      You’re not looking deep enough… that’s the surface level information. I believe in this scene Paul sees the evil he will do in the future and that his mother is responsible for him drinking the water of life and pulling the strings. This scene is more than a mere emotional outburst, it’s a teaser into things to come.

      @@alexpaleale oh yeah I understand that. A lot of people thought Jessica was really cold and uncaring towards Paul. I think Paul is really perceptive because the Bene Gesserit really did make him a freak, and when he travels South all of his fears are realized that he had before. He becomes what he feared he would become. It's a very strong and natural progression of character through the movies and I just absolutely love how consistent it is.

      More like forced Messiah, he did not wanted to be, but they pushed him, Jessica was soooo soo in love with the idea of her son being the Messiah that she forced Paul to a path that will only give him pain

    • @christopherpumphrey7023
      @christopherpumphrey7023 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +36

      He was being forced to the path until the Harkonnen’s destroyed the sietch. That is when Paul said “I will do what must be done.” He veers from the group going south to drink the water of life. After he gains prescience no one forces him. He knows what must be done in order for the people he loves to survive. There is no way for him to communicate this though. It would be incomprehensible to others because he was bred for this. Paul is one of the most horrifying and saddening characters ever written.

      In the book he doesn’t know why he can’t mourn his father all the while he’s succumbing to the prescience for the first time. His mind is changing becoming more analytic, envision all these probabilities one of which is a holy war carried out in his name. But all he wants to do is feel sad for his pops but he can’t because he’s basically becoming a human computer simulator. But by the end of it he finally is able to mourn his father’s death.

    I think a cool concept in Dune is the concept of “humanity”, Frank Herbert believed that the ability to think and act independently of our primal instincts “programming” is what makes us human. The gom jabbar test was done to gauge Paul’s humanity, but we see something distinctly different after he takes the water of life in part 2. To achieve great power, Paul and Jessica effectively have to give up some of their humanity. Paul becomes locked in to a future beyond his control and becomes something of a tragic figure. He’s got “divine” powers of foresight but is essentially a slave to his power. It’s a beautifully crafted narrative about the dangers of power and losing one’s way.

      @@bruceclark7198 2 is excellent! They mean that Dune 2 expands on so much from Dune 1, it makes you realize there was more significance to the story Dune 1 was telling

      To me 2 traded for time and action where 1 was more artistic and emotionally fleshed out. A lot of things had to happen in 2 where 1 was pretty simple plot wise.

    The mono audio, are you kidding me? You’re a channel for a streaming service with over 75 million users, and you can’t upload a clip from a movie that uses stereo audio? From DUNE no less?

      Doubt that really happens. Don't know if it's caladan either. In the book Paul never got to go back to caladan his whole life. That could very well be arrakis when he turns it into a "green paradise" tho

    2:01 & 2:16 ...from what I've seen in the two movies...I believe these scenes are the only (possible) revealed moments from the yet to be released Messiah movie. 🤔🤔

      The Caladan conquest vision is best seen as symbolic
