Shimabuku Kichiro Sensei called me a disgrace to karate at a tournament in Indianapolis. I'll never forget it. Broke my hand sparring 10 minutes later. I lived on Okinawa in 83-84 and worked with Uezu Angi Sensei at Camp Butler.

Really appreciated your comments on getting back to karate’s original intent. Also, how do I become a monthly subscriber?
    Thank you,

Can you explain to these noobs that Isshinryu fighters would smoke Gracie fighters in a cage match?
I joined Gracie dojo a few years ago, and tapped out one-handed professional MMA fighters who had over 20 wins using what Master Sensei Mark Meyers and GM Advincula taught me 24+ years ago, and I don't even practice all the time anymore. I was literally 20 years out of practice and beat two full-time pro fighters who had over 20 wins and 6 wins respectively, because they absolutely do not know even 1/4th what I was taught by your peers.
I've watched a few dozens of your videos for refreshers on Kata bunkai and joint locks and such.
No, Points sparring is NOT "Karate". Real Karate is lethal striking for self defense and also involves grappling, obviously most of the Isshinryu Bunkai involves at least some grappling. Points sparring has zero grappling and if you knock out your opponent in points sparring you LOSE the match for some godless reason now. They don't know what "fighting" even is anymore, least of all for self defense.
