The Okinawa Goju-Ryu Association of the Republic of Moldova is very grateful to IOGKF Chief Instructor - Tetsuji Nakamura Sensei, for his help in translating the interview with Higaonna Sensei. And also, thanks to Masakazu Kuramoto sensei for his help in organizing the filming process in Okinawa.

I began my endless martial arts journey with Goju Ryu Karate-do in the late 80s. Continued the path with Shito Ryu to experience the interactions between Naha-te and Shuri-te through studying and practicing the Kata. Experienced the fierce yet fluid and profound principles of Goju in Kyokushin Karate and Muay Thai until recently when I returned to Goju Ryu and all I can say is that this is the ultimate way of the warrior; the purest form of Budo.

Kanazawa and Enoeda karate was just as good so whos kidding who . Much respect and much peace to Sensei Higaonna ..he is true sensei who wants to spread peace and love to all... you the man brother but cause much pain in dojo...cool training is hard training ....train hard fight easy.
I am honored, blessed and proud to be able to study Goju-Ryu with my childhood friend, Hanshi Luis Morales. Words cannot fully describe his dedication and in-depth knowledge of history, martial science and life preservation technique as taught to him by Hokama sensei. I would compare the level of studying and training under him, to the likes of attending Harvard University or M.I.T. I am currently a 4th dan and after a 20yr hiatus from training and a near death diabetes episode. I am on the road to full recovery in just one year without medication under his guildence. Morio has tried to rewrite Okinawan karate history by writing in his books that Toguchi Seikichi was NOT Miyagi Chojun's senior student nor a student of his at all. All documents say otherwise. Morio does a disservice to karate. Even his teacher Miyazaki Eiichi has said so about Morio.

sport karate has diluted the essence of traditional karate !!! a lot of it is Macdonalds for the masses, tailored for fitness and Women !!
I personally like sports karate, but I know that it is clearly not a true representation of what true karate is all about
Traditional Okinawan Goju Ryu is a no rules self defense system from a time when it was do or die in conflict. Sports karate, as you know, is something quite different.

Today I hear a lot of people deal with Technic as the main issue of martial arts...Listen to the old great Sensei words...He talks a lot about community! We miss the community! We miss friends and support.. We left the tribe and big companies and governments buy our time, give this back again.

You completely miss the point of Traditional Karate.
None of them want to fight. You're not taught to fight, but to better yourself.
In MMA etc, you take the fight to the other person. You are taught to fight and to win. A complete polar opposite of Traditional Karate.
@@satch7123 Even more reason to drop that kind of training. Its a good thing they are taught not to fight because they wont be able to defend themselves with that stuff. If you want to better your self seek the bible.
